Trying to catch up here but am wondering if anyone can answer:
1. Is it still probable that little Emmanuel's body can be recovered?
2. Has the judge [who made the terrible error in judgement about the initial charge with the sister] made, or will he make, a statement?

Apparently Judge Moore gave an interview to the Long Beach Post (paywall)

I originally posted this on August 29. It is from a Long Beach Post article that isn't behind a paywall. As far as I know, it is the only comment that Judge Moore has made about the case.

On Wednesday, Judge Moore told the Long Beach Post that ethical rules prevent him from explaining why he granted probation to Jake Haro.

“I’m absolutely precluded from commenting publicly about the case,” said Judge Moore, who acknowledged that the controversy caught him by surprise. “In 18 years, this is the first time I’ve been taken to task in this manner about a decision I’ve made.”

*****
Judge Moore, who spent 26 years in the San Bernardino County DA’s office before being appointed to the bench in 2007 by then-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, retired from full-time service in 2021 but has continued to handle temporary judicial assignments.

(As to your question #1 -- IMO it is possible, but not probable that Emmanuel will be found. I hope I'm wrong. If he is in a landfill, the odds are that he won't be found. He was so tiny. I keep reminding myself that 20-month old Quentin Simon was (partially) found in a landfill, proving that it is possible. Of course, we don't know what LE knows, and they say they believe they know the area where his remains are located. If he was out in the open desert, he won't be found, but if he was in a container of some sort -- maybe?)

OMG!

You brutally beat you 10 week old newborn almost to death and leave her blind and paralyzed for life but taking a little course in abuse management makes you low risk to re-offend.
To be capable of such a savage beating on an infant you have to have the deepest rooted emotional/mental problems that no quick course could scratch the surface of.
So now throw in the 2 social workers who JH woo-ed with his deception with the DA, DDA and judge(s) who all gave JH free-range to strike again.
imo

Emmanuel Haro’s father Jake judged as low risk to abuse kids months before son ‘was tortured to death’

Oh my god, we are so sorry, sweet boy. You were born to despicable animals.

The Riverside County Public Defender's Office has assigned deputy public defenders Allison Lowe and Paulette Garthwaite to represent Jake Haro. He is also facing an older charge of being a convicted felon in possession of a gun and ammunition, which is strictly prohibited. He was convicted in 2023 of child abuse of another one of his children and was on probation at the time of the new charge.

Rebecca Haro will be represented by private attorney Jeff Moore, who was appointed by the court.

Sept 4

The search for Emmanuel continues.

Anyone with information on this case or the whereabouts of Emmanuel are encouraged to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Homicide Detail at 909-890-4904 or submit an anonymous tip to We-Tip.
I’m blanking, do we know details of the 2023 conviction? Which child?

Taken to task. Ummm, perhaps that’s because it is absolutely astonishing?

He was convicted in 2023 for the injuries suffered by his 10-week-old daughter in 2018. He wasn't charged until 2021 for that crime. He and his 2nd ex-wife both pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to a 180-day work program and she was sentenced to 120 days.

Very informative, thank you.

I'm curious if anything of Emmanuel's was left in the house or on the property and DNA could be gotten from it?
For example, If they did find clothes of his (dumpster?) that weren't washed.
Then if there was a significant amount of blood found in the house they could run tests to see if it matches any of his belongings.

It would be soooooooooooooooo nice if California's legal system were as clear about culpability as Fayette County's DA (in Pennsylvania) in a similar case, that of Renesmay Eutsey (there's a Websleuths thread for her). Here's what that DA has to say:

“There were certain things that we've observed, certain statements that we've had, and evidence that we've gathered that would seem to suggest that Anybody in the household would have been aware of what was going on,” Aubele said. “Any abuse that happens in front of a parent is to be reported. That parent is as responsible as the other if they don't.”

(The quote came from an article I linked in Post #13 of Renesmay's thread. Here it is again, so mods don't have to chase it down, but with the URL split into two lines so that it doesn't automatically display the article here and confuse or worse yet hijack sweet Emmanuel's thread: Heart wrenching details revealed in court documents about Fayette County 9-year-old's death

Why don't they just give up the location of the baby's remains? Do they really think anyone is going to believe that the kidnap happened when they had already disposed of the baby's stuff?! Idiots.

I bet they also texted each other about their little plot.

As for the judge who let JH off, I bet he believed that the mother did it really. Jake will no doubt try the same tactic this time round: "she did it! Im an innocent bystander!"

Works a bit less second time round though Jake. Sorry mate.

I think in the days after the false kidnapping report, when they realized their story was not believed, they made a pact not to give up the location of the body. I envision him telling her not to give up any info and they will get out of any charges. (Yet, he sent LE on a goose chase almost immediately, imo, which is weird.)

I wouldn't trust either of them to keep pact, if they made one. But so far, they are not turning on each other. I'm surprised, tbh.

Yeah good point.

I think he is pretending that he doesn't know. He's told LE "she told me it was here" in the hopes it will make him look innocent. Best thing she can do now is turn on him, but she prob won't. He's going to try and frame her for the whole thing, or create enough chaos and obfuscation that a jury find it impossible to work out the truth. I think he might find a murder trial different to his previous experience tho. JMO. Don't know much about the legal system but I hope so!

Do we know for certain that JH sent LE on a goose chase?

JH's presence at a search site doesn't mean for certain that he disclosed something to motivate a search there. It may be that other evidence (vehicle or phone location data, a witness report of a vehicle matching or similar to one owned by the Haro's parked in that area in a critical timeframe) led LE to the location where they were searching just off Highway 60 near where it intersects with Gilman Springs Rd and they took JH along to observe him as they searched.

I'll correct my goose-chase comment to include "imo" because I do think it was a goose chase initiated by JH.

Ohhh, thank you, makes sense that it took time. Ugh

True. It's strange that he was there either way. But even more strange that they didn't find anything there.

He's hardly a reliable witness, and his presence makes him seem more like a victim. Someone trying to remember something or piece clues together. It would make sense if he had admitted to burying his son, but since we know he hasn't done that it is so odd. jMO.

With all the facts he knew, and all the information that was available to him that he must have been familiar with, and being an actual longtime judge with a good reputation, and considering that judges are expected and usually known to be SMART and sensible and logical, I do not see how he could not have foreseen the likelihood for catastrophe, i.e., that JH would inevitably go on to harm other children in his care in the future if not locked up. imo.
Ab.so.lute.ly. Just why, why, why?
Grrrrrr.

Unbelievable, but it happened. Just damm.
"Judged as low risk." WTH -- low risk.
A sweet, beautiful miracle is now where all is perfect. He will never hurt or suffer again.
Angel wings for him. Forever.
