CA CA - Emmanuel Haro, 7-months, reported kidnapped 7:30pm from Big 5 parking lot, Yucaipa Blvd, Yucaipa, 14 Aug 2025 *Arrest* #3

  • #701

This article shows a video, containing footage with some information I hadn't seen before.

Around 1.42 in, it shows video footage of the parents returning to the parking lot after they did their tearful interview, to start their own "search operation".

You can see them sort of poking around, as if Emmanuel is a missing earring or wallet.

They must have really loved being in front of those cameras.

I am not worried about the jury pool. By the time this gets to trial, the story will have faded. It takes a long time for cases to make it to trial. It's not going to be an ongoing saga like the Lori and Chad Daybell case, ykwim?

Plus, as big as this story is for some people right now, there are many, many people even in that area who are not paying attention. They have a big population from which to find a jury. imo

Rest assured, this case can proceed with a jury of peers who will judge the evidence. imo

My concern is the evidence. We know a murder happened, but can the evidence point to the person who committed it?

So true. In the Gabriel Fernandez case, it was 4.5 years for before the trials started and the mom and boyfriend were sentenced

And that was with much documented evidence. All the hospital staff saw Gabriel and what had been done to him. This one make take awhile.

Oh yes. I also should have added JHs previous case took about five years as well

What bull crap this is, from beginning to end.

If he couldn’t afford a lawyer he’d be provided with a Legal Aid attorney.

The judge confided in him that no one would believe him? Ridiculous.

“Magically convinced him to take this damn plea deal?” Absurd.

The judge “knows he didn’t do it” yet still required him to attend a year of child abuse classes?

His wife is innocent despite the fact that it’s been proven that she faked her story about Emmanuel being kidnapped? Ha Ha. Even if she didn’t kill Emmanuel herself, she covered up for what actually happened to this baby.

IMO absolutely the judge did not do his duty nor follow the legal guidelines of Prop.57 because this WAS violence.

And at least Vanessa took the ten-week old to the hospital, so that is something in her favor.

JMO
He definitely didn't do his duty but as far as him following the guidelines of prop 57, if they did come into play, is that what he pleaded to doesn't fall into the category of violent crimes listed. What most us would consider a violent crime isn't necessarily considered a violent crime under prop 57 and the state so far has done nothing to change that

I didn't see the parking lot return in the main video from that web page. Is there a second video link somewhere on that page, and I missed it? Or I wonder if the main video was edited between the time you first posted and now.

I did that too, volunteered at a United Cerebral Palsy Center when I was 16. My high school boyfriend and I wanted to do something helpful, and that’s what we chose. Memory fails but I think it was maybe on E. 23rd in Manhattan, somewhere around there.

IMO as certainly just a layperson, I think Emmanuel was really too young for a CP diagnosis. I could very well be mistaken, but the kids for whom I volunteered had the typical physical issues. We pushed their wheelchairs on outings, we assisted them in the bathroom, those kind of things. Their hands, feet, balance, and verbalization were affected to different degrees, so from the outside looking in, I think we can’t really be sure what afflictions his parents created before they killed him.

Of course if he had CP and could in fact have been diagnosed at his age, well that’s a moot point since he wasn’t taken to a doctor.

I too thought CP was present from birth, but I’m unsure of how early a diagnosis could be determined.

JMO and experience.
First, your memory has not failed you! I had dinner near Gramercy Park last night and walked past it on the way home (it's on 23rd bet. Lex and Park Ave. South). Kudos for your kindness and empathy even as a teen.
Second, it appears testing and technology have improved early detection and diagnosis. It was more commonly diagnosed at closer to 2 years of age and now it can be diagnosed as young as 6 months.

Aw, thank you @CityKid.

I’m thrilled that science and medicine are more able to diagnose early and hopefully that early intervention will be of tremendous help.

Had Emmanuel been born with CP, and had parents who loved him, he could have had a very promising life. IMO.

I rejoice that my brain can still somewhat function!

What was this judge thinking…
This man was going to all the sudden be gentle with an infant? Sterilization at the least should have been mandatory. He doesn’t get to be a father if he can’t take care of his children.

Sick, just complete madness… when will we get sick and f. ing. Tired of the madness??

He was probably a spoiled rotten brat. JMO.
Probably the sort of spoiled rotten kid who also at least occasionally was beaten by his caregivers.

NOT AN EXCUSE, just a likelihood.

Is it possible the judge had family history of Jake and knows something about his past that we don’t?

Still doesn’t excuse the sentence but maybe?

No, a person who is beaten does not necessarily choose to harm an infant.
He was impatient, unable to control himself, he acted in his own interests and didn’t care about anyone but himself.
Look into his past and you will see women who have been victims of DV- certainly

Why does he beat and physically hurt other people- I don’t care why!
Keep him away from others- none of us, no matter how small, should be resigned that we should tolerate being hurt so that someone else can be free- to hurt us.

I dunno about that. JMO, I've never seen a spoiled rotten kid, who was never told no, but was physically abused.

I just wanted to give a little insight on cerebral palsy since it is being brought up. My son has cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is basically a movement disability that appears as a result of an injury on a developing brain, which can happen for various reasons during pregnancy, at birth or shortly after birth. There has to be some kind of brain injury in order for CP to develop. It is well within the realm of possibility that one or both of these two inflicted some damage on his brain and CP resulted.

There are a multitude of ways that CP can present itself. Some with CP can be completely non-verbal with no ability for independent movement. Some have only mild effects and you would have to be looking for something off to notice. We are very lucky that my son’s CP is mild, and only affects his left leg and arm (they have a lot of tone so it’s a bit harder for him to walk and turn his arm). It does not affect him cognitively at all, even though there technically is an injury to the brain (as a matter of fact, he’s in the talented and gifted program at school!)

We do not know what caused my son’s brain injury (though it is suspected it developed because I had preeclampsia). Everything was normal after he was born, but at about 4 or 5 months, I noticed that something was going on - he wasn’t bringing his feet to his mouth to eat his toes like most adorable babies do. However, no one around me noticed anything different about him at all, even when I pointed out more and more things, until we finally got the diagnosis after an MRI at 13 months old.

IMO, the way Emmanuel holds his arms, and especially his fists, are very similar in a way to how my son holds his. In an even more pronounced way actually.

“Cerebral palsy (CP) is a brain disorder that appears in infancy or early childhood and permanently affects body movement and muscle coordination. Cerebral palsy is caused by changes in the developing brain that disrupt its ability to control movement and maintain posture and balance. The term cerebral refers to the brain. Palsy refers to problems with movement.”

I sure have. Lots of kids have parents who indulge and fail to parent them out of inability, laziness, and past trauma, but then have a breaking point that causes them to respond with anger and sometimes violence when the kid crosses it.

Most people who were beaten as children do not grow up to abuse children. But being an abused child is a significant risk factor for becoming a child abuser as a parent.

In the pictures, he's either lying down flat out, or being held up. No tummy time, no crawling, no independent sitting up. No giggling, no grasping, no shoving his wee hands in his mouth.

WOW I always thought CP was something that happened at birth. Apparently not.
Cerebral Palsy: A Variety of Causes, Effects and Treatments
From the article

Causes after birth

Babies can develop CP after birth due to other events. These are often injury-related, but there are other possible causes, too, including:

  • Accidental injuries.
  • Physical abuse.
  • Asphyxiation.
  • Infection, strokes or bleeding in and around their brain.
  • Jaundice and kernicterus.

I didn't know that either.
