Namus: The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
East Bay Times article: El Cerrito: Police seek help identifying woman found dead

from namus circumstances of recovery: "On Monday June 2, 2020 at 0011 hours, ECPD Officers were flagged down regarding a structure fire at 11965 San Pablo Avenue, an abandoned building once occupied by a Taco Bell. El Cerrito and Richmond Fire Departments arrived within minutes and quickly extinguished the fire. Upon inspecting the area, they found the remains of a deceased person who had been burned very badly. There was no way to identify the deceased person at the scene. It is likely that the person did not have a home and was staying in the abandoned building for shelter. The ECFD Fire Marshal and ECPD CSI Unit processed the scene for evidence. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on June 3, 2020. The Medical Examiner determined that the cause of death was due to a medical condition, not related to the fire. The investigation remains active. The following information is known about the deceased: • She is an African American woman • Possibly in her mid-30’s • She has given birth to a child The ECPD is asking for the public’s help to us identify the deceased person and facilitate notification of her family. Anyone with information can call the ECPD Detective Unit at 510 215 4400. They can email at [email protected]-cerrito.ca.us or they can call the Office of the Sheriff, Coroner’s Division at 925-313-2850. Reference ECPD Case number 2020-1191"
