CA CA - Emmanuel Haro, 7-months, reported kidnapped 7:30pm from Big 5 parking lot, Yucaipa Blvd, Yucaipa, 14 Aug 2025 *Arrest* #3

So that means she premeditated the murder?
I checked the California definition:

First-degree murder, as defined under California Penal Code § 187, requires proof of malice aforethought, meaning the defendant intended to kill or acted with a reckless disregard for human life. Convictions can lead to severe penalties such as life without parole or the death penalty.

I am confused about the difference between first-degree and murder with malice in CA. Would love if someone here could explain it. tia

iirc, defense attorney vincent hughes has not given any interviews since jh was arrested. i wonder if he will speak after court appearance... claiming 'his client' had nothing to do with disappearance or murder.

Maybe I'm just thinking incorrectly but shouldn't the attorney have been present during the desert trip with JH?

So where are the pictures of him crawling ,kicking and playing with his toys.
Bath time, reading books, hugs, kisses or smiles? Monsters! They are biding their time so the autopsy will never tell the tale. I have a hard time the mom is telling the truth. She shed not a tear over her missing baby. Can someone confirm or deny that the previous child who most recently suffered at JH’s hands is not also the child of this lady?

The then 10-week old was not Rebecca's.

The "separate counsel "and "private counsel" could be for JH's probation violation for possessing a firearm/ammo?
Is Vincent Hughes still representing JH on his probation violation or has be booted out of town on a pre-planned vacation that he couldn't cancel?
Was he anywhere to be seen today?

imo

"Brian Cosgrove, the Deputy Public Defender, County of Riverside, spoke outside the court, explaining that the parents will need public defenders, with at least one requiring separate counsel.

Their arraignment has been moved to Sep. 4, and per Cosgrove, the parents have not yet retained private counsel."
Vinny @ Law& Crime cleared this up.
Assuming that neither have the money for a private lawyer and ask for a "free attorney" then only one of them can get a public defender and the other one gets an "assigned counsel" by the judge.
Public defenders or "assigned (private) counsels" can not represent 2 defendants in the same case.

Vinny said it's a "conflict of interest.

I would have thought so.

We know he represented him for the previous abuse case. This is a new case so he does not have to represent him unless he wants to.

And apparently he didn't want to. I'll say it again smart move.

I would say he ran for the hills once he realised how high profile this case is.I honestly think he believed in the beginning that the parents were innocent of murder

Oh I agree whole heartedly. Maybe at the very beginning. As more and more information started coming out though I think it was more like NOT AGAIN!! I'm out!! JMO

And I think his one-day media blitz didn't go as well as he thought it would. People reacted negatively, imo.

I think that first degree murder charge is also for killing a child under a certain age (like six years old) is a special circumstance that automatically qualifies the murder as first-degree.

Hughes knew exactly what JH did to his 10 week old daughter and the aftermath, so I believe he knew what he was capable of.
It was a miracle that she survived, which she wasn't expected to do.

Hughes reputation went into the gutter when people found out he represented JH in 2018, he was getting harassed.

In addition who was going to pay him this time?

Who paid Hughes and how much back in Oct 2018 thru when JH was charged in 2021 and then sentenced in 2023?
imo

It is also very likely that Jake could afford to use him as a private lawyer.

I would think they cannot talk investigation without attorney but it didn’t do anything negative for him to agree to go if he didn’t talk. May even appear as if he is going along is cooperating because he doesn’t know where Emmanuel is?
You make an excellent point. In all events, I wonder why his lawyer wasn’t there. Maybe they got around it by not asking him any questions, but what was their plan if he started talking? Maybe the lawyer was there but not in the photos? Unusual for a lawyer to let that happen without him there, and speculating here since I don’t know this area of the law, but I would be surprised if the attorney wasn’t given the opportunity to come.
