Yes it sounds like HP got flowers for her (maybe a birthday or even Mother’s Day?). I don’t think we know when that convo took place - it could have been some time ago. The next text in that chain is the wife (I think they are married?) asking if she is ok.

I do not believe they are married, though they have apparently been engaged for a while.

And could look any look she needed to be for whatever role she's playing.
Perhaps she was planning to disappear...she could make herself look different but the dog would look the same. However, if she left the dog at home, nobody would have checked on the dog for a few days (since her son was with his dad) and Seven could have died. She couldn't trust a friend with her dog because that would raise too many questions. So she plans ahead, and decides to leave the dog in the building or just outside the building knowing someone would care for Seven and eventually alert her ex husband. However, she needed a few days lead-time so she might have removed the dog's collar with its ID knowing that the dog was chipped and eventually it would find its way back to her son. Is that too far out?

I don't think this was a planned disappearance. If she had planned it she would have made an excuse to give herself more time. I don't think she would have disappeared so close to her son's birthday and during the middle of his game.
If she left voluntarily, it's plausible she had to go while her son was in his Dad's care so that she could place herself as far away as possible before the date her son was returning to her home. She would know that nobody would call the police until after she failed to show up to pick her son up in school.

I think I read that the police showed up at her house with guns drawn. Is it possible that she had learned that they were coming for her (embezzling?) and decided to get away as far as possible so that she could assess her situation and decide her next steps? If she was a dog lover, she would not have left the dog alone at home for several days until someone realized she was gone, so she had to make a stop downtown and leave her dog first and then disappear.

I'm also thinking that she might have had an apartment at the high rise and spent time there when her son was in his Dad's care. Maybe she was supplementing her income with some other activities and her activities would go unnoticed in a large high rise where people don't really know their neighbors...

I can't get past intentionally abandoning the dog. There's no way you'd know that someone kind would care for your dog. The dog could be without food and water and unprotected from the elements and very afraid for a long time. I would at least take my dog to a shelter where I know it would be inside during a storm, fed, and adopted. MOO

"JW then continued, saying on October 20, '[Heidi] did not appear at school, so we became even more worried. (Son) and I went to the police station directly after I picked him up from school to file a missing person's report.

JW says he suspects the missing 39-year-old Los Angeles accountant's disappearance is linked to her job as he revealed that federal investigators called him to ask questions about her boss

On October 21, JW said he began calling her friends and her boss. He also asked the police to perform a welfare check on Heidi. A police officer went through the house with a body camera and with the landlord but there was no sign of her." BBM

Quote from the new daily mail article. I have a question that I genuinely don't know the answer to.. (this just struck me as odd)

Would the police perform a welfare check on a missing person? Would they not do it when the report was filed? Why would he ask the next day for them to do a welfare check after HP has already been reported missing?
JW had, according to other reports, already asked DN to go to house days earlier, so the house has been checked and verified that Heidi wasn’t there.

According to this version, he filed missing person report late, after school on 10/20 and then went with LE to do a “wellness check” on 10/21.
Wellness checks are standard procedure when a person hadn’t responded or contacted anyone for some time- they can be done very quickly. I’ve done them. They don’t require a warrant as they are conducted just to look inside to see if a person is in need of assistance or the morgue. Or is inexplicably not there.
Did DN open the door with her key?

Right, I've unfortunately had to call them in on different occasions as well. Maybe I'm just getting confused by the wording

I don't see it as necessarily abandoning her dog; in my area, for instance, anyone who finds a dog goes to great lengths to find the owner; perhaps she knew that the building had lots of dog lovers, maybe she had met a few in the past and knew her dog would be safe until it would be checked for a chip. Perhaps in her mind leaving the dog in that specific building was safer than leaving it at home.

From the DM article, it’s hard for me to know if JW accompanied them on the wellness check: “He also asked the police to perform a welfare check on Heidi. A police officer went through the house with a body camera and with the landlord but there was no sign of her.”

I’ve been out of town and am trying to get caught up. I’m going to update the timeline based on the DM article. Are there any other articles within, say, the last day or so that have dates we maybe didn’t know? Anything anyone feels is important to add to the timeline to keep track?

Maybe the change of Custody on the 26th?

Leave an open space for the night of the 16/17 of October. You will have an event to place there. moo

Updates

Here’s the updated timeline. I did not include the second screenshot from the message from “Heidi - Mom” because I honestly don’t have a date for those and am confused as to why that contact is labeled as “Heidi - Mom” and the other message was labeled as “Mom.” The text string from “Mom” seems more likely since there is a message that is cut off talking about his football game.
