I am trying to catch-up.

1.) WOULD SOMEBODY PLEASE PLEASE give me some links to the 'vigil' - I've seen ONE pic' and ZERO videos !! Can't find them !! tyia...

2.) Doncha think Matthew had the cell phone on him and that's how police know he was in or around that lovely park? Then, at some point, could it have clicked in his head & he remembers po po can track cell phones now??

3.) Taking mom's cell phone: To call to leave her a sorry mom voice mail?

4.) WHO THE HECK was at Mercy Hosp. for treatment ??? And I heard right, the sheriff said the fighting was among 'Grahams' only - what do you think they would be causing a scene in a hospital about?

5.) I just feel like Matthew truly loved his baby and the death of the baby (hurts to say it.......... God Bless little Ember's Precious Soul - love her so tenderly, Jesus, God...) was connected to Matthew being 'high' on drugs?

6.) Is it correct that Ember's mom is now 'in hiding' ?

7.) Why in the world did that sheriff lie imo and say DNA can take 'up to 8 weeks' ???????? All I can think of is he was trying to pull a trick on Matthew - but for what purpose???

No news on what or if any searches for Ember are continuing today. Regarding rumors about Ember's body being found:

@[redacted] Rumors at this point. Sheriff has not released any info that remains have been found. Stick w @BreakingNews_RS.

And I agree with sunflowerchick that the finding of the pacifier was the catalyst plain and simple. Because MG knew that it was Ember's - no forensic confirmation needed.

One of the things he took from his mother was a cell phone, correct? But shortly thereafter the phone was turned off (or battery removed?) so that it couldn't be traced? Assuming this is accurate, it certainly sounds as if he intended to quickly call someone in particular. I would assume that LE could determine who he called, unless it was a burner phone. Of course, if he did call someone (probable drug contact?) they might have told him the phone would be traced and to shut it off.

Maybe he took her cell phone to delay her alerting LE by a few minutes, so he could get a head start. Or, maybe he had been exchanging texts with his mom and wanted to get rid of the evidence. (Silly, but maybe not if he wrote something that admitted he was guilty.)
What was the mom doing walking around with a semi-automatic weapon in her purse?

Ugh. My stomach is in knots. I have 3 threads open right now (this one, Gypsy Blanchard, and Noah Thomas) and I am having panic attacks thinking about what the parents in all 3 cases are alleged to have done to their children. I am taking my youngest out on a mommy/son date to see the new Minions movie in an hour and its killing me that so many children never had the opportunity to have the same experience. I am still holding out hope that baby Ember is out there alive somewhere, but nothing that has happened in the last 12 hours or so gives that impression.

Why does this keep happening???? There are so many options available if someone has a baby or child they do not want. How does killing them ever seem like the best one? Even if its for purely greedy reasons that a child is not wanted, one would think that the greedy parent would not prefer jail time to raising a child.

Sick sick sick!

You may need to step away for a bit if it's affecting you so deeply. :( My children are adults now or I could not even handle things like I see here. This happens every day, all day long, somewhere. I don't think there is one day that goes by without a case similar to this or at least a very small missing child. It's horrible but it is reality! Don't let it make you sick, just take a break. Go watch kitten videos on youtube for an hour .

What leads you to believe that Matthew loved his baby? The police said that he called her "it". He called his missing daughter (or daughter who had just died) "it". He showed zero concern for her welfare and no remorse. The love isn't apparent to me based on what we know-aside from his family members saying it in his defense. I bet they are changing their tune now.

I don't think that's a lie. My understanding is that most crime labs are seriously backed up - and this sort of case isn't going to get the priority handling that a case like the two escaped convicts got.

i am pretty sure an amber alert is reserved for cases with a description of the vehicle. We know this guy's vehicle. As well as this guy. Not applicable to this case.

Yep.

"Each state AMBER Alert plan has its own criteria for issuing AMBER Alerts. The PROTECT Act, passed in 2003, which established the role of AMBER Alert Coordinator within the Department of Justice (DOJ), calls for DOJ to issue minimum standards or guidelines for AMBER Alerts that states can adopt voluntarily. DOJ's guidance on criteria for issuing AMBER Alerts is:

Law enforcement must confirm that an abduction has taken place (IMO This was the big issue - they can't confirm this)
The child is at risk of serious injury or death
There is sufficient descriptive information of child, captor, or captor's vehicle to issue an alert
The child must be 17 years old or younger

It is recommended that immediate entry of AMBER Alert data be entered in FBI's National Crime Information Center. Text information describing the circumstances surrounding the abduction of the child should be entered, and the case flagged as Child Abduction.

Most state's guidelines adhere closely to DOJ's recommended guidelines. "

That cinches it for me. He disposed of her, and they are going to find her. He knows it.

What happened to her, how I mean, is still a question. Is his wife still standing by him?

I don't know if she is still standing by him, but I know that she wouldn't need to be in a safe and undisclosed place if he was still standing by her!

Isn't there a law, too, that because Matthew is a convicted felon, not only can he not possess a firearm, but ALSO he is NOT to living anywhere there are firearms !! ?

And yes: Is there some local who can tell us why granny is packing-heat? Is Redding like the Philadelphia CVS or somethin'?

Herself - but yes, I bet you're right. I wonder if she didn't really have a choice once the case was settled.

Probably not. Our constitution and the California state constitution have strict rules about things like monitoring people's movements. Constant monitoring for a low-level probation violator is not typical. And it's never heard of if the charges are dismissed.

I just woke up and have missed the overnight goings-on, but apparently he's still on the run?

Has there been any thought as to why he (apparently) reacted to the finding of the pacifier? Personally, I believe that he did something to the baby, but in the (very) remote chance that he -didn't- and the baby -was- taken, what if he knows and has suspected someone who lives in that area, and instead of being on the run he is actually looking for them?

It just seems very clear to me: The location of the pacifier indicates where Ember was dumped by him. It tells LE that they are on he right track and he is afraid they will find her soon.

Theyve said other charges are pending. So he knows that finding her body will hasten those charges.

I personally think if LE didn't want the info to get to him they wouldn't have shared it with anyone especially his Mom. They have been sharing a lot of info in this case. The article posted above states the info was shared with JG and his Mom so I assume ....and this is pure speculation that he got word from one of them.

This article stated the pacifier is being tested for DNA so hopefully they will have confirmation . Maybe it's not hers and they wanted to just see the reaction.

Yup I agree.

IMO marijuana wax residue is the answer.

Why? He could say it got there from his hands.

Might even be a bluff?

That totslly crossed my mind. If it was, it tells LE where they need to concentrate the search. Looking at the maps I am once again struck by how large the world is, and how many places there are- an infinite number of places- to hide a tiny body.

It truly is is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I hope everyone knows how big haystacks are!!!

If this was a tactic, it was a smart one.

I agree regarding what THEY (LE) consider it's value to be.

My thought was that he responded to that find as if he NOW had something to be scared of, which he didn't have until it was found.

It doesn't prove he stopped there. It proved someone had Ember there. Like, the supposed kidnapper. The ONLY way it completely damns Matthew and would prompt him to violate probation, skip the meeting, steal a semi-automatic gun and cash, and run from cops is if there is something there that ties him to her cause of death, IMO.

IOW, my speculation was regarding why HE felt it was so damning, and the final straw IN HIS MIND, not LE's. JMO

It doesn't have to completely damn him to make him want to run. We've seen that in other cases. Just the fact that it may lead trm to Ember's body may be enough to freak him out. IMO.

Thanks for that! I was worried that some of LE's resources would be diverted to finding MG. So both LE and volunteers continue to look for Ember. I hope we get news soon as sad as it will probably be.

This may not be true but I thought for sure on one reporter's tweets yesterday it said the cell phone had been turned off and not pinging again. Did anyone see that and/ or save the link? TIA ( maybe it was a rumor )

According to LE the arrest warrant is for "felon in possession of a firearm" so his goose is already cooked by that charge.

MG's mother is from Gainesville, FL not Redding. I lived there for three years and I don't remember it being a hotbed of violent crime so yeah, why is she traveling around with a gun in her purse? Of course I lived there decades ago so maybe it's different now but I don't think so.

Good that she had it in her purse though - convenient for MG. And yes, I'm being sarcastic.

RBBM

The thing is, for men, there aren't any options if they don't want to be a parent. They don't have the right to choose abortion, and they don't have the right to offer their baby for adoption if the mother says no. They don't have the option of saying okay, well, I'm not going to support you - a subpeona will be served, and they will be taken to court for child support.

As it should be, actually, is what I believe. But men who don't want to parent and have an accidental pregnancy have no options whatsoever. Only the women have those options. I wonder if there would be less violence done to kids if men did have options.

Which, I guess they do. They can choose not to have sex.

Call me skeptical but I don't believe a word from this person. The very fact she lives in this drug encampment and is related to MG (girlfriend of cousin) and likely a friend of his makes anything she says highly suspect.
That puts her at risk of concealing evidence.

Maybe just because she's ex-LE she has it?

What the heck was her job? years on the job? back in Fla? full name? Surely then she wouldn't have been a part of a crazy fight in Mercy Hosp. - super tacky to fight in a hospital - shows zero regard for anyone but me me me (whoever the people were...)

-
CELL PHONES - My understanding is to know no one can track you, you have to take out the battery........
