I don't think so, it was towed around 11 pm on the night of the 8th, and I believe the implication is he drove it there that morning when his phone was off.

IIRC, the security guy who worked the parking lot stated the vehicle was noticed around 5:30 pm. He attempted to locate the driver and at around 7:30 pm, he still waited for 2 more hours until calling the tow company. Something like that. It IS on the record though. Just going off what i remember.

LE seems convinced all of the McStays were killed with the same sledge hammer which would seem to point to them all being killed at the same time and the same location (unless anyone wants to argue for CM carrying around a bloody sledge hammer from one place to another).

I wonder if the coroner could determine if all the wounds were inflicted by the same object. I feel doubtful but that testimony will bear watching (even if difficult).

The Coroner *should* give more elaborate answers/testimony/evidence than the Anthropologist, IMO.

From the Press Conference the day CM was arrested, by SBSO. Inv Fisher WILL have to deliver in the trial what he stated then, IMO. So far, there is no reason to doubt him, IMO.

The Pre-lim stuff is *only* to see if the State has "enough" evidence to proceed to trial, not ALL of the Discovery is disclosed at that time. Just an FYI

I remember seeing this case on the local news early, when the family was simply reported missing. Their car had been recently found at the border that time and one "theory" presented by the news was the MS family was somehow connected to a Mexican Drug Cartel. Is that information related to the supposed "Border Crossing Video?," or is there information pointing to a person(s) that ACTUALLY told SDSO Inv's this information? Or, was this a "theory" by SDSO from the get-go?

I'm wondering WHO came up with that theory? Thanks.

I wondered if someone on the forum could put a name to the theory is basically what I was asking. There seems to be VERY knowledgeable people in here about the in and outs of the case. I DO remember the Drug Cartel mention from the news, whether it was factual or not, I do remember them talking about. Just wondering WHO would make them state that?

and yep I know what a preliminary hearing is ;-) not my first trial hehe We have so limited verifiable information in this case so far. That's why I like to know where the information is coming from, there is a ton of misinformation out there. JMO

I know we thought that the house had been searched more, but I have looked through the search warrants, I only see where they took swabs and a chunk of tan carpet. I don't see another search warrant for the residence. Maybe we don't have them all.

Just watched the press conference again... at 11:40 of the video, Sgt. Fisher says they were able to verify that there was a meeting at a restaurant. (thought I would include this since it's been discussed today and in recent days)

at 14:00 he is asked about the residence and it being a crime scene, says that they did go back there, that they did go back and conduct search warrants there. (so he says it as plural ... but in the our search warrant pdf, I only see one?)

We are barely starting the trial from where SBSO has found the bodies. Until Nov 11th, 2013 it was a missing persons case, which the FBI had taken over previously. IMO, the State is starting here, where the bodies were discovered. We have yet to hear the who/what/where/when/why aspect of the case. Being a DP case, the Pros has yet to lay-out EVERYTHING they know/prove in this case, including the step-by-step process. The State has yet to prove it's case, but I believe they will. ***IF*** anything Inv Fisher stated can be proven to be true.

I'm curious to see "how" they verified that? One point as well: If they CAN verify that meeting w/o video or receipts, it does show how meticulous they are going to investigating this case.

My guess would be a receipt or bank statement. He did say in the video that they couldn't even find anyone that was working that day.

Found it. The wording of that is so odd.

Some time back, many months ago, I did extensive research on this address. Per the warrant the is a T-Mobil at that location. There are also a few other businesses. One of those, a dental office, is also in the warrants. This office was determined to been a client of EIP. Accordingly LE ruled out that the address search on the computer had anything to do with this client, but probably more to do with the search. I think in the warrant it states they contacted the client. They concluded it was probably about T-Mobil.

I wasn't buying that contention. If Chase (or whoever) wanted to visit one, there were dozens closer. It wouldn't make sense to go to that one almost 2 hours away. The number to the dental office was called from Joseph's phone 2 weeks before the disappearance. Joseph next calls Chase, twice.

Chase could have looked up the address for T-Mobil from anywhere. There is a reason he did so from the house. I feel he may have seen it on some letterhead or spreadsheet in the home.

Has any evidence been presented that the "blanket material" wrapped around JM Sr. was the futon cover? I am afraid that the LE even messed up this evidence. Does anyone out there have the proof?

I agree this is distinctly possible if we assume CFA never happened. (only source for the location is CM?). A simpler version is he kills him in the storage locker. Then the reason Joey is packaged is the simple need to sling him out of there and onto a truck later on.

However in that scenario, he needs to offload his phone to his girlfriend, and she will need to answer the 5:47 call and switch the phone off. Then somehow, Chase needs to get his phone back in order to call her again around 9.30pm. I think it is stretching credibility that the 9.30 call is faked

One issue with this theory though, is why kill the rest of the family now?

I am now thinking that everything CM said was unreliable and not trustworthy. They all sound loaded to me. What kind of drugs were they taking?

So far, testimony has ONLY revealed stains/material found from the gravesite, other than the bones/bodies and McGyver testifying that one of the futon's mattress covering was missing. They haven't been "forensically" identified, yet. IMO, we still need to hear from the "experts" who have tested/identified them.

I went and read that whole search warrant, I actually somewhat recall this. Awfully coincidental IMO So you think that the address was searched on the computer too? geesh, if they held this trial for more than 4.5 hours a day, 4 days a week, maybe we would know this info already

The Defense believes the MS family was killed, early in the morning of Feb 5th, according to his OS. 27:00 of the video of OS, FYI

Defense OS at 45:18 - 45:31 that JM was killed somewhere ELSE and brought to gravesite, due to being wrapped in something. 45:32 - 45:37 Defense states Summer and kids were killed AT the gravesite and also acknowledges that Summer was raped AT the gravesite, based on Summer's clothes half-in/half-out of the gravesite. "They were killed at separate time, brought in separate vehicles." Based on 2 separate tire tracks/widths, according to the Defense. Now he goes on to blame the Pros for a shoddy Inv.

One tiny tidbit about 50:00 - 50:14 Talking about CM "not knowing" the area of the gravesite or being familiar with Victorville. THIS will be a HUGE mistake for the Defense because CM GREW up and worked within MILES of their gravesites. That is fact.

We may never know how Chase Merritt moved the cars.
I think that we will never know, who he killed first and where.
None of that matters to me!!!
Obviously he is a seasoned criminal who knows how to do things that we cannot imagine.
I really don't care How he did this.
I hope that the jury does not get hung up on the how either.
What is important, is that there are two parents and two little boys murdered in the most horrific way.
So far. There is only one person who would want this family dead.
That person is Chase Merritt.
