Police Seek Man, Dog Missing From Redondo Beach

Police searching for a 61-year-old man who went missing in Redondo Beach last month with one of his sister's dogs are hoping that someone will spot him and alert investigators.

Jeffrey Arild Keidser hasn't been seen since Jan. 23.

About 8:15 that morning, his sister dropped her two dogs off at his home in the 700 block of Avenue C. He had agreed to bring the dogs to his sister's home in Torrance the following day, but never showed up, according to Redondo Beach police Sgt. Mark Valdivia.

Family members went to Keidser's residence and found one of the dogs and Keidser's cellphone on a counter, but he was nowhere to be found, the sergeant said.

He works as a dog walker and pet sitter, and was watching his sister's dogs at the time he went missing. Keidser took one of the dogs with him before he disappeared from his studio on Avenue C in Redondo Beach, Mark said.

"He's been struggling with delusional thoughts, and maybe thinks people are out to get him," Mark said. "We are so worried

It was odd for Keidser to just "walk off," because he'd been talking about jobs coming up, he said. On Tuesday, Keidser's phone received a call from an unknown number so Mark called back in hopes for clues.

"The man was very evasive," Mark said. "But when I searched the phone number online, I saw the address connected to the phone number was close to where Jeff's car was last seen."

Oh, boy. . . . I don't like the sound of that. Cold weather, rugged territory--no place to go missing.

Prayers for his return.

The fact that he purchased snow boots and other winter items at least seems to indicate he took steps towards self-preservation. So perhaps he just chose to walk away from his old life, and was not harmed at someone else’s hand.

But, if that turns out to be the case, why did he have to take his sister’s dog, too? Besides being worried sick about her brother being missing, his sister must be just as heartsick about her dog Frankie being missing. For many of us, our pets mean so much to us, and I get the feeling Frankie was very much a beloved doggie.

Found this update on the Missing in CA page, written by Jeff’s brother. Below is his message as written, except for the family members’ names which I’ve replaced with some asterisks **. Oh, a bunch of his emojis don’t show up, too.

(Also, I don’t know how to link the specific post’s link. Scroll down to find the post on Jeffrey, which is dated Feb 25.)

Missing In California

Would like to update you all on Jeff‘s disappearance. The facts indicate that Jeff drove straight out to Highway 182 and Nevada state line, the car was filmed at 3 am on the 23rd of January, the day we reported him missing. (traffic cam out on Western and Artesia). The 2 neighbors were wrong about seeing Jeff back at the house on the 23 rd at around 10:30. Jeff got on the freeway and stopped in Bishop at 10 AM got a thermal shirt, hiking shoes, gloves and socks, a receipt was found in the car dated the 23rd 10 am. Jeff drove out the 182 crossed the state line into Nevada and ditched the car, keys in car, it started right up, had gas and it was stuck. Jeff was carrying a bag and had Frankie the dog with him. The tracker-hunter followed Jeff's and Frankie's tracks and he walked back to the highway a couple of miles. This is where the trail ends for now as we do not know if Jeff hitchhiked away or had someone pick him up and this all happened over six weeks ago now. At this point it certainly appears that Jeff voluntarily walked away from everything, presumably to protect us, his family, who he was paranoid were in danger because of him. We are lost right now and really have no idea which way to turn as Jeff could be anywhere!!! We are going to continue to have hope that Jeff is found alive and want to ask everybody for their continued prayers and if you have any ideas in regards to Jeff please let us know. Our family, K****, D**** and M*** would also like to thank everybody for all your help and support and encouragement as we continue to struggle through this trial

@slowpoke thanks. The family got amazing and puzzling information from the hunter-tracker. Hopes (mine) are high that he & Frankie found a safe zone and can contact relatives when the perceived threat has dulled or passed. Frustrating & sad!!
