So I'm guessing her car was found in a parking lot somewhere? I previously had the impression that it was parked on the side of a road but if that were true, it would suggest direction of travel.

"Corwin's Toyota Corolla was found in Twentynine Palms on Monday, but the car held no indication of which way she was going or her current whereabouts, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said."

Maybe LE knows what happened, but maybe they think she is alive? Ransom with specific demands? No leaking info to the public? Just a different look at it...

Her car was found on Valley Vista Road between Condor Road and Utah Trail.

Hehehe banned camp!

Been there done that, (not for quite a while), never saw it written that way. Cute!

Ah, the memories!

Maybe it is misleading, but Erin's sister-in-law called her timid.
" "She's just really timid and she has a terrible sense of direction,” Heavilin said."

That seems to me like what an aunt in law might believe if the husband or his immediate family had a habit of speaking negatively about Erin. My former in laws used to think I couldn't cook at all and that I was stupid and lazy, thanks to the negative PR my MIL spread about me. They hadn't spent time with me, they were forming these impressions from her hostile gossip. MOO

I've read through the messages up to here and one (of many) questions comes to mind if anyone knows the answers to.

Where the car was found is stated as near the base entrance. Was it within walking distance to anything? Where I'm going is Bad thing happened in the park and bad guy drove car back to civilization. Walk back on base? Or maybe mass transportation stop within walking distance from where car was left?

She was 5'2". Was the driver's seat rammed forward? (Take it from a guy that is married to a 5'2 girl) It'll be moved up if she's driving last. Being pregnant would mean the seat may be leaned back but I'd bet it was scooted forward to reach the pedals.

If the car left in the dirt/sand, any tracks from the driver's side of the person leaving the car. Military boots vs girls flip flops or tennis shoes.

Though lurking for a few years, this is my first post. Has a timeline been drawn up yet?

Bumping this up for you Jash. FWIW, I don't think there are any parking lots in the area. I think this is another example of LE being tight lipped with details.

Under updated press release on find Erin facebook, commenter JL posted that she saw Erin's car and it was pointed toward the base. It was on Valle Vista between Condor and Utah Trail.

The car location is definitely within walking distance of a base entrance. Ironically, for as desolate as the area is, this would be about as good place as any to have car problems.

The car would be within walking distance to base. It would be a bit longer of a walk but there are other homes and if you continue towards adobe: the main gate, and a small strip mall type place. Other then Highway 62/29 Palms Highway, Adobe Road is the busiest in town. The side gate that the car was by isn't always open. They have limited operating hours based on the time of the year and what's going on.

I am thinking that someone from the base was "interested" in her and she did NOT encourage him.......he found an opportunity to hurt her and then drove the car back to base. I do not think the husband was involved at all but may know the perp casually......this is all just my opinion.

It seems within the realm of possibility that she made it to the park, got out to look around a bit and left the car running and it was jacked and then abandoned. Seems unlikely, but that could be one reason LE is looking for her in the park when her car is no longer there.

I think that has about a 1% chance of being the case.

This case reminds me of the woman in Oregon. I apologize for not being able to remember her name. She was carjacked in the morning by a neighbor, who killed her, dumped her body and left her car in the parking lot of a store or mall. I think the perp will be someone who lives near her.

Welcome!! All those are great questions that I doubt we'll get the answers to. Nobody is talking and all I've seen from family is that she must have gotten lost. Not sure how she got lost if her car is right there. That car didn't drive itself there! I think Erin had enough sense not to walk off into the desert IF she did get lost. These are just my own thoughts.

It tells me that they are confident the vehicle was at the park. Is there a fee to enter the park? If so, they usually issue a receipt.

The ratio of male to females is pretty high. There aren't lots of single gals out that way. A lot of Marines become attached to their friend's wives, in an appropriate fashion, the majority of the time. You are out there alone so you develop a family like bond with the people you work with, socialize with etc.
