IIRC he was not the only one that had implied or said that, it was mentioned and talked about very early on.

I actually came across a photo of some of the meds they took out of his truck last night, I had never really looked at it before. I would be curious to know if he was on those meds all the time or if they were empty. I am pretty sure one of them said prednisone, which comes with some side effects. JMO

Also, regarding the "meds", can someone here refresh my memory? These were "asthma" meds, right? For Joey? I think the steroid was in inhaler form, not oral. That, especially, in my book, would pretty much rule out the "wooziness" side effect.

And: For anyone here who wishes to say that Prednisone can cause "wooziness" of course it can. If you look at the "prescribing information" for any drug, just about any and every side effect possible is listed. However, "wooziness" isn't what one would normally expect from one taking an inhaled corticosteroid.

ETA: Or weakness.

Nope, you've misconstrued that. Joey was the money man, Chase was the "sometimes" means of delivery for checks.

At least 2 checks given to CM to give to MSM were not received, one incident involved Sequieda Sr. going off on CM, after verifying check was given to CM by JM, and CM spent it on "supplies" instead. 20.00
JM (JM paid) used mail or CM to deliver checks to MSM. 13.50
JM gave MSM fountain orders via email. 15.00
MSM advised JM that partnership would end if Merritt wasn't out of the picture. 18.00
Whether insurance check (though it is NOT mentioned in these questions/responses) or not, there are ways to cash them. You're not thinking like a criminal. Something as simple as 3rd party checks. Forging the payee signature and pay to the order of Chase Merritt, I'm sure CM had places who knew him and would cash it. Other check cashing places that would take 10% of face value.
Sequeida said CM and Sequeida Sr. clashed quite a few times..

You need to keep listening IMO But I get it if you don't want to :) Maybe you could find in Carmen's testimony where she discusses the cheques that Merritt "cashed"? I wonder why the prosecution wasn't able to find any cheques that Joey wrote that MSM didn't have a copy of? Maybe waiting for rebuttal....

I just watched the defense OS again.Couple questions. Was there an unidentified print in the Trooper? And is he inferring that there was a knife used and is nowhere to be found? Also, at the end he mentioned Mr.Maline would be addressing another issue ( assume he was talking about implicating DK). Looked as though he turned to Maline like Maline was gonna make some of the opening statement. That didn't happen, though? McGee's whole demeanor is very engaging. And his OS was very organized.
Maline did testify, the camera guy left lol Cathy has some of it on her twitter. It was about DK, I think he covered some other stuff to, but can't recall at the moment. (I will see if I can find the tweets in a bit for you :) )

Here is a copy of what he had up on the screen as he was talking about Dan and his 'confession' to his friend:

Tracey Riccobene

October 26, 2018 went to investigators and defense to give statement.
Dan confessed to her that he murdered the family
Detailed statement
Held one of the boys at knife point to get the family out of the home

DK raped Summer
Wanted revenge against Joseph McStay for cheating him
DK buried the sledgehammer in graves
Was not in Hawaii - DK lied and provided false alibi
DK came back to the house and pretended he was Joseph

Known DK for years - Best Friend
Like a brother to me
Share music in common
Says DK is a genius manipulative mastermind
Full confession 2 weeks ago but had been hinting at it for a longer period of time
She told him to come forward - he refused.

After Riccobene told DK to come forward
He has been threatening her
She is terrified of him
He has no empathy toward other people
She feels it is her duty to come forward even though DK will harm her
Requests witness protection

The defense tried to insinuate on cross that the check was from the insurance, Sequeida held his ground. Listened to his entire testimony.
I am going to listen to Carmen. The first time around, I had issues giving her credence for some of the things she claimed. She was more of an office manager, not a warehouse manager and she didn't have a solid memory.

It was not inhaled, it was a pill bottle and it looked like 20mg's. I will see if I can find the pic (it was 3 pill bottles and some allergy over the counter meds found in the truck) I'm not even sure there were pills in it... or when he was taking them, I'm just saying from experience, it's possible... and IMO some doctor's suck, they don't warn about side effects or look at med's causing symptoms that present. JMO

I disagree about the wooziness. Headaches and dizziness are a very common side effect. If staying on it long term, they can subside, but for some it never does. A lot depends on dosage as well, but almost every person I have come in contact with (and it's A LOT), the most common side effect that everyone gets, is that. I wouldn't say it energizes someone, although it may depending on the reason it's taken, it actually causes insomnia and will cause a lack of sleep, which causes a lack of concentration, etc. It is a wonderful drug, used for many diseases, however, the long lasting side effects from it suck!!!

My husband has had Crohn's disease for 30 years. Prednisone is the go to drug for anyone with Crohn's/Colitis when they walk into an ER, we have a large online support community, everyone dreads the 'prednisone' fix.

So why do you think that the prosecution didn't show a cheque written or printed from QB's that Metro never received? They had access to both.

I also find it interesting that "some" witnesses can have a bad memory and it's okay because it was 9 years ago... but others, it makes them look sketchy and unreliable. The prosecution gave her enough credence to put her on the stand IMO

The two cheques for Metro that Chase printed on the 5th and hand-delivered after the murders could be the missing money they were chasing Joey for.

$1650 - misc. manufacture
$250 - copper

It seems that these would not have been invoices that MSM raised in the week of the murders for Carmen to be phoning and emailing Joey that Friday.

There’s a lot of over the the counter and prescription medications in the exhibits. I can’t see what the prescriptions are, but if Joey was taking all these medications, there very well could have been side effects from the interaction between them. With all the allergy medications shown, it would be reasonable to believe Prednisone was one of the prescription medications in the group. JMO

I think what she means by energized is that you are feeling wired. Depends on dosage, length of time, etc. Joseph must have had a period when he was tight and regular asthma meds were not cutting it. I have taken prednisone 5 day packs with no real side effects. But longer and higher dosages can make you feel like you are jumping out of your skin.
Can't resist. Have you ever listened to the viagra commercials about the side effects?

But the implication is that cheques that were written to MSM from Joey, to be hand delivered by Chase , but were cashed by Chase. Remember, Chase didn't pay MSM for anything according to Sequieda, it was all Joey. (I'm not even sure this is true, but that is what Sequieda and Carmen both said)

So if cheque's were missing, would you agree that that there would be record of it somewhere? Joey's QB or a copy of a cheque he wrote? We know from Carmen's testimony that they had all the cheques paid from Joey to MSM. I also believe the judge asked him if he could remember when that happened, he didn't, when asked for a time frame, before or after the McStay's disappeared, he said maybe a month or so before. (Judge's question to him is on Day 8 Part 4 24:50)

I guess it's possible that he could have cashed a cheque, but I would also think it's more than possible that the prosecution could have actually "shown" that with the materials they have available to them, Joey's QB's, Joey's carbon copies of his handwritten cheques, and all of MSM's cheques that they received from Joey. Sounds pretty easy to me. JMO

Definitely depends on dosage and length of time, the last time hubby had it a few months ago, he quit and went back to his other meds because of side effects. It was only 20mg's. Like I said, I don't even know if he was taking it at the time or times he was not well, or how long he took it, but as soon as I saw what I believe to say prednisone, it was my first thought! A lot of people don't realize that you also can't just stop prednisone if you have been on it for a length of time, it can cause some major issues (learned the hard way years ago lol).

lol @ viagra commercial Have you ever listened to any commercial about drugs? LOL It's a wonder they get anyone interested in them with those commercials!

True. You can't go cold turkey with prednisone. You need to be weaned off it. I only mentioned viagra in respect to the defendant. He mentioned that in one of his interviews as a reason to go to Mexico. No one asked. He just put it out there.

Actually he was asked about Mexico ;) He says it was about a year ago (his bank statements showed something in Mexico too IIRC in January 2009)
