I don't think anyone asked her because they'd have had her memory refreshed if it was in the interview notes.

I think they were using an interview transcript from 2014 to refresh her memory, Ryan Smith interviewed her. Guessing she wasn't interviewed back in 2010. So even her refreshing of memory was 4 years after it happened.

I don’t know much about cell phones except this.

If you live in MD and are visiting say Colorado. Call 911 the operator will have your home address you have to tell them where you are in Colorado. Or some people keep their cell phone number from another area when they move, same thing you have to tell the operator your location.

I don’t know if that helps answer any questions but I thought it is interesting and important to know.

Not directed just at you but also @Force Ten @oceanblueeyes @fridaybaker didn't some of those posters still believe that CM didn't do this? even after his arrest?

When reading in the old threads, there were still quite a few that were sceptical, so I am just curious. I can't recall who thought what now lol

Hi Missy!

I never posted much in the years long discussion threads.

I did voice my opinion iirc when I saw one of his interviews I thought he was the one who murdered them.

But it's hard for me to remember years before they were discovered, and before the arrest.

I know I never believed Summer was guilty of any involvement in them being missing.

Nor did I ever believe they were willingly missing. It's been so long I can't remember if I voiced my opinion back then. I probably did though.

I do remember I felt an uncomfortablness at times while occasionally reading, and by what was being rumored, and speculated upon. That's why I was never a regular back then.

When he was arrested I wasn't one of the ones who was shocked. I expected it to happen one day.

Imo

I've seen you on the Steven Avery forum and you are fine with people having different opinions there, why not here? Why should it be a problem if someone here thinks or believes something different? I think Chase is guilty, but it doesn't bother me if someone else doesn't.

To the contrary actually, I am feeling hesitant to post about my doubts about this case lol I maybe didn't make myself very clear... I really do think that he most likely is guilty, do I believe that the State is proving it right now? Nope, not to me anyway, and I have watched almost all of the testimony ( I think I have missed bits and pieces).

You are right about the Avery forum, and it's great to have all views and respectful discussion about it. After following that case for years now, I have come to the conclusion that I don't believe ANYTHING that a prosecutor says or LE says just because they say it, and it also goes the same for the Defense. I also don't believe that someone is automatically guilty just because they were arrested. I don't think that's the way it's supposed to work, is it? There are a ton of parallels that I see in these cases. Confirmation bias being one. I have learned a lot about wrongful convictions stemming from the Avery case, it's alarming to say the least. JMO

I'm new to this forum, and not sure if I'll stay. But with all this discussion about those who don't automatically "believe" in guilt, are you maybe missing out on other viewpoints. Maybe people have gone away because they don't feel they can express themselves. I want to talk to people with lots of different views. Maybe I'm not welcome here.

I was actually going to post about this earlier... and I deleted it. I am curious to see what others are thinking about this case, I think it's good to have different views of what we are hearing. I do want to hear from those that think he is not guilty, I want to know why... tell me why!!!!! I am open to the discussion JMarsh and websleuths is a discussion forum, right?

I see lots of posters liking posts that are not posting, I hope they feel comfortable to post regardless of their views and as long as we are respectful to each other and to the families, all is good :)

Thank you for your very honest answer. I think you've answered the question posed here ALOT, as to why people have gone away. Their ideas are not appreciated and perhaps shunned. I won't take part in a dialogue were all views are not welcome. So I'm gone. But maybe I'll see you back on the Avery forum.

If Merritt turned off his headlights as he turned into the road, I wonder with only his running lights on if the camera would pick him up in the dark, and if it would even register the movement if there was no perceptible movement of light and shadow on the road. How do camera motion detectors work/register movement in the dark if the subject is not lit up?

Didn't Ms. Mitchely say that the evening of the 4th it was constantly recording because of that spider web(we could see it in the upper left corner)? So I think it would have caught it regardless.

I think it was only when the spider or web moved. I don't remember if she said that was constant or not.

I went back to her testimony the other day when we were discussing the times... neither side established how they knew it was 7:47, at least not that I found in her testimony, I guess they just agreed because neither side questioned it either other than on direct she was asked if her time on her computer was correct. There are so many things wrong with that video/testimony... and the video from afterwards that was brought up in Smith's testimony. I don't get why if they were going to do a comparison video they didn't have a camera even close to the same angle? Maybe we will hear more about that later because I think he said they did something different afterwards.

I beg to differ with your opinion that all views are not welcome. They are, if they are reasonably and intelligently supported. To quote Missy's prior post, "I do want to hear from those that think he is not guilty, I want to know why... tell me why!!!!! I am open to the discussion." Exactly. Have the posters who are questioning his guilt clearly stated why they are? If so, I highly doubt if anyone here would shun them.

So he went to see Carmen at 9? How long did it take him to get to San Ysidro from there?

sorry, going back to this because I wanted to address your other posts before you disappeared haha

IF he saw Carmen on the Monday, it would have been after 8, since she said she started work at 8.

So I went and put my departure times on Monday at 8 and 7:15am. I put in leaving the San Ysidro at 11am and how long to get back to Corona, where we know his phone hit a tower at 1:33.

There is a range of times and a few different routes. 2h10min-3h to get there, 1h30min - 2h10min to get back to Corona.

I think it's a tight timeline, but doable? A lot depends on the traffic that day too I think.

I will chime in here because I didn't find the neighbors video helpful. I have difficulty hearing the case through all of the objections and the judge mumble but I have concluded the time stamps and the recordings had been tampered with. I think she said she did some rerecording after that date in order to save her hard drive space. I found the evidence to be very weak. Later the detective disputed the neighbor (Mitchely) was not cooperative with the police as she came across during examination. Although there has been a lot of discussion in the forums regarding the recordings. The prosecution did ascertain that the tailpipe proved that it was NOT the Trooper (Isuzu) leaving that night. Still what do we have so far? CM has been charged and at least we know there is enough evidence for the court to hold him for almost 5 years in prison. I still haven't been convinced there is a smoking gun against CM. The courtroom antics have been less than impressive. I have to say the defense team as despicable as they may come across are more convincing than the prosecution. The judge is unimpressive. This is my first cover to cover crime story that I have taken any interest in since the OJ Simpson case.

Did he say the last person Joseph had contact with; or the last person the family had contact with?

From what @Tortoise posted...

Smith: The last person the family contacted was….the killer

You can hear it for yourself here at 7:25 of the video:

I'm not sure what to think of that video, and I am sure we will see more about it as the weeks go by. I can't even see the tailpipe in the video, anyone else? lol

Mitchley testified that she didn't want to hand over her whole surveillance unit. Not sure I can blame her for that, she also had 2 cam views inside of her home. I would be concerned about privacy as well. I guess if SDSD thought it was important they could have subpoenaed it?

I expect some of the court room 'games' from the defense, I am not impressed with the prosecution so far. But JMO.

This trial is a terrible representation of how trials are supposed to go IMO They should be there Mon-Friday, longer hours, who need 1 1/2 hours for lunch??? lol seems so unnecessary.

San Ysidro is where the Trooper was dumped. That's why we are working out if he had time to get there and back while his phone wasn't hitting any towers for 6 hours.

His phone was on all Monday afternoon after 1.30/2.00 pm until after 6 pm near his home in Rancho, and he was printing a cheque and on an almost 2 hr call to QuickBooks, so no time to go to Azusa then.

Azusa or home to San Ysidro 130-140 miles

We all have our own "theories" about this case. Do NOT allow someone to get under your skin about what you believe about the case. Your viewpoint is just as valid as anyone's else is. In fact, the MORE that people post helps me to consider other people's opinions vs my own. I hope you re-consider and stay. The trial is at the very beginning, IMO, and we all have yet to hear the "facts/evidence" as claimed by the State. We are simply trying to figure out how such a heinous crime could have been committed.

Because the cameraman decided to take off when Maline was giving his part of the defense's OS, I am unsure of what exactly he said with regard to the knife, but my understanding is that it was found in the grave. Is this not accurate? It is important, because there was no mention of a knife involved in this crime up until the defense's OS.

I believe McGee's part of the OS covered the physical aspects e.g items found in the graves, the home etc.. in which he did a "suppose (something) involved a knife".

I believe Maline's part of the OS had to do with financials.

I could be wrong. MOO

He said family but he might as well said Joseph.

She also testified that safety was a concern after the McStays went missing and she didn't want to give up her security cameras. Can't blame her for that. SDSO could have copied more from her hard drive if needed.

The 1 1/2 hour lunch break is a joke.

So if I plan a route of

Azusa - Corona - San Ysidro - Corona on google maps I get total 250 miles / 4 hours. = avg. 62 mph

7.30 am to 1.30 pm is 6 hours so that leaves him 2 hours for

30 mins drive to Azusa from home
30 minutes meeting with Carmen to hand over the cheques and talk about Joey missing
1 hour rest break perhaps hire a truck which he leaves in Corona.

What form of transportation do you think he used to get back? (oops) You said hire a truck. Would there be a record of this anywhere?
