I tend to agree and maybe this is overthinking things but it all sort of seems to be a natural progession of things if you consider what I feel like is a major red flag: JW's son is an investigator at the SEC in Los Angeles and it seems JW doesn't seem to want to mention that even though its the likely motive for her murder.I don't think the ex is involved either. I bet he was so vocal because they share a kid together, and the kid was old enough to understand what was going on and was even sending texts to Heidi asking where she was. I think he was just trying to advocate for his child.
Why? Maybe JW is the one who prompted the investigation in the first place and that ultimately is what got Heidi killed. JW likely told his son about Heidi and her boss's illegal activity. Even if he didn't say anything, it'd only be natural for JS to suspect that JW's older son had something to do with it when/if he found out about JW's oldest son's job. The SEC investigation traced back to Heidi, so she could no longer be trusted even if she did nothing wrong. Being a liability like that someone decided to get rid of her and it seems like they had some way so do so there was no evidence implicating anyone.
I feel like a lot of people detect something sus about JW and are picking up on the fact that he has a guilty conscience bc he knows it was his selfish actions that got her killed. She trusted him at one point and later he betrayed that trust to try to get what he wanted in terms of custody or her out of the picture. Maybe that's why she agreed to pay high alimony payments to him, in hopes he would keep her secrets. It sort of entangled him in some ways into being a beneficiary of her illegal activity and potentially would have motivated him to keep her secrets as his own.
JW probably wanted to let everyone know JS had something to do with it without revealing what he didn't want to talk about JW's told his son various things that prompted the investigation in the first place and it's obvious to JW that the investigation is what got Heidi killed.
That's all sort maybe supported by the fact that JS didn't go to prison like JG did and only got a years delayed fine. Maybe JW's son started out investigating Heidi and later on when things calmed down he ended up protecting her and going after JG/the other people involved which might have meant protecting JS too. The special treatment JS seemed to getmay have actually been the result of JW's son (assuming he had some ability to control the direction of the investigation) steering things away from Heidi and as a result away from her boss too to some extent.
