Thanks for sharing. This latest government memo regarding bond hearings will make detention even worse. Here's an article about an Irish person who was detained for "months."

Irish tourist jailed by Ice for months after overstaying US visit by three days: ‘Nobody is safe’
Exclusive: For roughly 100 days, Thomas says he faced harsh detention conditions, despite agreeing to deportationwww.theguardian.com
I agree it's unlikely that Mr Pal has been detained, just pointing out that this tourist was never "officially detained," merely "taken into custody." He was behind bars for 100 days, shuffled here and there, never learned why exactly until he was finally released without ever being detained or on any list.
Fortunately, his girlfriend was with him when it happened, so they knew where he was. Well, they didn't actually know the exact where (which would drive me personally crazy if I were the family member). But they knew what had happened and could keep putting pressure on to find out where he actually was. He was ill and had been told by doctors not to fly due to fear of blood clots.
So there is a difference between "held behind bars in a facility used for detentions" and the actual process of "legal detainment." It is the second thing that gets into the public database (supposedly, eventually). Here's another example of a 17 day stay (without due process or being formally detained) of another Irish tourist - she was in a detention center but eventually released without formal detainment:

Irish woman detained by US immigration released after 17 days in custody
Cliona Ward, who has lived legally in US for decades, was returning from trip to Ireland when held over criminal record from 20 years agowww.theguardian.com
She had a lawyer and was able to get processes in motion to save herself from an actual detention (and deportation).
None of last week's detainees from near where I live here in SoCal. There are a reported 400 of them - we know for certain that some of them are citizens, as one is the grandson of a high school classmate of mine - and that classmate was born on US soil, as were his children and grandchildren. The grandson is 16. The other citizens include people known to my colleagues and family members - I'd say we have a count of about 10.
Of course, it's only been a week and 1 day.
My own fear is that local PD's are going to have to disentangle all of this in cases like Mr Pal's, in a region where LE is already stretched thin.
IMO. I guess in a way I'm being optimistic, hoping that Mr Pal is relatively safe while in custody somewhere, rather than the other alternatives.
How sad. Thank you for the update. “No suspicious circumstances” has me a bit baffled. I wonder what happened? Fishing was mentioned but is it also a place where people stop and swim? Maybe if there is someone familiar with the area, they can advise?FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The body of Surinder Pal, a well-known businessman in the Central Valley, has been found.
The Clovis Police Department says that Pal's body was found in a canal along Temperance Avenue just south of McKinley on Thursday.
Authorities say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding Pal's death at this time, but are still investigating.

To say “no suspicious circumstances”, to me, imo, would mean accident, suicide, or a medical event. How sad. Thank you for the update. “No suspicious circumstances” has me a bit baffled. His official missing information stated "AT RISK" missing person. If it's not someone elderly or disabled, it's often a medical issue (i.e. condition that requires regular medication such as type 1 diabetes) or a mental health issue (which may, but not always include self-harm). I'm glad he was found so he can be laid to rest.To say “no suspicious circumstances”, to me, imo, would mean accident, suicide, or a medical event.
I’m not a local, and there was not much personal background given, so I don’t know which is more likely.
