Weren't they new to Twenty-nine Palms? Other than possibly other military and the horse rescue did she know many people? Wondering if someone she knew in such a short time would have a reason to abduct her, a score to settle, etc.

Her phone usage patterns are important. Did she text and call a lot? When was the last phone call she made or received in which someone actually heard her voice? I guess her phone has not been found.

I imagine the phone records could still be obtained... Even if the cell phone has not been found?

There are two FB pages for finding Erin. Are these being done by different people? On the Locate Erin page, the aunt is of her husband is commenting some, but nobody is responding to the "read between the lines" comments. Confusing to me.

Conflicting reports about the phone being found. Recent post showed link that it had been found but others say no.
True they wouldn't have to have the phone.

Reporter stated that Mother said, Husband thought she might be staying at ranch/ friends reason for not reporting until the next morning.

That is interesting...

Per husband...

Erin was to go into Joshua Tree National Park that morning...

and later spend the night at a ranch with friends that night...(we have not read this yet, in MSM, so I wonder if husband shared this with LE in original discussion?)

I wonder if she stayed over night with friends at ranches often?

So very sad. In one picture, Erin has glasses on and looks a bit like Jessica Herringa. JH went missing from a gas station in Michigan.
Every time you turn around, there's another young woman missing. :scared:

I'm only going by the links I found and posted above, on page 13 of this thread, about the cell phone being found in an undisclosed location. You're right (Plumeria5) might not be the, correct info? I will try to see if I can find anything more, that talk about the cell phone, being found or not found. :)

It sounds like the Aunt thinks someone took her. That's the only thing I can think of that relates to her "read between the lines" comment.

When I saw that photo of Erin in the glasses, my first thought was that she looks just like Jessica Heeringa!!

Scroll through that page, find ALL the aunt's posts, and put them together. She's saying something very specific. It may not be true, but she's saying it. IMHO of course.

I am wondering since this news article mentions that news 3 reported that Erin's cell phone had been found in an undisclosed location, that the news station was perhaps privy to some information, that perhaps should have been kept under wraps, if there is now a dispute in MSM or social media over if the cell phone was found or not found. Maybe it was found, but stories might be recanted?
Maybe this is why LE is tight lipped?
Could this be why the info about where the car was found might not be adding up to where they are searching? Or is it just conflicting stories in MSM?
Maybe they are searching where the cell phone was found, if indeed it was found?
IMOO.

If it was a GPS phone maybe it was found...but if not, it would be pretty surprising to find it so quickly in such a large area, away from car. I am thinking maybe the phone was not found..and that they are following last activity. Jmo

There is absolutely no way the Marine Corps is telling this man not to speak to the media about his missing wife due to a random policy of some sort. There is something else going on here.

They will absolutely tell him not to speak to the media. I have no doubt in my mind. It's not a random policy. It's a very well known policy that everyone is briefed on.

Before Mickey Shunick's case was solved, I had about three convoluted theories going surrounding people she knew. (Not her male friend though.)
I was certain her perp would turn out to be someone she knew who was jealous of or had been rejected by her.
Her family, went on with their day because it was her little brother's graduation day and the dad was out on an oil rig (he had left home around the same time Mickey should have been home riding her bike up the driveway in the middle of the night). Every circumstance seemed off or not normal as far as I was concerned. She worked with horses and a relationship had soured recently with one of her fellow workers apparently. Then, thank God when there's good police work. The perp was a stranger and the crime a stranger abduction - an opportunist situation.

Another case that solved quickly was the young wife in Oregon, Whitney Heichel, who gave the weird neighbor who she knew casually, a ride as she was leaving early in the morning to drive to her job at Starbucks. He planned it and was an opportunist too. If LE hadn't solved the case quickly, I bet her husband would have been suspect and considered the number one perp forever.

Since we can't get full reports and make sense out of the comments (who doesn't report their young wife who was going out into the wilderness, and didn't return home by dark, missing or go out theirself searching for her?). Makes no sense to me.
But then I think, well, what if they had a disagreement so she did leave the house to get away (was he bound, meaning duty, to stay home all day Saturday? - if home free for the weekend, why not go with her if they were happy?). Are they so young (he's a Marine though) that they are oblivious to danger? IMO, Marines tend to be the most protective types (personalities) in all the armed forces. We had joint assignments so I met a smattering from each branch of service. Marines, in general, are a tough bunch and (I'm stereotyping) protective by nature. My husband knows this, because we joke about it now, but the one time I could have fallen in love with someone else, it was a Marine who caught my attention. I digress.

What the heck happened to Erin? Why did she venture out so early in the morning to wander the wilderness by herself?
Why wasn't there greater concern when she didn't return home by dark? Why no attempt to trace her steps then?
She could have run out of gas or fallen ill from heat sickness.
Where is her phone (if its been found, LE may not want that info detailed). When I read the phone was found in JT park, I thought 'wow, how lucky is that?'. Now, we don't know if that's true or not.
Anyway, tons more questions. Was she left behind in the park, never made it to the park, met foul play nearby to where her car was found?
Did she meet foul play before ever making it to JT park but after leaving her house? (like Whitney did)
As is usually the case, why hasn't LE issued a description of the clothing she was seen wearing when leaving the house?

We just don't know.

On the scales, things do seem a bit hinky surrounding the main story imo. But I've been so, so wrong and shocked at outcomes before so speculation equals nothing more than possibilities.

I completely disagree with you. It is the policy of all branches of the armed forces and there isn't a soldier out there that's willing to go against what he/she is told by their Commanding Officer.

Exactly. Even government civilians and contractors are briefed the exact same policy. You can be in a great deal of trouble for going against those orders.

  • #358
A commanding officer isn't going to tell the husband of a missing wife not to appeal to the media to find her. That's nonsense. The media policy/vetting pertains primarily to soldiers speaking about corps policy, protocol, or secrets. None of that relates to this case.

The "black out" was done by law enforcement and/or the family themselves, and almost certainly not the corps.

This is completely false. If he appears a certain way, or says the wrong thing, the media will run with it and at the least, can cause major distractions for his fellow Marines. If this happened on or near the military base, it makes it even more the reason that he is not allowed to talk.

I'm on a mac and I see them. Do you have flashblock or anything like that?

I'm not sure what all of our settings are but I've had problems with some other sites due to our router/security settings. I was logged in to FB and still couldn't view them. No big deal.

That's the way I took it also. In that case, IF she's done it before, it would make sense.

Plus, they have only lived together for a short time. Maybe he wasn't sure if she would stay over?
