I read the people magazine article last night... the only thing that was in there that I had not noticed before was that her car was found with footsteps beside it that led to tracks from another car.

Someone picked her up there or drove her car there and got in another car...

Where are you, Erin?

hi everyone, i been following this case, too and i agree on the mine theory, back in 1989, a USMC captain ( female ) went missing, she had a rocky divorce by a former marine, who was just moving off base as she was moving into bachelor quarters on base Quantico VA., her name is
Shirley Gibbs Russell http://www.websleuths.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-37723.html the military did an extensive search in PA in the mines, as it is believed the husband dropped her into a mine and then dropped a grenade into the shaft, sealing it, and they never found her body. He went on trial and was convicted , without a body. they also did an FBI files episode on that case "dishonored" was the episode name.

That information was in the probable cause statement from the ranch search.

Thanks for this. According to this article "Months before his wife was reported missing, Russell announced he was going to kill her and bragged, "They'll never be able to prove I did It. They may suspect me, but they'll never be able to prove it," according to testimony from his lover at the time."

Note to murderers who haven't been arrested yet: Don't get too smug as arrests and convictions might be lurking just around the corner!

We've heard that Erin's family has returned to TN. In my opinion they have resolved themselves to the fact that she most likely wont be found alive. How very sad for them. Not sure where I'm going with this post other than to wonder if others on here feel the same as me?

I was just thinking that family members must be completely emotionally exhausted by now. Too worn out to do anything other than grieve, cherish the life that was, and go home. I think they know pretty much what happened, who did it and why. Justice will come one way or another.

I think that would be so difficult, to have to go home without any resolution. My heart aches for them. They must have a constant gnawing ache at the pit of their stomach. I can only hope the person/people responsible do, too.

You are nicer than me, MzOpinion8d! I'm hoping the guilty party feels more than just a gnawing ache. Sleepless nights, haunting visions, and a burning ulcer would be the start of how I hope they feel....

I'm pretty sure that the gnawing ache was for EC's family not her murderer/s. Just My POV.

I believe amm was referring to the BBM portion of MO8d's post, Ms Sassy.

If I have read the info on the thread correctly, (and please correct me if I haven't), Mrs. L told Horse Ranch woman that LE "missed" something in her garage when they did a search. What would that have been? Another weapon? A possession of EC's?

This Horse Ranch woman needs to stop playing games and start providing some answers, IN MY OPINION ONLY.
What exactly is the nature of her relationship to this couple? Why is she being so evasive under such dire circumstances?
It's one thing to say that the L couple she knows couldn't possibly be responsible, but has gone far beyond that point, IN MY OPINION ONLY.
I find her allegiance to this couple extremely odd, and most especially under the current circumstances.
All speculation and opinion only.

Yes, I was referring to the last line of the post in which she referenced the person or people responsible for whatever happened to Erin.

Just playing catch up from the weekend. Huge thanks to Voice for all the mine info! I've seen them in the area, but had no clue there were that many in and near JT. I'm starting to think it's looking more unlikely she will ever be found, as the days pass.

So sorry. Just trying to help.

Possibly this is a stupid idea, but is there any chance that Erin did go out to JT, and CL didn't show up on time, and while she was waiting she wandered around and fell into a mine or ran into a rattlesnake or something? And when CL got there he found her and instead of going for help, just left her?

I don't think your idea is stupid, however, I don't really think any of those scenarios are very probable. Why would CL leave her if he found her dead or wounded? I know that would take care of his problem (if he feels he has one) but it seems like it would be a reaction to call 911 and possibly regret it after doing so. We have to remember he is still pretty young and dumb and doesn't have the forethought of people older with more years of wisdom under our belts. I was going to say experience but I have zero experience (or wisdom) when it comes to murder.

I know there has been some speculation but I can't really reconcile in my head how Erin's car ended up where it did. Did she meet up with CL, leave her car there and get in to his Jeep with him? Did she meet him in JT and later he and the wife went back, got her car and left it where LE found it? For me, this is a huge piece of the puzzle I can't figure out.

I'm just having trouble making this whole thing fit. He's young and dumb and full of hormones, and he just doesn't seem like the kind to take anything seriously enough to kill somebody over it, y'know?

Okay. Do you think his wife would take it seriously enough to do harm? I totally get what your saying but if he/they didn't do something, where is she? What could have possibly happened to her? I don't think JC was involved with her disappearance.
