Thanks you two! Much appreciated!
IIRC DuGal said he only saw an online booking form or something like that. No boarding pass, not anything else.
The Defense in their opening statement said that DK said he stayed with his landlord during that time, apparently the landlord said it didn't happen.
Welcome to Websleuths, Edmo!I guess there are 2 forum threads about this case? Sorry, not so good with the forum settings. Anyways, here is the address, date and time of next court day:
Set to resume 9:30 a.m. Tuesday Jan. 22. Dept. S1, San Bernardino Justice Center, 247 W 3rd St, San Bernardino.
Agree, esp. when the passenger was in the habit of taking off their shoes/flip flops/sandals when going on drives, as seen in their video on the way to the new house (about the 5 min. mark bare toes are visible propped on the dashboard):
I need to check out the time of the first of the two videos, but here's what I have from the prosecutor's opening speech as regards the later video:Here is question for you sleuths: Does the time stamp on the neighbor's video correspond with the time CM's phone was "off?" The one where his truck is supposedly captured on the "Mitchelly's" video on the 4th of Feb?
Yes Dugal said a he saw a reservation. Iirc according to media after the remains were found, it was San Bernardino who confirmed he was in Hawaii. I'm sure this will be cleared up if defense asks those detectives who will soon take the stand.IIRC DuGal said he only saw an online booking form or something like that. DuGal said he saw a "receipt" of the actual airline ticket, IIRC?

As far as a boarding pass, you typically get those before boarding, right? And who keeps those after they've been used? This all just sounds more of the defense attempting to bolster there was deceitfulness.
I don't disagree about keeping the boarding pass, however, DuGal was investigating as of the 15th, when was it that DK was supposed to have been back? I know it was that week. It's not like it was years, it was literally days or within a few weeks that he should have been asked for some sort of verification IMO What I find the most interesting is that there was no talk about him being in Hawaii until after the bodies were found. We know that Mike and Patrick had contact with Dan after they disappeared, were they not aware of him being in Hawaii? Why would they even suspect him if they knew he was in Hawaii?
I need to check out the time of the first of the two videos, but here's what I have from the prosecutor's opening speech as regards the later video:
"this video was from 7.47 on the night of February 4th.
From 5.48 pm on February 4th to 9.32 pm his cell phone is not connecting any towers. And there are during that time period 1-2-3-4-5 calls between 6.09 and 9.04 from Catherine Jarvis, his wife at the time, to the defendant and Voicemail messages are left.
At 9.32 pm he calls Catherine Jarvis and his cell phone connects with a cell tower in Mira Loma which is south of Rancho Cucamonga north of Corona. After that 9.32 pm contact his phone is off the grid until 7.30 the next morning, February 5th."

Actually there was a bit of discussion about him being in Hawaii. I don't where it first surfaced, it might have been on the E Investigates show, but it's been around since at least then. Dugal had a limited scope on who and what he could verify. Mcgee (was it him?) attempted to make Dugal and SD look bad because they didn't follow up and verify. He had no reason to, nothing merited for LE to verify anyone's whereabouts on Feb 4 or thereafter. He only had to go on what people offered up.I don't disagree about keeping the boarding pass, however, DuGal was investigating as of the 15th, when was it that DK was supposed to have been back? Snip
In a subsequent telephone interview, Kavanaugh looked up his online itinerary from the surfing vacation, and claimed he was in Oahu from Jan. 4, 2010 to Feb. 17, 2010, when he returned to San Diego.
McStay murder mystery: Who is Dan Kavanaugh?
There might be mention of it in Baker's book but I'm almost positive it's in early media accounts when Dan calls LE for a wellfare check on the family. I'll search when I have time.I have searched some of the old threads, the first mention of him being in Hawaii looks to be around Dec 2013. I think the Lisa Ling show was in 2011 according to imdb. I went looking last week or the week before, because I couldn't recall him being in Hawaii at all.
It is a long time, which may mean why he was in need of money when he tried to contact Joseph. That is a 6 week surfing vacation. How could he afford to go away to Hawaii for that long? That is quite a luxury to be able to do that.

On the landlord not seeing him, Dan could have either found a more feasible place to stay or he shacked up with surfing buddies.
Shout out to you!
Thank you so much for helping us on so many threads for keeping us up-to-date and bumping the threads with the court dates. I cannot imagine how much time that takes from you, and that takes away from you researching the threads while you are trying to keep everyone else up to date.
I have just one case that I am trying to keep everyone updated and plan on attending the trial for all of us, and you do it on so many... I don't know how you do it.
You are a fabulous person for doing such.
