No excuse for her, but she is a woman with a broken will. Completely and utterly battered down.

Bullhonkey! At this point, if she’s a “broken” woman, her actions should reflect that. If anything, she’s a delusional co-conspirator who hasn’t had the sense or opportunity to cut a deal yet.

This case and these two people and the court system make me so sad and angry. This man should never been allowed around anyone let alone a helpless baby. He should have been under the freaking jail long ago. jmo
The judge said he wanted to give Jake a chance. How can we give people who abuse and shake babies a chance? Judge put his heart in the wrong place this time.

I had the pleasure of giving my two week old grandbaby a bath today.Baby loved the bath. Not so much with the dressing..Lol, but had a nice warm bottle waiting.I love the pink baby magic lotion. The smell evokes so many memories of when my children were babies. As i was feeding the baby i had a big tear run down my my check. My daughter thought I was over come with emotion for my grandbaby, but the tear was for Emmaual. Poor sweet baby. We all on here know someone would have been more then happy to love him if his parents couldn't / wouldn't.I get sad and then I get so angry I could spit!!!

Agreed. Someone who "shakes" a baby, needs prison. There is no potential rehabilitation.

May be bullhonkey, I admit. But nevertheless, she is broken enough to not take care of her children or have their backs. I don't mean this to say she is innocent. Far from it. How do "normal" people let this sh*t happen anyway?

Why is she broken for part in murder and he’s a monster for his part? We know 0 information at this point to say either way.

If she was broken and didn’t cause it, she’s had ample opportunity to resolve it and by choice has not

A chance?? Not before the person has entered into professional counseling and has learned from his mistakes. It should be required and monitored.

Enjoy that grandbaby!

I had a similar reaction to a baby recently. This weekend while on a walk with my husband, we walked past a family getting out of their car, about to take a walk with an infant. The mom put the baby in a front carrier on the dad, while the grandma kissed the baby and coo'ed at him and the grandpa stood close by beaming. They were a tight little cluster of people gladly tending to the baby. I got teary-eyed like the sap that I am, and my husband asked why. I said, "that baby is so loved and it's wonderful." I was most definitely thinking of Emmanuel and his step-sister (adopted by a relative) and lamenting they didn't experience that kind of loving, wholesome attention as babies.

jmo

eta: The little girl is now loved by her adoptive family, I know. Thank goodness.

One gets the sense that maybe they had to occasion to send proof of life photos and had to be creative to minimize visible injuries.

If these are the BEST photos of this precious little guy they had, I shudder to think what any rejected photos look like.

It breaks me to think that chronic abuse might have been all Baby Emmanuel ever knew. He thought that's how life felt.

😞

JMO
Cases like Emmanuel's make me really, really hope there's a heaven, because that poor baby deserves so much more than the life he got

Agreed. I just happen to think the photos were taken for the purposes of proving to someone that he was alive and well and it's the best they could produce.

And a far cry from photos of other people's 7 month olds. Messy eaters, happy bouncing chairs, cute crawlers...

JMO
That poor baby looks frightened to me. Frightened and oh so sad.

If we are talking about this judge, I say the judge is clueless and is not a serious judge. jmo

"If that judge had done his job as he should have done, Emmanuel would be alive today," he said. "That's a shame and it's an outrage ... When our criminal justice system breaks down, I'm going to call it like it is and say it broke down."

According to Hestrin, Jake and his ex-wife abused their infant child to the point where the child is now permanently bedridden. He provided a list of injuries caused by the abuse, including broken ribs, healing fractures, a partial skull fracture and a broken leg.

The force required to inflict those injuries tells me this was an enormous sustained battering of a young defenseless baby that possibily involved the kind of thing we would normally see out of two people fighting outside a pub only one of them unable to fight back .

Not only did emmanuels parents cause his death the judge involved in the previous case might as well of oiled the hands that killed him too 😡

When a judge has the power to play God and is deciding the fate of a perpetrator he should consider how long the perp has enjoyed dancing with the devil and how long he would have continued dancing had he not being caught

I didn't even see any mandatory anger management classes. Seriously. Something.

I completely get giving someone a chance. Common sense has to come in to play though. There are some instances where giving a second chance is a good thing and I get that the jails are full. At that time with JH and that poor baby's injuries absolutely NOT. The judges where I live do the same dang thing. Woman was beat up. Judge released the significant other. Gave him the standard release instructions. Stay away, no drugs alcohol firearms ( I live in a Constitutional Carry state) Keep your next hearing and so on. I fully expected to see him in court the next day with worse charges. Thankfully I did not. But there was always that chance that I could have.

What bull crap this is, from beginning to end.

If he couldn’t afford a lawyer he’d be provided with a Legal Aid attorney.

The judge confided in him that no one would believe him? Ridiculous.

“Magically convinced him to take this damn plea deal?” Absurd.

The judge “knows he didn’t do it” yet still required him to attend a year of child abuse classes?

His wife is innocent despite the fact that it’s been proven that she faked her story about Emmanuel being kidnapped? Ha Ha. Even if she didn’t kill Emmanuel herself, she covered up for what actually happened to this baby.

IMO absolutely the judge did not do his duty nor follow the legal guidelines of Prop.57 because this WAS violence.

And at least Vanessa took the ten-week old to the hospital, so that is something in her favor.

JMO
He a poor fiction creator , which is exactly why he’s in jail. The storyline they created for Emmanuel’s disappearance was so easily disproven, that within 24 hours LE knew they were lying.

I’m really curious about this guys childhood.

Curious why you say this if you care to share?

JH scares me. That he can harm 2 infants and just open his mouth and lie like a 4 year old (lie on top of lie that make no sense) at his age is just psycho. JMO. I think he's potentially more dangerous than we already realize.

How did CPS know it was you? I've made reports before, I've always been asked my name, but I've declined to tell them.
I submitted the online form and it asked for my contact information.

I experienced this also when reporting a relative (also in IL), if you are reporting a specific incident or incidents you have witnessed it isn't hard for the alleged abuser to figure out who was present and extrapolate who the reporting party was. JMO
Exactly this, plus the form asked for my contact information for any follow ups.
