Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey said that the case was transferred to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office after Moore's body was located.

“At that time the Butte County Sheriff's Office took over the case which started with an extensive investigation which led to evidence that Mr. Kimball and Ms. Moore were actually together at the scene where her body was found. A warrant was issued for Mr. Kimball's arrest and he was arrested," Ramsey said.

On Thursday, Kimball was arraigned at the Butte County Superior Court and formally charged with murder. He will return to court next week.

He is being held on a $1.1 million bail.

This may be completely unrelated to Jennifer's case since Chico is 73 miles away, but I found it interesting they said they are bringing in an expert from Chico, CA to verify the finding.

I know this an old and now mostly irrelevant comment but just so you know the Human Identification Lab at the university in Chico is state of the art. They handle cases all over California including federal cases. They don't often get mentioned but if you read about an ID that requires forensics in Northern California it was most likely done in Chico.
