Thank you for your very honest answer. I think you've answered the question posed here ALOT, as to why people have gone away. Their ideas are not appreciated and perhaps shunned. I won't take part in a dialogue were all views are not welcome. So I'm gone. But maybe I'll see you back on the Avery forum.
I'm baffled as to why your impression is that people who believe in Merritt's innocence would be shunned. Granted I think the majority believe he's guilty, I haven't anyone bashing those who question that. Missy and I don't agree about the prosecution or their case but we engage respectfully. Of course not everyone is not going have the same feelings and perspective. That's a given especially with a convoluted case/trial as this one. I hope you decide to stick around. Differing perspectives conjure plausible alternatives.

From Fallbrook to San Diego takes about an hour, less if you are going with the traffic flow. People usually drive around 80mph down the I-15 and I am not joking. It would also depend where the Trooper was parked/driven from as well. You could make a 6hr round trip to SD and back to Corona area, IMO.
80 mph is the minimum on California freeways LOL.

I go to SD about 7-10x a year. Chargers games, Sea World, Mission Bay, Frye's, Guitar Center and Gaslamp district. If you are driving the 70 mph "speed limit," you should be in the slow lane. Just sayin.

What form of transportation do you think he used to get back? (oops) You said hire a truck. Would there be a record of this anywhere?

I HOPE the prosecution has some idea about this? They will have to have some sort of theory about how he returned home. Just saying he dropped the Trooper off (Because his DNA was found inside of it) without explaining how he got home from there will always be just a theory, IMO. I'm hoping that the FBI (Boles?) will be able to explain it to the jury (Cell Towers etc) from his phone records, or the Pros has OTHER evidence proving he dropped it off. JMO

She also testified that safety was a concern after the McStays went missing and she didn't want to give up her security cameras. Can't blame her for that. SDSO could have copied more from her hard drive if needed.

MOO

That's right! Thanks for the reminder!

WHAT??? You don't agree with me???

:D:D:D:D

Sometimes I feel a certain way and then I read posts and change my mind.. I hope more of the "lurkers" choose to post, I like the discussion :)

I believe McGee's part of the OS covered the physical aspects e.g items found in the graves, the home etc.. in which he did a "suppose (something) involved a knife".

I believe Maline's part of the OS had to do with financials.

I could be wrong. MOO
Well, I'm probably hallucinating, but I watched McGee's opening statement on YouTube, and didn't catch anything about what was found in the graves. I thought that Maline pointed to various aspects of the defense's case listed on an overhead board, among them being the knife. This was when the camerman took a powder. Missy directed me to a cell phone video posted on Twitter. It was difficult to see or hear anything, but it was the only game in town, apparently. Can someone else weight in here?

The DNA in the Trooper...I was going to comment about this yesterday...

McGee in his OS had a pretty good explanation of it and I'm sure we will see it at some time in the trial. If it's transfer DNA....

He shakes Merritt's hand with his right hand... he then goes to the truck... which hand does he open the door with? Which hand do you open the door with? Personally, on the drivers door, I open the door with my left hand (my daughter says she uses her right ... I'm going to watch her sometime and see haha) He gets in the driver seat, touches the gear shift, touches the steering wheel, might touch the other control's when he first gets in. IIRC he was a minor contributor on the steering wheel and trace on the gear shift and controls (they couldn't tell which exactly because it was a collective swab, not separate swabs taken).

So I'm curious to everyone.... which hand do you open the drivers door with?

I use my right hand for the passenger door, but my left for the drivers door lol

ETA: my son just came home, I asked him... he uses his left hand. My husband isn't sure and he refuses to go outside and report back to me because it's minus stupid here LOL

He did say something about a knife, and in real time, it was confusing and it sounded like he said there was a knife found in the graves. In going back, the wording is still messed up, but essentially he is said if they were killed at the site, and if Summer was raped and killed at the site, she was raped at knifepoint, using her bra being cut as to why he thinks that, and saying that there were 2 murder weapons at the scene (the sledgehammer and possibly a knife) NO EVIDENCE of a knife being in the graves, and since we have heard from those that were there excavating, I imagine the defense would have been all over that if there was. Do you guys remember that footage when he was arrested and shuffled into the courthouse/police station in shackles. He had been sweating profusely and was quiet and head down. Now tell me this, if someone had just arrested you wrongly for killing your best mate and family would that be your behaviour on arrest? No, you’d be mortified and yelling your innocence at the cameras and from the roof tops, not shuffling into court head down. That’s when I knew he was 100 percent guilty.

or ... you might be too shocked to say anything ...

No one knows how they are going to react to something until you are in that situation. This is one of those times. IMO

I live in Saskatchewan, Canada, last year we had a horrific bus crash that involved a hockey team, 16 people were killed in that crash, numerous other's lives were changed forever. The driver of the other vehicle has been charged, plead guilty and this past week, 90... yes 90, victim impact statements were read in court before sentencing. The range of reactions, forgiveness, anger, not forgiving is a prime example of this IMO. Some family members were able to go and speak with and hug the driver, others were not even able to look at him.

Now tell me @LadyL which hand do you use to open a drivers side door? I'm on a mission! I really do want to know lol

@Edmo since you are so familiar with the area... and others as well...

How easy would it have been for Chase to get back to the area? Is this something that could take a half hour? an hour? within minutes of walking away from the Trooper? By the looks of the timeline, it's looking pretty tight. We have to assume that he would have known exactly where or what to do to get back that quickly as well... maybe he searched it before he went, but we would have heard about that, wouldn't we have?

ETA: we are also assuming he was alone and no one followed and drove him back as well I guess

yes I'm Canadian and know the crash incident ... didn't realize there were 90 victim impact statements

I'm also not going outside to check which hand LOL (I think left but not positive)

I unlock the door with my right (old fashioned key and door lock) and open the door with my left. I'm right handed.

My hubby said right at first, but then he backtracked and said actually he wasn't sure maybe it was left. I will report back when I get him outside haha Where are you from Lady?

and yes 90.. I couldn't even read about all of them, I tried but couldn't, so very heartbreaking, there are no winners in that situation.

The VM isssue is troubling. Dugal stated all the VM's up to the 15th were deleted. I'm almost positive a pin is required to access VM, so Joseph was at least alive to provide the pin to whoever deleted them.

The other theory about Chase leaving his phone behind, someone would have had to been there to answer it when Joseph called. So either he was still in RC or he was working in tandem with someone else.

Why was Chase making numerous calls to Cathy just before lunch?

Well, we know Chase somehow got Joey's QB sign in/password info before the murders because he got into QB and printed a check on the 2nd, maybe Joey kept that info and his pin for VM in his office (same place Chase likely stole the blank checks from).

It's crossed my mind his hanging around the house so much to cause Summer to complain was waiting for an opportunity to do just that, but I have no evidence to back that up, maybe he always did (since they moved in) and she always complained, idk.

I have no answer for your last question but would also love to know the answer.

I'm in Ontario ... brrrrr

are we trying to figure out which hand Chase would've opened the Trooper door with? if so, why?

I gave it some thought, too. It could be that moment of being mortified had already passed--if you've expressed shock or yelled before, you'd have lost the energy and know whatever you do is useless, you'd feel helpless and be in total despair. It could also be that he felt somewhat guilty of whatever lesser (e.g. financial) misbehavior he may have had.

Do we know which brand/model cell phone CM was using?
It was first generation Google phone

Or Joseph had the PW written down on a card like the one for the different account numbers. But I have a feeling Joseph may have had a single password/code for everything and Merritt discovered what that was. People tend to use birth dates or children's names.
