Thanks this is the first time I have seen the video. Interestingly at the beginning it looks like MG is going to fall apart. At the end he has some closed body language with his hands stuffed under his armpits.

Gosh I didn't think he looked like he was going to fall apart at all. Sad faced. But not barely holding it together.

For the record, it's perfectly legal to carry a concealed semi-auto handgun in the state of California, and permits are issued for a myriad of reasons. You would never leave your house if you knew how many people you encounter daily who are carrying. I don't find it odd at all, and it doesn't feel like a big deal to me in any way. She has every right to carry her weapon if she has a permit. No flags should be raised about it.

And her son knew she carried, so he went and got it. If she is an ex-LE, she should have predicted this and been more careful, however.

I lived in NorCal for most of my life and have never known a single person to carry a semi-automatic weapon in her purse. I realize that it's legal. But no one can really say that it "shouldn't" raise a red flag in anyone else's mind. (There are many people who don't think it should be legal and they have every right to have that opinion.) I didn't realize that she used to be LE. That would make sense that she is used to packing heat.

He looked cold and unemotional to me.

He looked cold and unemotional to me.

IMO it's hard to read into people who are going through the unthinkable.

But IMO it's easy to read into the gun/cash/flee thing. Add in the facial expressions and the lack of taking a voice stress test/lie detector thingy as a bit of extra at THIS point on top of the fleeing, though... and yeah it makes it seem all that much more suspicious.

(I'm just trying to stay as open minded as possible. My personal opinion though is much the same as pretty much everyone else's.)

Update: July 12, 2015 1130 hours Graham Case from SCSO FB page. Still at large, but a little more at link.

The sheriff has warned that anyone who harbors, conceals or assists Matthew with evading capture will be investigated and charges will be sought for their arrest and prosecution.

And it's also mentioned here:

However, Kropholler added that anyone who helps Graham will face charges and prosecution.

So it this just standard procedure given that he's managed to elude LE for this long while on foot or does the sheriff have info regarding someone possibly helping him?

He looked cold and unemotional to me.

I think he looked serious, scared and worried (possibly only about himself, though).

I am close with someone whose ex didn't want any parts of his child. The Mom (my friend) didn't want the child with him anyway so after he missed several visitations the judge waived his support with agreement that he had no contact with the child. This was 20 years ago so I don't know if such an arrangement would be possible in today's world . Most women want financial support.

Thats defintiely not possible here in CA!!

Maybe just because she's ex-LE she has it?

This is the theory I am thinking of right now, too...

I just watched the video again, and I agree with your analysis. To me, he definitely looks distraught and sad in the beginning, massaging his wife's neck in support while she talks, and at the end of the video it seems he is trying to keep his composure and be strong. We don't know if those shots are out of order of the actual events, how long they had been standing there, or what was being said at the time, etc. Neither indicates guilty to me.

But I also don't think that at that time he thought he'd get caught. However, stealing a gun and going on the run sure screams guilt. And I think this guy is desperate, unpredictable and dangerous right now.

I feel so so sad for baby Ember, and all family that have been hurt by this chain of events. The pain caused runs deep and hurts many. It's awful. I feel terrible for MGs mom, who lost her darling grandbaby and now a son. What a horrible horrible chain of events for all.

I think you would be amazed how many people are CCW holders, and yes you will never know who they are(they will not declare, hey hey look at my gun in my pocket/purse!). I have lived in Norcal and Southern Oregon my whole life and know many folks men and women so I don't understand why everyone is stuck on the gun. With her being ex-LE and him living in a kinda sketchy part of town I can see why she was carrying, but I can't see why she was not more vigilant of securing it. With the time gap in reporting and the family at the Hospital it makes me wonder if this was a set up escape plan using the hospital as a decoy to buy him time?

I'm sort of thinking that MG assaulted his mom (enough to require emergency medical treatment) and he took her whole purse, with gun, cell phone and cash in it.

I think she may be in some sort of active military role or LE currently.

Depending on where we each live and who we hang out with, our hobbies, etc., we each might or might not be exposed to others who carry, or even carry ourselves. Based on my experience, I would say it's less likely in a city or subpurb setting, and more likely in a mountainous community. But again, you do not ever knows what's under someone's shirt or in their purse.

Just saw this:

UPDATE 11:20 A.M.:

Wayne Graham, father of Matthew Graham, declined to comment on the recent developments beyond saying he wants his son, and his missing infant granddaughter Ember Graham, home safe.

It sure sounds like MG's dad still believes Ember was kidnapped. Or else just putting it out for show. Hmm... I wonder if that's why LE is stressing that anyone helping MG is gonna be in big trouble.

If they think he's in the park/wilderness, they need to run everyone out and use heat censor binoculars on their helicopter ride tonight.

Most likely though, someone is helping him. In reading through FB pages, the family has a lot of friends and support in the area.

The day prior to her son taking her weapon, his mother publicly described him as "fragile." Seems to me, the prudent thing for her to do was to secure her weapon so "fragile" son couldn't access it. I think it is a huge red flag to LE.

What the heck was her job? years on the job? back in Fla? full name? Surely then she wouldn't have been a part of a crazy fight in Mercy Hosp. - super tacky to fight in a hospital - shows zero regard for anyone but me me me (whoever the people were...)

-
CELL PHONES - My understanding is to know no one can track you, you have to take out the battery........

BBM If I knew all that you asked, I still couldn't say. That would be against TOS

I bet he was fragile at the time, but not for the reasons she assumed, and has since snapped. She called and reported her gun stolen, by him. Would she do that after helping him get it? Either way, he is in grave danger of being killed. Why would a mommy allow her son to be in that position willingly?

I can't wrap my mind around all of this. So twisted. And sad.

Thank you - it appears to have water. and I will check to see if any parks in Ono look like the one in the picture I have which is pretty vague - rocks by the water and geese .

FWIW, I came up with that location per your link. I can't get close (street view) to see if there's a playground, rocks, or geese.
