I'm not convinced about the paint, unless they can prove she only painted in that bra on the day she was murdered or there is some other evidence, because I wear the same clothes for days at a time, painting clothes...for painting. I dont know, it would be better if it were also on her skin or something...maybe I just dont get it??? mOO

I don't get paint on my bra.

So you just think it's a coincidence on the day she was murdered her bra had the same paint that was found on the sledgehammer found in the grave?

Defense showing the futon cover... now showing the blanket found in the grave. Asking if he would agree that it's not the same... officer saying he doesn't know. Saying he can't tell.
If he can’t tell, then who was it that came to the conclusion that it was the futon cover?

Talking about searching the house... he took 3 crime scene tech's with him. Their intent was to look for evidence of blood, he says they can detect blood even if it was painted.

The homeowner pointed out a stain on the stair, and stains on the walls upstairs. And a stain on the second floor. All tested. Said that there was a spot that was concerning when they changed the flooring (I think)

Where they looked:
A stain by the master bathroom... staircase... door frame by the bathroom, an area that came back as positive for blood... kitchen by the wall by the office, another positive, took sample... swab of the wall by the stairs ...

The dang foil in the paint tray again ... lol

Implying the officer was not truthful in his search warrant.

How long is this one going to take? My eyes glaze over when he cross examines witnesses. So much smoke and mirrors. Lol

Showing a photo of the bathroom... paint on the wall at the counter... paper on the sink/counter.. a towel rack on the counter. I'm guessing to show why there would be no towels in there?

ETA: yep, McGee pointing out that it would not be odd to not have towels in there.

Showing the photo of the dryer with stuff on top, showing something that was consistent with the futon cover on top.

delete sorry

Could someone explain to me what are shop towels? It's not an item I'm familiar with.

Inside of the washing machine!!!!! LOL I was wondering if anyone looked there!

More beige like material in the washer... possibly the pillow cover?

Susan said it was possible the futon cover was in laundry.

From the photo I saw, they are just white terrycloth towels, smaller, used as rags basically.

#Mcstay - Steer is now under cross examination. In the probable cause statement Steer said of the futon cover and the blanket Joseph was wrapped in, "Both items have the same stitched seam and weave pattern within the cloth." However, under cross he's shown the close-ups of both

#McStay - It doesn't appear from these photos that the futon cover on the left and the material Joseph McStay was wrapped in on the right have the same pattern.

If the new owners were not aware of the home’s history before buying it this must have really freaked them out.

Do you know why they call them shop towels?

used in a "shop", a garage, to wipe hands, etc. oil, or whatever. My guess is that Summer had them to clean up with all the painting. They aren't meant to keep and wash necessarily, they are cheaper and can be thrown out.

It usually refers to a towels an auto mechanic would use.

Showing pictures from inside the home and from the graves again... shop towels... toilet seat cover... the robe.

  • #738
The detective said in his affidavit that there appeared to be a missing robe in the home. McGee asking, did he know if there were normally 2 robes in the house? he says "no"

Is there any evidence from in that house that shows you that the crime happened in that house... he says No, but he believes it did.

*We now know, they have zero evidence from the house, no blood, etc.

ETA: It's JMO that they have no evidence from the house, that's my interpretation of what he said. Also, I think the fact that the State didn't ask about these things, is telling. Again IMO
