I was taking a quote off the link from the Blue Star web page https://www.bluestar-forensic.com/pdf/en/Watkins_Brown_luminol_BS.pdf

It doesn't have comparisons for metal surfaces, only the reaction that both products produce when sprayed on a surface cleaned with bleach. (It;s under the caption "Clean Up")

(BTW: It looks like Blue Star is a better product than Luminol, lol!)

1:20:45 of the video, he describes what he saw and what it means and what it could be, he says any number of compounds, could be soil, must (as in musty, but this is not a real word I don't think lol but that is what he said)

So after the jury went home today, the lawyers and judge were discussing other things. At least they used their last hour wisely lol

I made a note on a part of it because we have discussed before that there seems to be a line and we just didn't know where the line was...

From what I heard in regards to DK and what is and isn't allowed.... EIP transactions (I think that's what the judge said) before and after the disappearance, whether they were authorized or not, the sale of the business, and testimony that DK confessed is allowed. DK's background and comments were deemed irrelevant and can not be brought up.
You'd think after all these years they would have made a decision on that before the trial started. They also discussed the cell tower and accounting witnesses.....and the usual "we haven't got this summary and/or exhibit".

Something that makes you go "Hmmmmm....."

(Just gotta say, Missy, you're pretty quick with those video clips, Thank You and AWESOME!)

The decision was made previously, it's just the first time I had heard what was allowed and not allowed. During testimony, we can see that some things were, some weren't, it didn't seem to make a lot of sense LOL It does now... at least for me :) It was brought up because Rodriquez was wondering if the defense was going to bring up Dan's computer records when they bring their computer guy in lol It was also brought up that the defense keeps asking leading and loaded questions about Dan, and once they are out there it's out there and if the questions are sustained, can't unring that bell. So the judge is going to start explaining to the jury and sanction the lawyers if they keep it up ... apparently ... we'll see LOL

Your welcome!

I have a pretty good memory LOL If I am paying attention during testimony I can find it pretty quick later, I was listening to see what he would say it was.... so easier to recall :)

Going back to earlier days... if I open the transcript in the youtube video, I can do a search for a key work and can usually come up with it pretty quick too :) Thanks to another poster that told me about that the first week of trial!!!!

In case anyone is wondering:
*in a youtube video to the right of the "save" you will see 3 dots ... click that... hit open transcript, it opens a text box with the transcript on the right hand side, it's not always a great transcript, but can do a CTRL+F (find) and search key words :)

I am going to listen to the Baker testimony (QB's guy) from earlier today! What did we learn from him? Did the defense get any good points out? I asked earlier but don't think anyone answered me ... but what was the email thing about? I could barely hear them on my phone, I could hear Maline asking his questions (in such an angry little elf voice lol) but couldn't hear answers well.

Listening to Mr. Baker's testimony.

I'm on to cross exam with Maline... why is he harping about the recording of the phone calls... is he saying there is a recording out there???? That can't be good for Merritt if there is... so why would the defense bring it up???

IF DK’s alleged comfession is allowed WTH? If that’s not hearsay then what is? Frankly, I hope the man gets the opportunity to set things straight but at what cost? Unbelievable and yet another innocent victim IMO

This was ruled on back in December before the trial started, it was reported in the media back then. This is why it was unclear what was and wasn't being allowed.

We also knew this from the OS's. The defense went into detail what the "confession" to his ex friend or gf was, and what she would be testifying about if called.

What did Dan Kavanaugh confess to his girlfriend? I didn't know about this. (I saw this mentioned earlier but didn't know it was a fact)

It’s a complete farce.

They had Monday off and no Jury in yesterday and today they break at least 2 hours early.

But I mean it’s all ok as they still got their 1 and a half hrs lunch break even though they finished hours early.

I have stopped watching due to the 3 ring circus. We have the mummer (judge) then we have Daugherty & Rodriquez and the 3rd ring is Mc Gee & Maline. Any more objections?

I thought Maline was trying to imply that there was a recording somewhere, but the prosecution doesn't want anyone to listen to it.

We don't know if it is a fact, that he did actually confess to her. But it is a fact that she went to the FBI a few months before the trial, and told them he confessed to her. And then she went to the defense team and told her story.

Thanks! (google Dan Kavanaugh Girlfriend FBI, get info about Brett Kavanaugh's ex girlfriend wanting to talk to FBI :D)

Type it in as: “Dan Kavanaugh” girlfriend FBI

Those quotation marks are magical.

What I did was typing "+Dan Kavanaugh -Brett .....", I thought it had the same effect as quotation marks, but it didn't. Yes quotation marks seems to be more helpful.

Unrelated to the case itself, but found a 1983 article in Caltech campus publication about how a letter campaign helped bring Leonid Rudin's parents from the Soviet Union to the U.S. to join him and his brother (there is a picture of him as a graduate student). Incidentally I also saw some early research by him that contained interesting stuffs to me, though I don't care his using image processing techniques to draw any decisive conclusion for this trial.

Joey had a lot of custom work needing to be done. Was there another welder waiting in the wings to take over that workload if Chase was fired?
Even if Joey didn’t have someone waiting in the wings he probs still felt compelled to fire CM just like any company director would if they found someone stealing from them.

I’ve seen it my workplace where people are fired on the spot for misconduct and the boss certainly didn’t wait around to hire a replacement first. CM wasn’t stealing post its from the stationary cupboard!

Joey was faced with fraud, greed, theft and I believe he’d rather have kept customers waiting whilst he recruited a replacement than have someone dishonest working for him. Trust is what makes relationships work, once that’s gone you’ve had it.

Lucas, waaaaay back when I think there was quite a bit of discussion about this, and a statement from someone related to the case to the effect that Chase was incredibly talented, and to a certain degree, would be hard to replace at a moment's notice. Maybe someone else here can remember more specifics about this.

I agree with your comment, though, about firing an employee or dropping a contractor/supplier for major misconduct, even to the immediate detriment of the business. It's what I've always said about this case: I think Joey overlooked many "small" things, but when he became aware of the theft of thousands of dollars, stopped the gravy train. And that sealed his, and his family's, fate.
