GUILTY CA - Dr. Mark Anderson for groping dental patients, Woodland, 2007

On a lighter note re this case, the idea that he actually found so many women who didn't clock him across the head is stunning-I hate the dentist to begin with (no offense to any associated with the practice out there, lol) so if one started to lay a hand on me below my collarbone, I can pretty much gttee I would have laid him out...thank the good Lord I have ok teeth so I can pretty much get away with the bare minimum of professional care....

Still waiting to hear from any men with TMJ that this guy gave massages to :waitasec:

"I've been his patient since 1988," said Mary Bair, who attended the hearing. "The (exam) doors are always open the nurses are always in there. So he couldn't have done this."

So one lady says nothing ever happened, but 14 others say otherwise...hmm :waitasec:

WOODLAND, Calif. — A dentist accused of fondling the breasts of 27 female patients is trying to keep his dental license by arguing that chest massages are an appropriate procedure in certain cases. Mark Anderson's lawyer says dental journals discuss the need to massage the pectoral muscles to treat a common jaw problem.

(snip)

(more at link)

Where are these "dental journals"??? I'd like to see the articles that suggest that it's necessary to massage the pectoral muscles to treat TMD.

Charges against a Woodland dentist accused of fondling several of his female patients should be dismissed, his attorney said in court on Monday.

Mark Anderson is facing 20 felony counts and one misdemeanor count of sexual battery. Fourteen alleged victims have been named.

Anderson, who appeared in court in Woodland on Monday, is set to return to court at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 1.

Turns out there actually is a link between the pectoral muscles and TMJD pain.......However, that doesn't clear this guy in my opinion.....no man puts a hand on a woman's breast without her permission. Ever. Heck, way back in the day when I was seeing a male Gyn, he'd even ask before doing the breast exam.

My God what was he thinking? You don't possibly think he thought he could get away with this behavior not in this day and age... Ugh this reminds me I need to go to the dentist so bad but I am so embaressed... I think my dentist is going to think I am some kind of funk ball once he gets up in my mouth..

Perhaps, but cupping the womens' breasts???? How about the apologies both written and on tape??? Shows some idea of his culpability....and the massages occurred under the bra...

Oh, I totally agree with you, believe! I just posted the link because it was so unbelieveable to me that he would use the excuse of massaging the pectoral muscles to treat TMJD. I would have sworn there was no link between that muscle and the jaw condition! This guy is slime, that's for sure. And his poor victim is a little gullible, to say the least, since she returned to him over and over for more of the same treatment....

Can you imagine when it finally hit his patients that maybe this was just a little too personal....sitting around the dinner table perhaps discussing TMJ and suddenly it hits you-"Hey doesn't everyone get their breasts fondled at the dentist?" Sorry, not to minimize the seriousness of the charges...and as for the woman who testified that it never happened to her...you know where everyone was looking...

Good to know! Thanks for the update, chico!

you mean the judge didn't buy the fact that fondling patients is appropriate for TMJ? I am shocked and amazed....

Media will not be excluded from the trial of a Woodland dentist accused of fondling several of his female patients.

~snip~

Rothschild on Dec. 19 filed a request on behalf of his client to keep media out. He has since pulled back the motion.

However, Rothschild on Monday presented Judge Judge Stephen Mock with a stack of printed media stories several inches thick to make his case that the jury pool may be tainted.

WOODLAND, CA - Opening statements are set to begin Tuesday afternoon in the trial of Dr. Mark Anderson, accused of molesting 14 women patients in his Woodland dentistry practice. If convicted on the 20 felony charges he could face 23 years in state prison.

Anderson, 49, has already been stripped of his dentist license, an action taken by the state in October, 2007, after his arrest by Woodland police. In the license revocation hearing, his civil attorney argued Anderson's practice of sometimes giving chest massages to women patients was an effort to relieve the pain from those suffering Temporomandibular Joint disorder, or TMJ.

Fondling/massaging a woman's breast can lead to sexual arousal... sexual arousal is known for releasing hormones that act as pain killers... but the thing is: sexual arousal is not an acceptable form of administering a form of pain reduction by a medial professional. My opinion is: this is a egotistical pervert that used his medial authority to get his jollies off...
