well, that's not totally correct. there are still many benefits for discharged vets. He would have alot more than a home loan available to him.

Also, for them to dishonorably discharge him, they will need to recall him back to active duty, then if convicted, they will dishonorably discharge him. It won't be automatic

Ordinarily I'd say no, but I wouldn't put it past this department. Remember these are the guys who sent out a press release stating "there are no suspects or 'persons of interest' identified." two weeks after their prime suspect was so well "identified" they managed to get search warrants on three properties and four vehicles he had access to. 'Can you just imagine the questions and the jurors eyes upon hearing that they were lying on purpose to protect the investigation?'

Why, yes, actually I can. I don't think the jury would have any problem with that at all. I have been on juries for two murder trials and would not have had any problem with it at all because I understand the need for Operational Security. In order to protect both the investigation and innocent people who must be cleared through the course of the investigation, I think it's perfectly reasonable to release information on a need to know basis and, for the most part, the general public simply does not need to know. I'm as nosy as the next person but I'm also willing to wait for the chips to fall rather than be swept off the table by too much information getting out.

However, telling a civilian and potential witness to lie is entirely different. I think that would cause a huge blow up and rightfully so. JMO. Obviously, yours differs greatly from mine.

If Erin did in fact tell her sister this it looks to me like she was planning to go off with C.L. and this was why she was not upset that he was supposed to be going back to Alaska. I think he conned her into believing they had a life together and that he was happy she was pregnant. All this to get her comfortable enough to go off hunting. Strange way to celebrate a pregnancy but then love is blind when you are infatuated. JMOO

I could be wrong, but I don't recall the context of their discussion being that current. It was more when they were younger, discussing people who went missing. And her position was 'I can take care of myself, give me some time to escape before you call the police'. I thought at the time that was very naïve and full of teen bravado. And, based on what happened to her, tragically mistaken.

Lee was arrested Sunday night just a block from the Jewel Lake home where he&#8217;d been staying with relatives since his return to Anchorage. Police said he came back to the state last month after being honorably discharged from the Marines. Anchorage police picked him up during a traffic stop without incident.

&#8220;We had our special assignment unit respond and during a traffic stop they were able to locate Christopher Brandon Lee, apprehend him without incident and he was taken to the Anchorage Jail,&#8221; said Anchorage Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Castro.

Lee is expected to spend a few weeks in Anchorage before his extradition to California to face murder charges.

yea, it never really matters what they hold back from the public... so long as they follow proper procedures during the investigation. The media is really nothing more than a tool for them. Not a log of proceedings.

When you are discharged or released from active duty, you are still in reserve status. In effect, you can be recalled in an emergency. So yes, he will receive a dishonorable discharge, which is the very least of his worries. And btw, only retired military have benefits anymore and not much at that. He likely could have gotten a VA loan to buy a home but no more. And Nicole will get zip...unless maybe arrested herself.

Perhaps it varies based on your service and what you all signed up for when enlisting/reenlisting. (I've known some people to not sign up for GI Bill and later regret it.) Our reservist benefits include GI Bill, commissary privileges, MWR benefits, and VA loan to name some off the top of my head. We can also elect to pay for Tricare. We've had some friends go that route bc they found Tricare to be cheaper than their other insurance options. Our reservist benefits are very valuable to us. JMO.

Agree. I don't think I've ever come across anyone complaining about their veteran benefits. Navy could be different I suppose, but the Army still offers alot.
