One POI in custody atm.

Something on his person may link him to the dead suspect. He was also wearing black.

At least 2 dead at the house, not sure if that is random.

1 dead at Cloverfield and Pico intersection
2 dead at Pearl
1 woman who died at the hospital
The suspect at the college

Did I get those right?

I'm hearing 6 dead not counting the gunman.

They are naming the two victims on twitter who lived at the home. The live news listed the address and it was easy to find who lived there...

Reporter asking whether the Mother (presumably of the suspect and former resident of burned house) has been located/questioned. Not known, yet.

That is the asian guy dressed in black. They showed him in handcuffs earlier on local new. Still not cleared. Odd.

Police: Gunman killed 6 in Santa Monica shootings

http://bigstory.ap.org/article/gunman-shoots-vehicles-near-calif-college

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — A gunman with an assault-style rifle killed at least six people in Santa Monica on Friday before police shot him to death in a gunfight in the Santa Monica College library, authorities said.

Santa Monica Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks told reporters the rampage began at a house in the coastal city before the gunman, dressed all in black, made his way to Santa Monica College.

Seabrooks said he killed two people in the house, which caught fire, two more people as he moved several blocks toward the campus, and then two more on campus.

He entered the library and fired on other people but didn't hit them, Seabrooks said............

The campus was searched for a second shooter, and a man dressed entirely in black, with the words "Life is a Gamble" on the back of his sweatshirt, was seen being taken into custody by law enforcement officers. He did not appear to be wounded.

"We are not convinced 100 percent that the suspect who was killed operated in a solo or alone capacity," Seabrooks said......more......

Local news has shown SWAT pack up and leave. Now, there is a huge LA Sheriff helicopter on the football field, officers loading up and leaving.

:furious:

Zipping my lips.

Same!

OT but related: I just got the nerve to write to my sister (didn't want to alarm her earlier...she lives in HI). Her eldest granddaughter attends SMC.

ETA: Got quick reply from my nephew (her father):

She's okay. She is at school now and she was there during the shooting. I'm not sure in
what building.

She has been released from lockdown but her car is still in an area where she can get to
it. The police told her it will be a little while longer.

(maybe he means can't get to her car?)

From the looks of local news, ALL of Santa Monica is a crime scene! It's crazy. So many scenes. They just showed the blue bus scene and it's near the 10.

It' going to take her months to get her car. At least she is ok. Whew.

Local news is showing a blue car in the middle of the campus, saying it's the suspects. How the heck did he drive his car there? There is more to this story...

Is that the Mazda? (I've been distracted for a few but still have FoxNews video running on other PC). TIA :-)
