That she is being held out there? That does not seem likely to me.

Seems pretty farfetched to me as well but I'm grasping for straws here.

I am still very confused about the search area. Why are they so convinced that she can be found in the JT park area, when her car was already back at the base? I wonder what evidence they have to keep them in that area? Did they find her cell there? Did it ping there last? Was that Park Ranger correct about the sighting maybe?

I've asked the same question. Per the family they have not been told by LE that her phone has been found so they don't think it has been. I just can't figure out why they aren't searching the area where her car was found. That would make a lot more sense, in my opinion. Then again, what do I know? :banghead:

Maybe LE has video of someone other than Erin leaving the car where it was found, and the last trace of her is a phone ping in the park?

A few of my friends from Oak Ridge have told me that they know the husband's family. His parents apparently divorced, his mom remarried and recently lost her husband to Lou Gehrig's disease. They claim that she is a really wonderful person. So, I have heard that both moms are super sweet and need answers here. I would never have thought otherwise and I hope beyond hope that something positive breaks in this case. Unfortunately, we've seen this too many times and the odds are not good for poor Erin the longer the time ticks by. I am so sad for this family and I really hope that she is found safely and soon.

She [Erin's mother] said she had been planning to come to Twentynine Palms on Wednesday, July 2, to help celebrate her daughter’s 20th birthday, but got there two days before that.

Corwin, she said, is number six of seven children.

“She started working at 14,” Heavilin said, describing her daughter as a very responsible young lady who “loved, loved, loved animals” and is an avid equestrian.

“She is not very adventurous. I had to make her get a driver’s license at 18,” Heavilin said. “She tended to get lost easily.”
This, she said, was her first thought when she found out her daughter was missing. “I just assumed she was lost and hoped she had enough water with her,” she said.

Erin and John, she said, have known each other for eight years. They met because his sister had a horse in the same stable where Erin kept a horse. They started dating on her 16th birthday.

Heavilin remarked that when John was transferred to Twentynine Palms he was also immediately deployed so Corwin had to make the move on her own. “She actually did very, very well with it,” she said, noting that her daughter flew out to California on her own and dealt with the movers and all the other details of the move on her own.

She confirmed reports that her daughter is pregnant but said she had not determined how far along she was when she went missing.

The mother of Erin’s Marine husband Jonathan Corwin said she’s particularity concerned about the attention that has focused on Jonathan.
“I know that it’s everyone’s first thought that it’s the spouse,” Sheila Braden told ABC News, “but if they knew John and Erin, and the relationship they had, they would know he’s not capable of this.”

Multiple users were blocked from Praying for Erin, the Facebook group aimed at spreading the word about Corwin’s disappearance.

The group, despite being flooded with supportive messages, also attracted speculative comments from strangers, particularly about the husband. An update posted yesterday acknowledged the “suspicions, doubts, and questions,” but asserted that “conspiracy theories” are not helpful.

I wonder how long she was there alone till her husband came back home?
Could someone have helped her out during this time wants her for himself?

She reminds me of Erin from the Waltons!

That's a good thought, but if they believe she were being held for ransom somewhere, it doesn't seem that they would be pouring God knows how much into this intense search of the desert.

True. Unless they have an idea of where she is being held.

I do agree with an above post though, most likely they found evidence in the car-blood, tampering, signs of a struggle, etc.

I am not too familiar with ransom cases. Do they typically still search for the person while negotiations are happening?

Maybe not held out there, but looking for evidence to go along with the ransom? I mean I am probably way off base, but the lack of details, lack of search parties, seems very different to say the least

I have no idea. In all my years on WS I don't think I've ever seen a ransom case. I wouldn't think so though.

I wish LE would hold a presser and take media questions. The family is doing a great job giving interviews but there are to many unknowns. My main questions would be:

Besides JC(husband) who last saw Erin?

What was she last seen wearing?

What is the condition of her car?

Does LE believe the public is in any danger or is this an isolated incident?

Up next on JVM.

has anyone seen anything that explicitly states that she left the combat center in her car?

Mom very supportive of her SIL on Greta now. Said he loves her very much. She was 'like the moon and stars' for him.

Mom seems like an intelligent woman. She is convincing me to be less suspicious of the husband. She seems very down to earth and no nonsense.
