Yes, these are definitely two separate homes, one in front with a driveway and garage and then another one behind it with a separate driveway, garage and entryway with a somewhat shared communal space in between. Its only 3 beds, 2.5 baths and under 200k sq ft so there is no way that is one big house. You can tell by the pics too. Would be interesting to know who lives in the one behind at 3131 Helms...wonder if they were close or not?

L

There appears to be a shared parking space between the two houses. The lor was subdivided to create and build 2 houses.
The back house was assigned 3131 Helms.
I’ve wondered, makes sense, that there is a back door out of her house, right?
In older property photos back when the old Tudor that was then torn down after sale in sold in 2015, it shows gate access to the street behind the property, too.
how do you see the old street views?

When you're on street view (on a computer at least), up at the top left there will be a little clock with a circular arrow symbol that you click on and you can pick a year

I just checked and I don't have it for that part of the street either. It pops up a little further down. That's so weird. I guess they don't have older ones for right there?

I know we have gone over this a lot and I listed to the NG interview but cant remember dates. Did the friend alone or with ex go over there on 10/18 and obtain the phone? I am so confused as to why either or both of them would do that. I am thinking he went back over with her if that is correct bc he says he didnt know she was missing until she didnt pick son up at school. So what would make a friend go over there and take her phone?

Like if they had plans and she didnt show or something I can see calling and if no answer going by but how did she get in? If anything you think she would have maybe driven by and when saw her car was not there figured she would hear from her later. If she had a key or a code to get in too, and saw a phone on the counter you would think one of two things...either 1) she has two phones and you know so you leave it there and assume she will be back or 2) you only thought she had one so you think its strange that she doesnt have it but either wait there a bit thinking she ran out and left it or still leave it there...if you thought it was so strange it was left there and so worried why would you not immediately do something? Like maybe give it a day but I just dont understand why someone would take the phone if they didnt think she was missing and would be back for it, what would the point be?

I know. I was originally referring to the new descriptions, not the ones for the tudor style house. ETA The post you quoted was the description of the old house

The new house has it listed as a garage being used as a living room. All I was trying to say was that it doesn't IMO matter if the garage is being used by HP as a garage or a living room because JS or anyone who came to the house would see the very garage-like door directly at the front and likely assume it was a garage. What HP used the room for doesnt really matter JMO

You know a case is confusing when there’s confusion over what rooms are in a house lol

10/18- alone, no mention of taking the phone at the time.
JW returns with the friend after the report is filed, according to NG interview

It has nothing to do with anything, but that house, or more specifically those two houses, look completely out of place in that neighborhood. JMO

We’ve got a timeline going in the media/timeline thread. You can find it in the very first post on this thread. That may help.

Exactly, which is why I asked if the original poster is certain that Heidi used it as livingroom. If I was driving a relatively new Range Rover and had the opportunity to park it in a garage, I would, but maybe that is just me.

The money you paid for the extras in that garage might make you rethink (you'd buy a house with an actual garage). Upmarket garage remodels are expensive and houses that have them cost more. The flooring is leveled, and then expensive tile or carpeting is put on top of that. Our neighbor did it to turn the garage into a master bedroom for her (they can't call it that, codes prohibit a garage redo from being called a bedroom where I live), she has a jacuzzi tub in there, and travertine floors, big windows on two walls, with really nice window coverings. They have expensive vehicles - but they surely wouldn't ruin her pretty travertine by parking a car in there. And if they go to sell their house, they will get more for it than the neighbors with that same house, but no garage redo...because the redo costs money (often, a water heater has to be relocated, and the laundry, and then dry wall isn't cheap here in SoCal - nothing is cheap; labor for plumbing and tiling isn't cheap - our neighbors spent $20,000 on that floor).

It's been posted here that Heidi would always call or text her son every day when he was with his dad. When she didn't contact her son, he asked her friend who had a key to go check the house. I'm confused about the phones but it's my understanding that ex took the phone(s) to contact her friends and family to see if they knew where she was. MOO

Thanks for the local insight. Makes me glad I live where I do!

You are right. And if this were a different case, it might mean something. I have lived in my neighborhood for 25 years (and in another one not far away for an additional 10). I've seen drug busts and thought afterwards, hmm...well...that sure explains some things about how that house looked. And I've seen people from ritzy places move in and totally remodel one of our 1960's ranch homes into...something like what you see in this case. The houses look out of place, there's a couple we always slow down to look at. One house was done this way to be "flipped" but...due to its incongruity with the houses right next door to it (rather slummy, really)...the people didn't make any money on their "flip." It too has a converted garage and a stucco style fence that you'd expect to see in Santa Fe, except that it's architectural gray and has fancy giant lit numbers with the address over this grand walkway up to the front door, with its glass block sidelights. The fence on the house next door is literally falling down and currently propped up with 2x4's.

So...were this case less filled with other mysterious details, I'd say that with her RR in the driveway and the style of the house, and being a single woman - she might have run into some local bad actors.
