Notice that Dr. Johnson closes her thread on the Levine issue as she's getting too many comments and emails from "victims" (yes, quote, unquote) and "it's not fair and it's getting old".

I believe after Levine put up no fight about his medical license that Johnson finally came around and believed him to be guilty. She's been up in arms about Dr. Earl Bradley. I believe Johnson had some trouble with the North Carolina Medical Board herself, although she is still licensed.

There is no website that I know of that documents child abuse by mental health professionals. There are a couple of sites like Advocate Web for adult women patients who have been sexually abused by male therapists, but I can't find anything for child psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, etc, who molest kids. There hasn't been an overview of this problem in the media, as far as I know.

I just received an email from Jack Hirose Associates, whom Mel Levine lists on his site as having been his booking agency for his last three seminars in 2009. Hirose told me that as soon as they were alerted about the Levine scandal, they cancelled his appearances.
But Levine is still listing those appearances on his site, even though he never made them. They're upset about this at Hirose. My contact said
"The ones in November should not appear on his website at all, since we had cancelled them and severed all ties with him at that point. I will let Jack know right away, and maybe he will able to let him know of this false representation. It is very bad for his to display that, knowing he did not present on those dates. To me, it looks like he is desperate to show credibility."

As families and children saw what happened to our family with our rape case, it was remarkable how many families expressed reluctance to get involved. One family even moved away. People are not stupid. It's hard to step into that trial by fire....of truth.

Ah, yes. Dr. Etta Bryant. When news reports came out in March 2006 that the police had searched Ayres' home and seized his patient records, Etta wrote an ill advised and misinformed letter to a local paper called "In Defense of Dr. Ayres." People believe that Ayres dictated it to her. She erroneously claims that Ayres was trained to give genital exams to boys in therapy during his training. However, the contributors over at www.williamayreswatch.blogspot.com managed to track down just about everyone who ever trained with Ayres back in Boston who is still alive who says that this is bull and a crock. They told the Ayres blog that any shrink caught giving a genital exam at Judge Baker Guidance Center- where Ayres trained- would have been fired.
But Etta refuses to speak to the prosecutor in the Ayres case and even though she's gone on record about Ayres' training, she also refused to speak to a Boston Globe reporter.
The rest of Ayres' former partners are not defending him.

I feel like the lid blew off Pandora's box recently. Everywhere I look, I find yet another "professional" under indictment or being led away to a prison sentence.
I think I've seen the Bernie Ward (Bay Area radio host) case discussed on WS before but Dr. Halloran's (Ward's wife) comments about her husband's sentence for child
are just outrageous. Remember that Dr. Colleen Halloran is a pediatrician and should understand the human toll of child . Instead, she screams that the Justice Dept. needs to be going after the "real terrorists" and stop destroying families. My Lord. Dr. Halloran's comment:

Yes, and Bernie Ward and Dr. William Ayres shared the same lawyer: Doron Weinberg. Weinberg will not be returning for the second Ayres trial, as Ayres is running out of money.

Mercyneal--Something on the Ayres' blog confuses me. I read that a Dr. Al Rainieri (sic) had commented that the allegations against Ayres did not surprise him. Then, there is a comment that Dr. Rainieri (sic) committed suicide not longer after this comment. Is this the doctor that is being discussed?:

Yes, it is the same doctor. The mother of a victim told Rainieri that Ayres had molested her son. This was when the news of the first civil suit came out. Rainieri said he wasn't surprised to hear about Ayres because there had been stories about him and boys for years.
Another woman who worked as a mediator in the San Mateo Family Courts also told the mother of a victim that there had been stories about Ayres for years.
Another therapist told a victim that he had heard stories as well.
And another therapist named Fran Acciardi actually went to Children's Services in the mid 1990s to voice her suspicions about Ayres but was told "There's nothing we can do. He's a doctor."

Priest abuse has a website and watchdog groups. I wonder if some of the victims or advocates would have enough of an appetite to start something similar. It is nice to have a single reference place to go and share stories and keep track of offenders.
Well, it's a good thing that I'm bedbound because I didn't have far to fall. Go back and look at the newsletter I just linked to--the one dedicated to Dr. DeRanieri. I decided to read the whole thing. Almost missed a little line up there at the very top to the right.
Yep, Medford, OR. Why does the NoNC-ROCAP/Northern California Regional Organization of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry have an address at the home address of a Medford artist? The woman is listed as secretary of the group. I did some checking.

Oh man, do I ever know about the "follow the attorney" trick. The same attorneys who defended our children's rapist also defended Kelly Rasmussen, a well known Medford Travel Agent/Youth Sports Announcer (busted for trying to meet up with an 11 year old), untold child abusers, Dr. Samuel Arthur (Art) Silverman (now in the Oregon state prison following his re-sentencing) , James Auchincloss (Jackie Kennedy's half-brother who is awaiting trial for child ).

In cross referencing physicians, I came upon this very interesting piece concerning the argument of whether Ayres was ever trained to do physical exams on children. Very interesting. Ayres had argued that he not only was taught to do physical exams on all children he saw for behavior concerns but also not to wear gloves. Hmmmm.

I live in Ashland. This is MY town. I don't want Dr. Ayres or his enabler wife here. I'm sure they were here for the Winery and Artisan Food Festival which took place Aug. 3, 2008. My husband went to it alone that year as I was already bedbound. Lord, he could have bumped up against the guy.
I'd give anything to know who they visited and who they lunched with. She's prattling on about a play she saw, "Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner." The 10 and 14 year boys who are mentioned are the sons of a well known theatre critic who spends a lot of time in Ashland. One does hope, as the commenter notes, that Ayres is not seeing the boys.
I told you guys that Ashland was Bay Area North. It's almost a joke in town that our quintessential visitor is a Bay Area, highly educated, semi-retired professional. Somebody made a bumper sticker a while back that said something like "Ashland...not your smashed Budweiser gimme-cap kind of town". I cracked up when I saw it as it is so true.
One would wonder if Ayres visited James Auchincloss. He was quite the involved art supporter until he got indicted for little boy. I hear he hosts fabulous parties.

And I've got some mighty good looking boys, let me tell you. They stand out in this town as they are dark skinned, well dressed, and most are well-honed athletes. Just plain YUCK!!
