They were a very religious family, right? Especially the mother? I cannot recall where I got that impression - if I read it somewhere or something.

Isn't suicide considered a sin in the Christian and Catholic religions? It seems strange to me that they would committ suicide if their relgious beliefs say they will go to Hell for committing such a sin.

Update on Deaths of SC Family, Ucars

Vol. 3, Issue 31, July 31-August 6, 2008

THE LATEST: Toxicology reports are nearing completion, and results will soon allow detectives to determine what happened in a downstairs room of the Ucar’s Sea Pointe Estates home in San Clemente two months ago. Five family members were found dead May 25, and authorities have been leaning toward the possibility they all committed suicide, having deduced that no outsider committed a crime.

Husband and wife, Manas, 58, and Margrit, 49, had each suffered one gunshot wound, and there were two guns found on the floor next to them. Both guns were registered to Margrit, said Dan Salcedo, homicide detective with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. No gunshots were found in the bodies of their twin daughters, Grace and Margaux, 21, or Margrit’s mother, Fransuhi Kesisoglu, 72. The family was found dressed in black.

WHAT’S NEXT: Substances were found in all of the bodies, but conclusions couldn’t be made until amounts were quantified, Salcedo said. The reports need to be finalized to find out who died when and from what.

The last mention was it was suicide due to financial problems.

I don't expect all the details to come out like in this recent case.

Wow, that is so sad - my goodness. There were other ways out.

I still can't believe in the Ucar case, they would kill the twin daughters - they had their entire lives ahead of them, degreed and all. Not that the other case isn't as sad and tragic.

Thanks Tom's Girl for the update. I seem to recall something about the wife's (mom's) brothers or other family members trying to inherit her business. I have heard she was both interested in jewelry and real estate.

Anyone know or hear anything regarding this?

BTW- Thanks again TG for the updates- You know I luv ya :blowkiss:

The mom owned a jewerly atrium at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, Ca. I used to live in NB and we travel there for vacations after we moved.. Anyway, I love shopping at the atriums and after seeing the moms picture, she did look familiar - but not sure if I am grasping. What was interesting though, our last trip out there about two months ago ish -- I was looking forward to scouting out the atriums and there are NONE!!! Usually, they are all over the outdoor mall, but all of them were removed and I am not sure why. Anyway, pretty interesting if you ask me!

Death of San Clemente family determined to be suicide pact
OCRegister - Santa Ana,CA,USA
Tuesday, November 18, 2008

snip
After her mother and twin daughters took a lethal dose of medication, Margrit Ucar, 48, shot her husband and then fatally shot herself, said Jim Amormino, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Department. But before being shot, Manas Ucar, her 58-year-old husband, is believed to have taken a deadly amount of Vicodin.

Details on the bizarre death were released today after toxicology results on the family members' bodies were completed, but authorities said there is still no indication why the family took their lives.

I wonder if the girls and gramma were given a fatal dose of something and didn't know it or if they took it themselves? So the wife shot her husband and then herself. She had more gutts then I would ever have. I guess we will never know what was going on in that family to cause such a horror. Would everyone really agree to die together? I just can't imagine. As a christian it is hard to understand the wife shooting her husband and then herself or giving her daughters and her mom fatal doses of something that she knew would kill them. I can't imagine anything bad enough that would cause a whole family to want to commit suicide and murder. Sounds like they all had black on for a reason. This is just to horrible to even try to understand.
