Identified! CA - Hermosa Beach, WhtMale, 30-50, found in ocean, Dec'11 - Michael Gilbert

The dead man found floating in the ocean off Hermosa Beach remained unidentified Friday and a detective said investigators have no idea how he got there.

The body of the white man, believed to be 30 to 50 years old, was discovered at 2:30 p.m. about 1 1/2 miles from shore. A boater spotted him and called police.

"He was in the water a little while," sheriff's homicide Lt. John Corina said.

Corina said the body showed no obvious signs of trauma. Deputies have not received any reports of missing persons that could be linked to the man and had no reports of anyone jumping off a pier.

I am wondering how he was dressed. Swim Suit? Street Clothes? Boat Clothing? Was he wearing shoes and/or socks?

A dead body that was found floating in the ocean near Hermosa Beach was identified Sunday as Michael Gilbert, a 56-year-old transient, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
