GUILTY CA - Jason Harper, 30, murdered, Carlsbad, 7 Aug 2012 *wife arrested*

Poor Julie's life has been "consumed" by this three year legal hassle. Yuck! What about her ruining her husband's life and then killing him, not to mention leaving three children parentless and then having another baby to ease her way legally.

But...she still thinks this is all about her and her slight sore throat.

MOO, she is a very selfish person and a cold-blooded murderer. She is finally behind bars and deserves to stay there for 40+ years.

10News exclusive: Julie Harper's first interview from jail http://www.10news.com/news/10news-exclusive-julie-harpers-first-interview-from-jail-10102015

Her three children live with Jason’s family. Harper’s father has her baby daughter.

“Because of my young daughter, I am hopeful that we can pursue appeals..."

I don't like how she was found not guilty on 1rs degree murder but then was retrialed for 2nd degree.

Why wasn't all charges made in 1 trial. She may be guilty. But I am not fond of the do over tactics until something sticks. An appeal is probably imminent.

She tried the arias style defense and it just didn't work.

This is all my own opinion. I feel I can see through this woman to her corrupt core and I don't have an ounce of pity for her. I feel so sorry for Jason's lost life, his parents, and for the children.

She got up on the stand and tried to claim her husband was verbally abusive and raped her 30 times over the years. She read from her personal diary journal. She couldn't actually say she was physically abused or ever sought help. Basically, he yelled at her.

She sure managed to lean on her father and family after she killed her husband, so she had somewhere to go, and definitely could've taken the children and left before this tragedy. IMO, she slandered Jason's name with her lies after she killed him, but she planned and premeditated this knowing that the divorce wouldn't go her way.

Plenty of people go through verbal abuse and divorce without killing their spouse. I certainly don't find it wrong if he raised his voice when apparently she was taking all these unnecessary drugs and wallowing in her self, not caring for her children, not making but spending too much money, etc., JMO, she seems so self-absorbed and spoiled to this day.

Jason Harper lost his life needlessly at her hands. His children will miss him for the rest of their lives. Let's see some Justice now with her spending 40+ years in jail.

And I agree. But was the 2nd degree originally on the first trial as well. Or was she found not guilty on murder 1 so they decided to bring her back and try murder 2?

Maybe murder 2 was split on the first trial. So the prosecution tried again. Idk. But yes. I'm glad she has been found guilty.

They included multiple charges in the first trial. The jury acquitted on 1st degree but was hung in 2nd and manslaughter, iirc. The retrial is due to the hung jury on the lesser charges.

Thank you so much WEC.

Lol. Since I didn't follow the case. I was thinking hold on about the 2nd trial after being acquitted in the first. But it didn't dawn on me to later that murder 2 was probably hung on the first trial and that's why they decided to retry.

Lol. Iam just glad that my original thought wasn't true. Because I blindly thought that murder 2 wasn't on the original case. And once acquitted they decided to try a different charge. Lol

Thanks for the clarification my friend. Beep Beep. Lol

Earlier DexterMorgan had mentioned, "An appeal is probably imminent."

Guess what? Yep, her sentencing date in court has been postponed until sometime in January 2016 to give her attorney time to prepare an appeal. They're going to file an appeal and want more drama before she's even sentenced!

She's looking at forty years behind bars. She hadn't actually spent much time in jail before her conviction. It's gotten too real now behind those bars. Guess she's not going to go quietly.

The video included shows how sorry Julie is for HERSELF. Remember also she brought another child into the world, I think for the main purpose of trying to gain sympathy before facing a second trial.

Julie Harper sentenced to 40 years to life for husband's murder

"Harper apologized to her family and children, but complained that her time in prison would be like a death sentence."

"Judge Blaine Bowman called the defendant "a danger to society," saying "your husband got the death sentence." Harper's 10-year-old daughter, Jaqueline, wrote a letter to the court in which she vowed never to call the defendant "mom" again."

Julie Harper Sentenced to 40 Years to Life for Husband's Murder http://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/lo...Murder-Sentencing-Jason-Harper-365435371.html

"For nearly 40 minutes, Julie spoke in court about her life, her three children and her trial and retrial, but did not show clear remorse for killing her husband. She did, at certain points, apologize to her family, her children and her in-laws for putting them through such trying times."

"She asked the judge not give her a “death in prison” sentence, but rather some chance at release and rehabilitation."

“While it is so tragic that my husband is gone, it doesn’t seem that it would serve any purpose for me to just die in prison,” she said.

:tantrum: Poor, poor Julie figures, with Jason dead and gone now, she shouldn't have to stay in jail that long. Justice doesn't serve a purpose, she thinks. :tears:

but...

"Lina, who has custody of the children along with her husband, Homer Harper, said the children just want this nightmare to be over – and they want to forget about Julie."

"Jason’s mother, holding back tears, begged the judge for the maximum sentence for the woman who killed Jason."

“Julie Harper is a selfish, arrogant and vile person. She threw away her children and made them orphans when she murdered their dad. She ended the life of a very good man. She deserves to bear the consequences of her crime..”

I keep thinking this case is closed and I won't hear any more from or about this woman. Will she ever feel ashamed of herself and just shut up? No, I think not, I guess she will never stop whining.

Now, she may write a memoir...oh boy, that's just what her children don't want.

Julie Harper speaks out from behind bars :gaah:

Though she is behind bars, Harper said she wants to work with domestic violence victims to become an advocate for them.

“I plan to start the Julie Harper Foundation. I’m also planning to write a memoir for my children. It may not be published until after my third trial to try to let them hear the whole story,” she said.

Currently, Harper is working on an appeal, an appeal she believes will be successful.

Please no more! Inside Edition, you're kidding me. Glad the video includes how much her children and Jason's mother hate her. Sorry, but this woman disgusts me, as you might have noticed.

She says she doesn't know who the father of her "in vitro baby" was, maybe her old boyfriend who was "the love of her life". Poor baby, born to delay her trial and get her a lighter sentence.

It's going to be on Dateline tonight. "The House on Badger Lane."

She is a disgusting woman.

Watching "The House on Badger Lane" on Dateline now. Remembering that there was $39,000 hidden in the backpack in Julie's father's garage attic that her father gave to her attorney, and Pfingst was shady about how he handled things legally, IMO. He's disgusting too.

Ex-DA Pfingst accused of hiding evidence
http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/2013/oct/03/paul-pfingst-evidence-murder-case-julie-harper/

"Pfingst began advising Harper before her husband’s body was discovered. The attorney was the one who called Carlsbad police late on Aug. 7, 2012, and said to check on the welfare of the husband, Jason Harper."

The backpack contained cash, $27,000 to $30,000, as well as a gun and passports for his daughter and her children.

The father showed the bag to Pfingst and gave him the cash to put toward his daughter’s legal fees and possible bail. While talking with the attorney in the garage, the father decided to put the backpack in the garage attic. The goal was to keep the contents undisturbed, the father testified.

Wow, her neighbors painted a picture, saying when Julie got bailed out of jail she moved back into the house as though nothing happened, and then she had the "in vitro baby" and pushed it down the street in a stroller as though everything was fine with that.

Well, it's over now, and I pray I never have to hear about her again.

Julie Harper goes off to serve her 40 yrs. in prison. Justice!

Carlsbad Killer's Sentence May Be Reduced Under New Law (with clip)
Julie Harper's case is one of the first in the state where a sentence could be changed by Senate Bill 620

"A Carlsbad woman convicted and sentenced for second-degree murder after shooting and killing her husband may get a lesser sentence after an appeal.
Julie Harper killed her husband, Jason Harper, on Aug. 7, 2012 in their North County home. She was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 40 years to life in prison.

An appeals court ruling recently affirmed Harper's conviction but ruled she was eligible for resentencing under a law that went into effect on Jan. 1.
Harper's case is one of the first in the state where a sentence could be changed by Senate Bill 620, legislation that gives a judge the discretion to strike a gun allegation.

Previously, a murder involving a gun would add an additional mandatory sentence of 25 years to life for the defendant.

If the additional gun allegation is removed by the judge, Harper would see her sentence reduced from the original 40 years to life behind bars to 15 years to life in prison....

In court on Wednesday, Harper was assigned public defender Brian Dooley to handle the resentencing hearing. Her next court appearance will be on Oct. 29."

Attorney lays out argument in bid to reduce sentence of Carlsbad woman who killed husband

September 19, 2018

"An attorney for a Carlsbad woman who fatally shot her husband during an argument while their children watched cartoons downstairs in their home filed a motion Wednesday in hopes that a judge will slash her client’s lengthy prison sentence.

Julie Harper “does not seek to minimize the harm she caused or escape punishment,” wrote attorney Gloria Collins, who on Wednesday was officially appointed to represent Harper.

“She understands and accepts that she must live with the guilt and grief over the pain she has caused so many people she loved so much for the rest of her life,” Collins wrote....

Harper is hoping Superior Court Judge Blaine Bowman will cut that 25 years from her sentence, dropping it to 15 years to life in prison.

Harper’s case is among those affected by a new state law that gives trial judges the power to decide if a person should serve extra prison time for using a gun during a crime. Until the law change, judges had no such discretion. The extra time was mandatory....

Harper’s resentencing hearing is set for Oct. 24."
