I agree it would be unlikely for her husband to say “she’s not on meds” to LE if she were on something regular such as SSRI’s.

However, I do think it would be understandable for him to say “she’s not on meds” if she had an rx for something occasional- like valium etc. If I were in his shoes I probably would have said no meds as well, because the rx would not be something she needed. It could have even slipped his mind because it was a rare occasion she took it. It is however this type of drug, when taken in too high a quantity or mixed with something else, that can have potentially lethal complications. All MOO of course as we have no COD given at this point.

Totally agree, although if it were me, I would definitely mention valium, xanax or any other psychoactive drug that could be used for sleep. I'd want to know if they found the meds in her things, and how many were in the bottle, if it were my loved one.

On Tuesday, the overnight low was about 60° and temps peaked briefly at 86° (just to add another line of inquiry).

At the time, the newspapers said the "alarm wasn't raised" until she failed to show up at the Awards on Wednesday night (does that mean that's when MSM looked into the story?)

BBM

Speaking only from my own attempts, I couldn’t find anything- whatsoever- in MSM until Friday the 11th.

I became aware of EV on Thursday the 10th from a local Nextdoor posting. I tried in vain to find something official so that I could start a WS thread, but it wasn’t until Friday that I came across an MSM story.

All to say, I don’t know when MSM was contacted but I know I personally found zippo until Friday.

If she was not assaulted in any way, or robbed, I can’t see why anyone would slip her drugs. People are unlikely to drug someone and then just go away, imo.
Pal Alto/Los Altos area, my hometown, is a very odd place, in terms of psychedelics/new age smart drug usage. Especially among the hi tech entrepeuners. And 'dosing' someone can happen accidentally, especially if you are tripping already yourself.

It just takes one tiny drop to dose someone. And that can go in through eating, drinking or even through the skin. Also, people make edible LSD/ecstacy/shrooms, etc. People accidentally eat dosed edibles more than one might think, in the Bay Area.

Also, we don't know how many old friends or business acquaintances and even competitors she came across that day. She was on Sand Hill Road, one of the main streets in high tech land.

My new theory is that someone she was competing against, for well sought after venture capitol, might have dosed her, in an effort to ruin her awards ceremony and her quest for financial support. ?

Sand Hill Road is Now the Wall Street of the West Coast

Everyone is talking about replicating and building the “next Silicon Valley” with the rise of Silicon “roundabouts” and Silicon “beaches” in several locations around the world. While this is going on very few people are talking about how Silicon Valley is evolving: specifically that Sand Hill Road is now the Wall Street of the West Coast.

Not venturing far from home: Why VCs won't leave Sand Hill Road

Given 21st century communications, there’s no compelling reason why Venture Capital firms continue to cluster on Sand Hill Road — except that they do. The buildings lining this street remain some of the most expensive and sought-after office space in the country....

Brilliant post @katydid23 -- thank you.

I clung to sabotage for days -- going back and forth but kept thinking this kid's a New Yorker, and too street smart for any prey.

I hate that's she's gone -- leaving her husband, family and friends. But I do sense she's at peace, wherever she is. ;)

Yes, thank you @katydid23 . A classmate of mine is a venture capitalist and I see him traveling the world on FB, always to come home to his offices on Sand Hill. It's a good spot for him, as he lives in Marin County, and can just zip in on the 280 when he needs to. He's not in the office a lot. It's been fascinating watching him visit various places with high tech investments to be made (autonomous vehicles are the most recent posts).

I lived in that area for 13 years, myself. One of my family members (BiL) was really into psychedelics and sold them throughout that area (he lived in Woodside), in SF and as far away as Berkeley. This was decades ago. I knew people who dropped acid daily for very long periods of time (and functioned). I knew others for whom it was a weekend thing and all of these were people I truly liked and admired, I was just way too serious/anxious to get any closer to that scene.

Since I believe Erin's husband that she had no prior history of serious mental illness, I think the designer drug/hallucinogen angle is a good one (I guess even mushrooms could lead to a small break with reality - she was clearly still able to drive and park the car). I just keep wondering how it is she went to sleep in the back of that car and did not wake up. Something else is involved (had she gone without sleep while traveling? most healthy adults will wake up if they are becoming overheated...it was cool enough until about 2 pm the next day, she should have awakened.)

What happened??

I really think this is just an accidental overdose or reaction to a recreational drug she willingly took (and then didn't fess up to or maybe even didn't even remember taking). I knew nothing of this culture, but after reading this thread it seems like it is really mainstream there. When in Rome....

yeah, for sure, I think..
The only drug I thought likely as a possibility before a flight might be mDMA.. there's an up period which can be really rocky and horrible, talking too fast, nausea and vomiting, racing heart thoughts ideas... but when the plateau is reached, if the person is still alive, it's a very smooth trip. I could see someone doing this before a flight just fr the hell of it, expecting the drug to have settled prior to take-off..
new area, new supplier, no guarantee of purity... but that's just speculation.. based on a user being familiar with the dug and having had prior experience of it. I'm still favoring the medical anomaly theory. Against that is that anything blatantly medical would most likely have been discovered at preliminary autopsy..

I wish I knew what happened.

Her discussion of being in the matrix just sounded so much like someone who was tripping on something.

But I don't understand why the death happened. I would have expected she would be exhausted at some point, and fall into a deep sleep. I don't understand why she didnt wake up however.

Perhaps there were contra-indications with other drugs/medications she was taking?

Or she may have become severely dehydrated during the manic phase? That's how many of the deaths from ecstasy happen.

It is very tragic. She seemed to be such a vibrant, intelligent young woman, at the start of her exciting life journey. RIP sweet Erin.

The only thing I can think of is positional asphixiation, aspiration of vomit, or heart attack. Hyperthermia (heat syncope) is possible if the drug was meth. To be honest though, unless she re-dosed at some point most illicit drugs would no longer be affecting her after 6-10 hours, even LSD (for most people). I still feel this is a drug intoxication event but its more complicated that she" just took something one time" and died.

*aspiration of vomit...curiousobserver

Quite possible...imo........

I have never heard of someone taking MDMA before a flight, but who knows. Anyway, the experience you describe is not absolute and people's reactions vary wildly. For instance, any time I've taken molly I got anxious and extremely tired, which is uncommon. Majority of people just feel good once it kicks in, without the "up period" you describe. FWIW, molly is a club drug... intentionally taking it before a flight (and going through airport security) sounds like a terrible experience hah.

Perhaps a tincture? Or edible injected with something else?

what does molly contain, I never heard of it?

Molly is the street name for MDMA, however it is often cut with chalk, baking powder, sugar, etc to form the pill and can contain an unpredictable dose. I doubt very much Erin's death has to do with MDMA.

since its not legal, could me a mix of a bunch of things. sometimes there is meth, sometimes there is heroin or fentynel mixed in

I agree. I took ecstacy several times in my club days in the 90's, and did LSD many times when I was a 'dead head', growing up in the Bay Area, and going to UC Berkeley in the 70's. Too many times to count...

I loved it when I was dancing to the music. But any kind of intrusive experience with security or LE is very unwanted and uncomfortable.....

Dabbing can be dangerous too. Don’t know if that’s popular out there.
(Not the dab dance aka Cam Newton)

Molly is also sold in powder form. Dealers can users put the powder into capsules, but it’s also common to just be sold in powder form. And yes it’s often cut with other things, especially cheaper prescription and OTC pills.

eta - I’m not an addict and thankfully have never been addicted to street drugs. I’ve just done my fair share of partying down the (jersey) shore in my 20s. I’m erins age now and don’t really party much anymore. But I’ve seen some 🤬🤬🤬🤬. A lot of sh*t actually. I really don’t think Erin would take molly before a flight. It also has a bitter taste so I would also be surprised if it was slipped in her drink or something similar.
