I thought CM was just a subcontractor?

I've never known a subcontractor being given that kind of access.

He was also very close with Joey so why wouldn’t Joey do those things if he trusted him?

This is the same person who helped out Chase girlfriends when he was in jail and supported them? - he was just to damn kind for his own good imo

They just mentioned his hand being injured but it’s streaming so bad couldn’t understand it fully.

Then he says everybody who knew Joey loved him but the same couldn’t be said about Summer. Then my feed has died again

Yes, I have to keep rebooting. And it works for a minute then buffers endlessly. I have errands to do so I guess that is a sign that I should just go and do them.
The site providing the stream, ‘lawandcrime.com' offers paid subscriptions, does anybody have one? If so, do you also have streaming dropouts? I’m thinking that if you’re a paying customer, you are then allocated more bandwidth.

Exhibit one billion and one of why never to do an interview with the police when you did some murders

#McStay - Female investigator on the phone says to Merritt, "You've talked about Joe in the past tense a few times, any reason you would do that?" Merritt: "No, I never really thought of him as possibility being dead, no I can't say that because I have."

The feed is just the worst today. They are allegedly “working on it”. Ha.

I really would have liked to hear the entire part about how Joey was so generous with everything and Summer wanted what was hers to stay hers. Sigh. I think that’s an important nugget of what CM’s motivation might have been.

Imo.

That could backfire if the defense calls DK and he takes the 5th, think of the message that would send to the jury.

Just think how interesting it would be if he didnt take the fifth?

If the DT assumes he will take the fifth they would make sure they call him in a nano second.

The problem with this risky move is they have no idea what he will do or say if they call him to testify.

It could easily backfire on the defense big time.

Then they have given the state a chance to cross examine him and he may know things that will hurt their client even more that would have remained unknown to the jury if they hadn't called him.

It's a very risky move for the defense since DK has no legal obligation to talk to anyone with the defense.

It would be like pulling the trigger of a firearm hoping it isnt loaded yet finding out too late its cocked and fully loaded.

The state could easily tell the jury during closing they did not call him since he is not involved in murdering the victims.
But telling the jury the defense had every legal right to call him if they had chosen to do so.

Imo

CM also stated he was having financial problems the last 6-7 months and blamed it on the "business slowdown." What he really meant to say he has a gambling problem and needed to steal from JM.

As a big picture gal, I find the agonizing slow "death by 1000 cuts" (thanks to @mrjitty for that perfect turn of phrase) method of introducing reasonable doubt by the defense intolerable, and this is one of the worst! In general, I don't have the patience for following trial threads - in Law & Order parlance, I'm interested in the Law part, not the Order!

The pieces of this puzzle were compelling enough for me to feel that CM was beyond a reasonable doubt guilty so long ago, that I've been screaming "GET ON WITH IT!" for too long. The nitpicking, the vague insinuations towards the family, Summer, the detectives, DK, etc. and etc. by the defense don't interest me. I realize it's their job, it's our judicial system, it's the process, but boy is it tedious and annoying to me! I know, I know, I don't have to watch or read. I'll show myself out. LOL.

Before I do though, just want to shout out to everyone who is interested and dedicated to justice for the McStays. It's been a long long road. Stay the course. Wake me when it's all over (sometime in 2020, I'm guessing!).

It’s difficult to get a read on Merritt, you would think if he was able to orchestrate this whole charade including the misdirection pointing to Mexico, he wouldn’t say something like that. His behavior and statements made durning the interview could be a continuation of his misdirection ploy, with CM thinking that the investigator certainly wouldn’t expect the guilty party to say something so obviously incriminating. After all CM was well versed in poker strategy.

Remember Mike supposedly told the detectives that he drove by the house on the 6th but then on cross they cleared that up on redirect because he later that night told another detective it was Chase that drove by the house on that day. I think Mike may have some kind of minor disability that makes him mix up his words or get confused. At times he is socially awkward. many people mistake that for deception or dishonesty. It seems the detectives were even somewhat suspicious of him.

Agreed. I also believe that he will disassemble and avoid a full truth at times, but not as a dangerous or compulsive liar. Perhaps a bit ADHD, too. For instance he may have told the first detective that he drove by the house initially, because it would have seemed more meaningful than to say just a contractor drove by. He may have also felt a bit guilty as time went by that he didn't act immediately on his Dad's request. No harm, no foul until we get to the homicide investigation where every word counts.

The L&C site has 5 different livestreams going rn. The only 2 that work flawlessly are the Florida Courts. The other 3 don't work at all. Just an FYI for anyone who has come in late.

It appears to be back up !

#McStay - Merritt says he had a running tab with Joseph. He gives the example, "He owed me $10K, I owed him $15K" Merritt said Summer never liked that deal with him.

#McStay - Merritt says he usually pays cash for everything and doesn't really owe a lot of money.
