Sheriff Greg Speck said the Major Crimes Task Force searched a field off Charter Oaks Road in northern Pulaski County last week and located several human bones.

The bones were sent to the Medical Examiner's Office.

While the Task Force awaits those results, the team feels confident the bones are the partial remains of Brumley. Speck believes Brumley was murdered the same month she disappeared.

"The information we have is that she was shot, stuck in the head with a hatchet, and then burned," said Pulaski County Sheriff's Det. Lt. Bobby Jones.

SOMERSET, Ky. (AP) — A Kentucky woman has been charged in the death of a woman missing since spring whose remains may have been found last week.

Danelle Nicole Powell, 33, of Somerset, was arrested Thursday on a murder charge, news outlets report.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office announced that investigators believe human bones found off a county road last week match LeeAnna Brumley, who was 25 when she was last seen in May. The remains have been sent to a state medical examiner’s office for identification.

The sheriff’s statement hints at additional arrests, saying “all those responsible for the death of LeeAnna” will be identified and held responsible.

"At some point, LeeAnna Brumley was led away from that residence, led to a rural area in northern Pulaski county," Jones said. "The information that we got [was] that she was shot, and then struck in the head with a hatchet, and then burned."

Police believe that Brumley was killed at one location and her body was shifted to a second location.

"Why would she pull the trigger to it? Why did she think it was okay to take LeeAnna’s life?" Faith Duggins, Brumley's sister, said. "What was so bad that she took LeeAnna’s life?"

Powell remains at the Pulaski County Detention Center.

Danelle Powell is charged with Brumley's murder and pleaded not guilty last week. On Wednesday, new testimony giving her defense said she was forced at gunpoint to kill Brumley.

Brumley and Powell were staying with Gerald Hendricks in late May when police said Brumley was led away from that house. When questioned by police in July, Powell told them that Hendricks threatened to kill her kids in front of her, then her if she did not shoot and kill Brumley.

Right now, she is the only one charged with murder, but police do call both Gerald and his cousin Corky Hendricks suspects.

Police testified that burned human bones believed to be Brumley's were located. A judge found probable cause and now a grand jury will consider indictments against Powell and Hendricks' cousins. The judge set a bond for Powell at $500,000 cash or $1 million in property.

[...]

... Deputies say Powell, who was arrested Thursday, is the main murder suspect in LeeAnna Brumley’s death. Two others – cousins Corky and Gerald Hendricks – are named as suspects and are being held in jail on unrelated charges.

[...]

Of the two cousins accused in the case, Corky Hendricks has been in jail since October after police named him a person of interest in Brumley's case. He was picked up on unrelated indictment warrants. Gerald Hendricks has been in jail since June after police say he kidnapped and raped a woman.

The victim in that crime spoke to WKYT on the condition of anonymity. She says Gerald Hendricks abducted her at gunpoint from a home in Eubank and then raped her. She says she was held for six hours before he let her go.

[...]

Gerald Hendricks was indicted in august - 3 months after LeeAnna Brumley went missing. It's not clear, at this time, what the relationship between the two cousins and Powell is, but, investigators say the grand jury, which next meets in early December, will consider additional charges against Corky and Gerald Hendricks in the case.

According to Danelle Powell, Gerald Hendricks is the one who struck LB with the hatchet.

According to Corky Hendricks (and Danelle Powell), his cousin Gerald ordered the hit.

Kentucky woman says she was ordered at gunpoint to shoot another
A detective says a Kentucky woman charged with murder told investigators she was ordered at gunpoint to kill another woman or her children would be shot in front of her.

[…]

Jones testified that Powell said she shot Brumley because a man put a shotgun to her head and threatened to kill her three children if she didn’t. That man hasn’t been charged in the case, but police say he’s a suspect.

The judge sent the case to the grand jury.

Just in case you didn’t know, from www.radaronline.com:

“The Kentucky woman who has been arrested for the murder of her roommate is a p*rn star, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal.

Danelle N. Powell, 33, has been accused of shooting mother of two LeeAnna Brumley, 25, and striking her with a hatchet. Powell then allegedly set her victim’s body on fire.

According to Pulaski County Sheriff's Deputy Karl Clinard, Brumley's remains were discovered in a field off Charter Oaks Road in northern Pulaski County.

Powell, who goes by her p*rn star name, Kelsey Michaels, has appeared in erotic films and videos since 2005, according to her IMDB profile.

She describes herself as a person who does "allot sic of things on impulse."

"I love living on the edge, its sic more fun that way to just feel that adrenaline rush," she wrote. "I don't like to take the path that everyone else does. I love to stand out.... If you ask my friends they will tell you, you never know what to expect from me."

Brumley was first reported missing on May 22.

In a press conference, PCSO detective Lt. Bobby Jones said investigators believe she was killed on that same date.

Powell appeared at the Pulaski District Court on Friday, November 22 where she pled not guilty for murder.

Brumley's mother, Anita Duggins Helton explained that her daughter had battled addiction and frequently slept on friends' couches. Brumley had been living with Powell at the residence of Gerald Avalon Hendricks, 53, up until her disappearance.

“At some point, LeeAnna Brumley was led away from that residence, led to a rural area in northern Pulaski county. The information that we got was that she was shot, and then struck in the head with a hatchet, and then burned,” Lt. Jones said. “It was brutal circumstances that she went through.”

Powell is currently detained in the Pulaski County Detention Center without bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this Wednesday, November 20.

Brumley leaves behind two children.”

This is such a sad case, two kids now without Mum, a family without a sister and a daughter and young women who has thrown away her life allegedly committing murder. Some people really do make poor life choices with regards to who they associate with :(
