Savangsy & Dupree are giving conflicting information so far.
Savangsy said she woke up Monday morning and found her 7-year-old daughter, Adalynn, unresponsive.
“I woke up around 7 and she was just stiff cold. And I started crying and I just grabbed her. I was just like, I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry,” she said.
Roseville police said the younger child was injured but alive.
Savangsy said she never expected the situation to result in her daughter’s death and said her youngest child remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
“I didn’t expect it to lead to my daughter dying. I promise, I didn’t mean for any of this to happen. My youngest is in the hospital super injured,” she said.
Savangsy described what she said was an abusive relationship with Dupree and blamed him for her daughter’s fatal injuries. She alleged Dupree physically abused both children and her.
“He punched her, he punched them both in the chest and had them stand in the corner. And then I had to do it as well, so technically I did, but I didn’t want to, and if I try to stand up and say no, like this is going too far, he would beat me,” Savangsy said.
Dupree denied those allegations and said he was never abusive to Savangsy or the children.
“I never, I never abused, I never abused those kids,” Dupree said.
Dupree said he was not home the day before the incident. He said when he returned, he went to sleep and was later awakened by Savangsy. He said that was when he noticed injuries on the 7-year-old. He added that he believes the abuse came from Savangsy.
“They didn’t even call her ‘my mom,’ they would call her Jessica and then they would, um, tell me… I want Jessica to leave. I want to stay with you,” Dupree said.
I will never hurt kids,” Dupree said. “I would never hurt a kid.”
Both Savangsy and Dupree said they were living together at the time but were separated. Savangsy said she believes both she and Dupree should be held responsible.
“The best way I can bring justice to my daughters is I do the time and Dupree does the time,” she said.
Dupree again denied harming the children and said he would have contacted police if he had seen signs of abuse.
Both Savangsy and Dupree are expected to be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
