I wonder when the footage of the seemingly family of 4 at the Mexican border came out, whether there was a reaction by CM and what it was. Who said it's possible and who said it's impossible the missing McStay family? IIRC there were even reported sightings of a family of 4, one baby with strawberry mark on his forehead, that some said could well be the missing family. I can't recall but would like to know the reactions from various people of interests.

Surely Joey would of just of deducted from his wage a certain amount each month?

Also I can’t but help come back to the fact Chase would of earned a lot more from Joey in the coming months/years as the business expanded.

True. Which Is why I wonder if Joey began threatening to let him go, if he didn't start repaying him. Or if Joey had a serious talk with him at lunch, about the checks written earlier maybe?

IIRC, Chase reacted by saying Joey would never take his kids to Tijuana.

As I recall, none of the family thought it was them. Also recall that Chase said it couldn't be them

Thanks. Then why would he park the SUV at the Mexican border? What could be the purpose for that? Do we all agree that whoever parked the SUV there had something to do with the murder and wanted to give the false impression that the family had gone to Mexico? We'd expect them to take advantage of the surveillance footage to make that point, no? If CM did it, it would appear odd he said Joey would never take his kids to Tijuana.

I don't find it odd. If he said he thought that was them and that they would go to Mexico I think he would be thinking if police don't think it's them he is trying to influence them and had something to do with it.

If he had left the keys in the Trooper, with the doors unlocked, maybe he was hoping it would get stolen and driven/sold into Mexico? Were the keys left in the ignition?

The border is the opposite direction of where the bodies were found. Maybe he was trying to throw investigators off the trail?

What about the internet search about passport for children to Mexico?

I wonder if he parked it there to make it look like the suspects fled to Mexico? Not necessarily the family.

bbm What makes you think that's what it was?

I heard that Dan withdrew $2000 from the Paypal account. If it's the same payment, if he had authority to transfer money from Joey's bank account he could have just transferred it to his bank account, cutting out the need to transfer to Paypal and out of Paypal.

Unless Joey had set it up in advance to go through on that date.

For me, Its sounding more and more like CM was setting up DK. He knew of the the arguments between JM and his biz partner. CM could have done all of it due to his strength and dislike for SM. CM could be a psychopath. That is why this case is so addicting to me. It's so important to recognize your psychopathic friends and business partners. I just hope that the prosecution can prove all of this. So far I have not heard much more than hearsay & circumstantial evidence. I want justice for this family. The killer made an error and maybe it will be in the forensics of behavioral practices. We know he had a gambling problem and we also know he either allowed his cell phones to regularly go uncharged or did he always keep his cell phone charged. The battery has been a problem with cell phones ten years ago. That should all have been explored in this case. I am hoping they will have an "expert" witness can testify on this subject. Listening to the law and crime network "live" recordings is time consuming and tedious. So I thank all of you for keeping each other posted.

I need more clarity on that search. There is some confusion.

This is evidence that clears CM because of his active part in helping the LE in the search for his "friend." He had a vested interest in their survival.

That's what make me wonder if he is the killer. I don't want to see an innocent person go to prison.

Here's an overhead of the area. I believe they placed the phone southeast of the tower, which is where the graves were.

Thanks for the picture. Makes it much easier to understand now.

And equally important, to see the guilty one(s) remain free.

They didn't even feel the need to check days after the disappearance.:(

The ones in the area that did business with Joey, and interacted with him most often imo relied on CM who was known to work closely with him.

CM nonchalantly told them he would go by to check on them sometime at the END of the week like it was no big deal, and unfortunately, he was able to convince them.

So imo he put it in everyone's mind HE would be the one to check it out. They had no clue at the time he was really giving himself more time to coverup the murders.

While I think CM is a worthless piece of wasted air, I do believe he could manipulate, and con others into believing his pathological lies when it was to his advantage to do so.

Imo

I fail to see any motive for CM to kill the whole family. He had nothing to gain but too much to lose. If he had stolen money, he could continue to steal without killing the entire family. Just because he may have stolen money immediately after the disappearance by no means implies he caused the disappearance. It's a possible scenario that he may know, somehow, they weren't coming back because someone may have killed them, and took advantage of that to steal money. I am by no means claiming he did steal money or he did know they were not coming back, just showing a possible scenario and reasonable doubt.

It took more than whatever motive alleged to CM to kill the entire family, and in such a brutal manner. There was extreme emotion, hatred, cruelty, and potential gains from the deaths. For me, nothing suggests CM had all these.

I don't know anything about that, sorry.

I certainly don't want an innocent person to go to prison for life either. It's such a difficult case with so many questionable characters involved. It just makes life harder for detectives involved when theres a bunch of shadyness going on or was...

CM is shady but he did pass a lie detector test early on. It's sad all around.

Let's not forget that CM spent years in prison. He very well knows how to "deal" with LE, he even wanted to represent himself in this case as well. He knew that if he didn't seem "interested" about their disappearance, it would have been a "red flag" to LE, as in, what is he trying to hide?, IMO.

Vested Interest: JM was going to fire CM as a sub-contractor. CM also owed JM $43K, according to the prosecution.
