On August 15, 2017, Duane Masher was reported missing by family after not being able to contact him since August 10th. According to family members, it is out of character for Mr. Masher not to notify someone if he is going out of town.

On August 15, 2017 the California Highway Patrol located Mr. Masher’s vehicle at the Redwoods River Resort located at 75000 US-101. Leggett, CA where it had been parked for 4 days. Mr. Masher is not a guest at the resort and has not returned to claim the vehicle. DETAILS:

Duane Stuart Masher, DOB: 11-07-1961 Residence: Coto De Caza

I hope they check out all the guests, and their visitors, at that resort.

I'm a local. The city he is from, Coto de Caza, is VERY upscale. The entire residential area of it is a gated community, and the homes there are NOT cheap.

This is my neck of the woods. Hoping for a happy outcome, but seeing the new info, it doesn't look good :(

Wow! Part of this sounds like a suicide situation, part sounds like either he was fleeing from someone.

The electronics baked and the taking of the most important things scream fleeing. But, leaving the items in the vehicle after reaching this area.

Interesting comments on this and the original story also connected beneath this article.

“I noticed what looked like his cell phone was smashed,” Jared explained. Later, he discovered that inside the oven were the remains of his father’s computer hard drives. They’d been cooked so they were unusable."

Sounds like he thought he may get busted for data or information he had on his phone and computer.. Perhaps in a panic, he smashed, baked, and bailed.

Maybe leaving the items in the vehicle was a way to throw LE off.

Also - they say no history of mental illness, but this quote from the son makes me wonder - Also in the article, son claims his Dad was "suspect of the government."

Drug paranoia?

It's crazy to me that law-enforcement released his vehicle so soon. I wonder if anything was even processed?

I thought the same thing. I also wonder about his statement that "people were after him": was it paranoia, or was it that he was afraid he'd be forced to move? This is definitely an odd (and worrisome) situation.

I wonder what the issue was exactly with the neighbor and landlord. That may answer a few more questions as to his state of mind. And yes, releasing the car was a big mistake. And the uncle came from elsewhere and drove the car close to the son?? But, did not evidently meet with him? How is the son reporting what was in the car, if HE hasn't gone through it. Yes, something is bizarre. I wonder if the neighbor who reported seeing him on the 11th is the same neighbor he was having the issues with? And what was he doing when he saw him? Ughh! Sorry ya'll just thinking out loud!

Bumping for Duane!

To me it sounds like DM got caught doing something illegal by his neighbors, and they threatened him so he ran. He's probably hiding out somewhere.

That's my guess.

Bumping for Duane. If he's hiding out, I hope he contacts his family.
