As of Friday, Dec. 19, Madera had not been located, said the California Highway Patrol.

*****
The substitute teacher from Huron, was last seen around 10:40 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, in Kings County in Armona.

A body located in Corcoran, in Kings County, earlier this week is not related to the case, said the CHP detective José Cabrera.

*****
Madera’s family filed a missing person report with the Kings County Sheriff’s Office on Dec. 14.

*****
According to the CHP, Madera’s vehicle, a four-door 2008 Honda Civic, was located on Dec. 15, two days after he went missing.

Family members say Madera’s vehicle was located off the Hwy. 198 by the state’s aqueduct in the orchards.

Family members say he was heading home but never arrived.

Madera is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing around 190 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a gold cross chain, a black shirt, dark jeans, and a red Ariat jacket with the Mexican flag on the back, along with Ariat boots.

Armona to Huron is roughly 32 miles, no word on where his cell phone is? Car's just don't disappear? The easiest route would be to take 198.

The initial report stated the car was found near an aquaduct. But Francisco is still missing. The fact that the missing report states to look both near "land and water" to me means there is a risk he might have gone into the water. Here is the general location of the aquduct. The report didn't say specifically where the car was in relation to it, simply "near". Governor Edmund G Brown California Aqueduct · California

So his vehicle was located IN the orchards or on the road going through the orchards. They aren’t very clear on this. In other words did someone try to ditch his car in the orchards where it may not be seen or does the highway go through the orchards and was parked alongside the road. I’m not familiar with the area so do not know if orchards are on both sides. This is unfortunately not sounding good at all. I hope his family finds answers soon.

MOO and speculation.

Thanks, that part wasn't clear to me. The thought his car was ditched in the orchards is a good one. Seen that in many cases I've followed in the central valley over the years, also to include an orchard being the murder site. If you zoom in close on my map link, you can see all the orchards on 198.

If a body goes into the aqueduct, it's going to be discovered - IMO.

Have you seen anyone mention what FM was doing in Hanford/Armona that night?

Here's where the aqueduct intersects with 198 near Huron.

Thanks for the good map @Knox . I checked additional social media and news and didn't see what his plans were that night.

In the US, what would an aqueduct be like? For me here in the UK, it’s a bridge for boats, like a suspended canal in the air. Is that the same? If so, it’s worrying that his car would be found near a bridge. But looking at the map, I’m wondering if it’s more like a canal or tunnel for moving water?

Anyone know if the aqueduct has water right now?

The opening post says to look on and water - from Huron (where his car was found) to Santa Clarita (where the aqueduct terminates at Lake Castaic). I've seen the aqueduct levels vary seasonally, but never dry.

If he isn't located on land, I hope they will call in Juan Heredia, the volunteer diver from Stockton who has been so successful over the past couple of years.

I have not read anywhere if his car was drivable or if it broke down, ran out of gas etc.

Not saying it’s impossible to make it all the way to Castaic, but typically bodies in an aqueduct hang up on gate valves, ladders, flow devices, ect. Or they float and someone sees them. I would think after this much time, they have checked key points already.

But yes, Juan is amazing!!!

"We truly need the help to locate our older brother and bring him home," said the younger siblings of Francisco Madera.

Family members of Madera said they had to celebrate his birthday this past Sunday without him for the first time.

"We need help with people who have radars, sonars, and search dogs. Any help will go a long way for us," said the younger siblings of Francisco Madera.

Juan Heredia, a rescue diver, posted to Facebook saying he searched miles for Francisco in the aqueduct with no luck.

@Unalienable Rights - Juan searched for Francisco with no luck :(

Thank you for posting this, @Knox. I was hopeful that Juan might be able to locate Francisco. Not that I want Francisco to be deceased, of course, but if he is no longer living I hope that he will be found and returned to his family.
