How do you know this?

Someone online mentioned it to me, and he seems connected to the defense in some way. He's been right about a lot of what he's predicted so far.

Or he is a good guesser.

Cathy Russon mentioned this week's ago, that if he is called it will be by the defense.

So those checking in with the defense seem to be in the know. Also, the defense may call Patrick McStay and even Summer's sister.

It's a shame the visual coverage isn't really there in full, because it appears that the defense's rebuttal is going to be the truly riveting portion of this trial.

Right, that was actually heard in the court room last week. So no need to be 'in the know' ;) I am not sure why they would call her sister? Maybe because she had been in contact with Summer regularly?

Adverse witnesses are not what he needs at this point. Perhaps Missus Jarvis can help the cause

I may be the only person that feels this way but in other cases we've seen the defense make blustery opening statements about all their witnesses & all their experts, etc. and then when it comes down to their portion of the trial - they really have nothing. I think Merritt's team will likely present a barebones defense at this stage, trying to allude that the Prosecution didn't prove it's case. There's just really no way for them to explain away all the Quickbooks & forged checks, or erase the fact of Merritt's DNA being in the trooper, or the fact that his cell phone pinged at the gravesite. It's a losing battle for them IMHO.

I don't know, except that I feel that the immediate family's take was not only overlooked by San Diego, but by SBC as well. Regardless of whether they were physically present in the home or even in California, these are the folks who knew the McStay's habits, there concerns, etc. at the time of their disappearance.

If Chase is innocent, that opens the door to other theories, including the possibility that Summer, not Joey, was the primary target.

They have hired experts. Top notch. I think you will be surprised.

That would all depend on how close of a family they all were, IMO.

I have actually been right about a lot in regard to this case, but I've also been very surprised. I never expected Chase to wrestle up a defense this good. I really wonder if his daughter navigated some of this. I recall her being interviewed early on,and she's sharp.

Now, if that happens I may have to break out the popcorn after all that Niner offered everyone. Lol!

Here's some - just in case!

Just a bit of advanced warning that I'm probably not 100% reliable for the first 2-3 hours of trial/tweet copying today, I'll be checking in periodically but not consistently.

I would do it - but I'm going to watch live tennis match with Rafa Nadal...

Well, Summer and Joey were living with the mom just before they moved into their new home. Summer was on the phone with her sister the morning of the 4th. And Joey spoke to his dad that same morning. Seems like they'd have some insight, just given those facts.

LOL, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree about the defense being "this good." I'm certainly not impressed.

How much are they spending on his defense if you know that is?

Their rebuttal begins today. You haven't heard their case, only their cross.

Oh I agree, and things morphed over time, and this is where the confirmation bias comes in. Just as an example: Mike recalls a call with Joey about a banking issue and he was going to the bank, so it MUST have been the cheque Chase cashed, yet the last time he talked to him was Feb 1st, the day before the first cashed cheque. Thank goodness for early police reports, they will be and probably are the most reliable IMO
