I don't know if it changes your view at all, i doubt it does, but Sarah worked and Jen stayed home.

eta..and they are the same age

And Jen was the one accused of abuse in both 2008 & the 2010 abuse Sarah pled guilty to, which you seem to agree has some privilege attached to it, I believe the child who says Jen acts tough and beat her and dunked her head and Sarah pleading guilty might be evidence of Jen's control.

Not to say Sarah wasn't sort of BPD to Jen's seeming NPD. And the recent accusations are "they" are abusing Hannah and withholding food. So, I'm conflicted about Sarah and appreciate other's thoughts to chew on.

I think they have to be working as a team if they are withholding food. Otherwise the 2nd parent would sneak food to the hungry child, if they did not want to go along with the punishment. And that didn't seem to be happening.

I was wondering about that too.

Maybe nothing sinister, people cover windows if the sun is bothering them.

I wonder if there had been a financial change in the family's income- specifically, could the money from Texas have been

cut off? Have there been changes to the policy of continuing to support special needs adopted children?

I also wonder if Devonte told the DeKalb neighbors any details on 'why' they were trying to starve them to death?

LE said there was food in the refrigerator, when they searched the home. Was it only for the women? Jen looked like she was eating everyone's share, no shortage of food for her.

I wouldn't make any assumptions at this point. No way to know what kind of trauma took place to the bodies from the accident itself and then there is the factor of the bodies being exposed to the elements for 13 days, with advanced decomposition taking place. I don't even want to imagine what that body looked like. My sense is that the body was ID'd as African American based on the hair, and not the skin, as significant skin discoloration and slippage had probably taken place.

Yea you make great points! It could be Hannah or Sierra based on the hair. Such a shame.

Again probably not new and a duplicate but just saw this too. Sorry if I’m bogging up the thread. I have to catch up.

Yea the news about finding another body has been shared but thanks for bringing it back up because they are still waiting on a positive identification. They will probably use DNA method to confirm the female child found was a 4th of their children.

This tells me the last 2 missing children are likely in the ocean too.
Investigators believe this too now.

"Investigators have said they believe the missing children -- Devonte, 15, Hannah, 16, and Sierra, 12 -- were inside the vehicle at the time of crash."

Its so unfair and selfish for the driver to take out everyone.
In some other murder/suicide cases I have wondered if the person doing the killing sometimes thinks they will all end up in heaven together and maybe that was one of the reasons the driver decided to take out everyone with them.

Not sure if the other adult was a willing participant or not. We do know the driver was making a decision to take everyone out and it is so darn selfish. Its pretty safe to say the young kids did not choose this. Nobody has the right to take out someone else. Its the most selfish act someone could do.

I don't think it was stated as starve to death, more withhold food as punishment. Which is important, because regardless of money status, these two would have enacted that punishment. But having said that, IMO they could have (if it were the case) withheld food to spite the kids coz the gov wasn't paying out as much for them anymore.
Nevertheless, it'd be interesting to know what Devonte said verbatim and what he suspected/felt they were doing. If he suspected they were starving him with the intent to murder him, he may have spoken up and in turn made one of the narc parents mad.

After all, they were the saviours, who's this kid to question their parenting skills? He'd be dead if it weren't for them, etc.

And I also think by keeping them looking small etc no one would question why they don't have their own separate lives and connections to the outside world. When it's a bunch of kids people focus on them and say how cute, how adorable, it's nice that they have each other, but I think many would begin to question why big healthy teenagers are only spending time with their family and taking staged shots rather than selfies and controlling their own narrative.

IMO

I'm feeling you, but they also pose with martini glasses and grown up surroundings. I think she prefers the look for her photography. Model thin, if you will. Healthy teeth. Glowing skin in just the right light. She appears to prefer thinner shots of herself, too. Her children are her photography props. Moo

This article has some new info in it. It mentions that DH and his two siblings were likely, in MN, on a trial visit, when HH reported that Jen hit her with a belt in 2008. Somehow, they were still approved to adopt the second set of siblings.

The article also mentions a 2012 rollover accident in Missoula.

This article pretty much confirms that Sarah was in on the abuse and witholding of food. I was so hoping that there was only one of the parents that was cruel and abusive toward the children.

So sad, these children deserved so much more.

Those kids look rail thin, no meat on their bones in about every picture I've seen. Their jeans just hang on their boney

little bodies. No shape to their legs or butts. I believe the food deprivation was a long term habit for these parents.

Wow. Just wow. So much more information. I also noted that both Alexandra Argyropoulos and the anonymous friend from the festival said that either it was both parents abusing the children, or specifically mentioned Sarah as being abusive.

Also, the DeKalb's called the police!

So much failure here. :maddening:

Is that back window covered up in the second photo? Maybe they do sleep in there on the regular. Or more nefarious...M's window has been covered for some reason?

IMO it looks like paper, maybe a sign for a rally of some sort?

Devonte was quoted by the neighbors as saying he was being starved to death.

"Their daughter is telling us, 'Please, please, please,' begging us not to go back. They're abusing her," said Dana Dekalb. "And then Devonte coming over here and telling us he's being starved to death."

Actually, teachers have to renew their licenses so they have to take classes. Kind of impossible to take classes during the work day. Lots of professions have renewal requirements.

She was granted her licensures so she passed them adequately. I kmow of students who could not be certified. Did her college just pass her along? I think teachers who had her as a student teacher would say if they thought she was no good.

It is interesting that she took the abuse charge which guaranteed that she would never be a teacher, Retail is getting less and less of a guarantee as businesses in the retail world are disappearing.

I posted that Kohl’s was doing all right in the retail world. I wonder if there were fears she would lose her job. Then what? Teaching was no longer an option.

When I was starting out, albeit a long time ago, the state I taught in combined with the district/unit and provided teacher in-service days for those classes that were counted towards our certification requirements. These are days when the kids are out of school but the teachers have training sessions, most of which were for continuing certification requirements. The state I currently live in does a similar thing. That is not including classes being taken to gain a new degree or new area of instruction.

There's an interview that Dana DeKalb quoted Devonte, "They're trying to starve me to death."
