Morning Missy!

All of that reminds of the FBI profilers that say murderers tend to disregard the bodies of their victims in areas they are familiar with.

They put them in what the profilers call 'their comfort zones.'

Imo

Quoting my own post. It's obvious I needed more coffee when I wrote that post.

I meant when they DISCARD the bodies instead of disregard. Sorry for the oops mistake.

How coincidental is it that Ms Mitchley's surveillance cameras stopped recording between the 5th and the 14th?! Police went to her on the 15th asking about her cameras.

With his history of house-breaking I'm very tempted to think it was his doing. And if it was his doing and he didn't erase the 4th, I'm tempted to think that he wanted the footage left on there of him leaving before the QuickBooks was accessed on 4th, and that he made a loud noise when he was leaving purposely. Surely it must have crossed his mind in the days following the murders that he might be on surveillance cameras and to make it one of his priorities when he went back there to feed the dogs to check for cameras.

Ah now that is a very interesting thought.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if this did happen. Due to so much time delay we will probably never learn about what all he did in the aftermath and cover up stage.

I got the impression that it wasn't the only time that it stopped working, but yes, another coincidence!!! I wonder why the pro's didn't question her more about that, knowing his history? Unless they knew it was just the system?

They only copied a small portion of what she had on the system, otherwise, maybe we would have a better idea. I understand why she didn't want them to take everything (privacy issues having 2 cams in the house), but I wonder if they even looked or just took her word for it that those were the only 2 "relevant" videos.

This would be me if I was a homicidal maniac. I would likely end up confessing because I was so pissed off they had it all wrong. "No, I'm not stupid enough to do THAT, I did THIS."

RSBM I had to come back to this post...

THIS would be me! LOL :D:D:D:D You all would have a field day watching my facial expressions, shaking my head yes or no... WSers would have it figured out by OS's ... and I doubt I would be able to sit there without saying 'omg you guys are so stupid, that's not how I did it' :D

Exactly.

Especially if conditions are wet, driving deep into the desert off road with bodies onboard is highly risky. Even in a 4x4

The grave location is actually completely perfect because it is close to a access road.

The mistake was not location but not burying the bodies deep enough - this is a mistake numerous clowns have made before Chase

it makes much more sense to dump them somewhere where you have a fast exit

I'm kind of leaning towards the "3 Strike Law" as part of the motive:
California Proposition 184, Three Strikes Sentencing Initiative (1994) - Ballotpedia

  • Increases sentences for defendants convicted of any felony who have prior convictions for violent or serious felonies such as rape, robbery or burglary.
  • Convicted felons with one such prior conviction would receive twice the normal sentence for the new offense. Convicted felons with two or more such prior convictions would receive a life sentence with a minimum term three times the normal sentence or 25 years, whichever is greater.
  • Includes as prior convictions certain felonies committed by juveniles 16 years of age, or older.
  • Reduces sentence reduction credit which may be earned by these convicted felons.
Three-strikes law - Wikipedia

Some states include additional, lesser offenses that one would not normally see as violent.[29] For example, the list of crimes that count as serious or violent in the state of California is much longer than that of other states, and consists of many lesser offenses that include: firearm violations, burglary, simple robbery, arson, and providing hard drugs to a minor, and drug possession.[30]

It wasn't modified until 2012 with Prop 36:

https://ballotpedia.org/California_Proposition_36,_Changes_in_the_"Three_Strikes"_Law_(2012)

  • Revises three strikes law to impose life sentence only when new felony conviction is serious or violent.
  • Authorizes re-sentencing for offenders currently serving life sentences if third strike conviction was not serious or violent and judge determines sentence does not pose unreasonable risk to public safety.
  • Continues to impose life sentence penalty if third strike conviction was for certain nonserious, nonviolent sex or drug offenses or involved firearm possession.
  • Maintains life sentence penalty for felons with nonserious, non-violent third strike if prior convictions were for rape, murder, or child molestation.

Bernina, I couldn't agree with you more!

I said early on CM knew he was in deep doo this time. There wouldn't be any early release this time. This time it would be forever!

No one knows the laws any better than those who have spent part of their adult lives in the criminal justice system.

Does it seem odd to anyone that CM tries to make it appear like he is an old man? Didn't he even do that in the first LE audio interview? Wasn't he just in his 50s at the time?

If so, I don't know of anyone that describes themselves as an old man or woman at that age.

It was like he was already trying to present to the police he was too old to do anything that would take lifting. I know several welders who are much older than CM and they dont go around labeling themselves as old broken down men because they aren't.

Anyway, I may be the only that thought that is odd. Lol

He obviously wasn’t that concerned or he wouldn’t of stolen money in the first place though. He had stolen before time and time again but this time it was more personal. I still think in his twisted head Joey betrayed him in some way.

Perhaps he wanted to be a formal partner, share in the profits.

He's a jealous person, I think I see that being the reason he takes, to satisfy his bitterness that others have more.

I wonder if it had anything to do with Joey paying off Dan, spurring Chase into thinking about the whole partnership thing and pure jealousy that Joey owned the business. I imagine he wanted Joey to write off his debt just for friendship's sake. I think that is behind his comment I wasn't his best friend but he was mine or wtte.

Every criminal always thinks they aren't going to ever get caught.

He was no exception imo just like he thought he was going to get away with murdering all 4.

Imo he thought Joey was an easy target and a pushover He thought even if Joey found out he was stealing he felt he wouldnt ever really do anything.

Then when it was way too late he found out he was wrong and Joey and/or Summer were going to turn him in.

Oh yes, he's played the sick, old man card throughout, he mentioned his age/heart condition in the first interview, wanted the trial to proceed quickly because he was afraid he'd die before being exonerated, so badly in fact that he tried going pro se just to get things moving. He's highly crafty and (maybe pun intended) but imo there's no card he won't play or bluff he won't try. In King's words, he's very tricksey.
