Whoa !!! A couple weeks after the bodies were discovered, CM was searching about crossing the US borders and how to change his identity. I wonder why.

and Merrit had screen shots of JM's cellphone records & contacts, and screenshot of the tire tracks closeup at the gravesite (but I think they said this was from 2013)

So, if I understood correctly, CM took pictures of JM's "screen shots" of his QB account and also the "contacts" info, which were found on CM's PC. Is that how he accessed the account w/o JM permission?

But if what JMarsh has been theorizing... he didn't have access to the other account and if Joey was gone, no one to record them on the other account. The defense is saying hey look... every time he did something, he called Joey right after to tell him.

The interesting thing about checks 4092/4093, is that they indicate Chase used old checks, not in the current series of checks, prior to the night of the murders. They were being experimented with on Feb 1st & 2nd, not on Joey's computer. It also means that he was practicing at the McStay house because those two numbers show up on Joey's computer the night of the murders. I wonder if he was originally considering logging those checks to make it look like Joey created them, but then realized the check he had already cashed would look odd as it was out of sequence. This is what connects Chase to the house the night of the murders!

After the night of the 4th, it looks like the checks started being generated on Joey's stock, which could mean Chase grabbed that stock while he was there. The fact that they were created and deleted goes against the nature of the contact account as the contact account is the one tracking the checks. The checks were being created using the contact account which means Chase had access to contact, even prior to the night of the murders, and whether he notified Joey as he wrote them or not, they needed to remain there for accounting purposes. And, if Joey told Chase to go ahead and print those checks, Joey would have seen them in the account had they not been deleted. There would be no need for phone calls back and forth. Then, there is the big question of how Chase suddenly had Joey's check stock (4200 series) up at his house the day after the murders. We're supposed to believe that Joey gave Chase 10 checks, not all signed, some with forged signatures on the day of the murders.

Actually everyone thought it was a car accident until he walked up and told everyone in the hall what happened. I don't think any of the reporters were there in the hall at the time.

I can't tell you what I really think because Tricia would ban me so fast the door would hit me on the way out! However, my family has heard it and I even shared it to cheer up a client who was bemoaning how long HIS case is taking!

I'm appalled. Horrified. Disgusted. It's making a mockery of our system, which is far from perfect to begin with. It's completely disrespectful to the JURY, to the MCSTAY'S and also to the defendant. I think I already covered that before.

However, as far as this week goes... I cannot even believe that after a 5 day weekend they STILL couldn't be ready!

So did the defense cross examine for too long Wednesday too? Did they mention Dan too many times? Did they force the state to object too much? Is that why the 2 hour lunch break, hour in court, another break, judge taking a phone call, hour in court, another break and now starting late Thursday? I mean COME ON!! I won't be surprised if court is cancelled Thursday because somebody's sweetheart objects to them being away!

The delays during the STATE'S case can only be blamed on the defense so many times before the state has to be responsible for not preventing it. I can complain several times that the state is failing to turn over timely discovery to my side. However, at some point we have to know that it's going to keep happening and adjust what WE are doing accordingly. When the other side has a pattern you learn to work around it, that's a huge part of strategy. Especially during a long trial because you have plenty of time to do that!

By now the state should have more witnesses than they need waiting at the courthouse. We hate to inconvenience witnesses, yes. However that is only for a couple of DAYS. The jurors are being inconvenienced for half a YEAR. You need to minimize the inconvenience to the jury.




If my husband is restrained with a broken leg and rib and I'm being forced to drive while the bad guy has my babies... You better believe I'm not going to screw up.

I'd be scared out of my mind but wouldn't intentionally crash because my assumption is my babies wouldn't be in their car seats and he's probably holding a knife to one of them. If my babies weren't in the car, totally different situation.

However I firmly believe that if they did leave the house alive it was with one of the babies lives being threatened. No better way to get two parents to comply than put a knife to their child's neck. It's one reason I've considered the idea that Joey was killed elsewhere. Would be easier for one person to pull it off that way.

I think he was saying that if somebody just wanted this family dead, they would have just killed them quickly and left them.

That was not the goal here. They wanted the family to VANISH. So they were killed, then removed, then transported, then buried.

Yes, murders happen every day. People vanishing only to be found buried in the desert, does not happen every day.

Kind of like the difference between a person who "only" rapes and a person who tortures.

Or a person who "only" robs and a person who beats the victim in the process.

See what I'm saying? It's MORE than a "simple" quadruple murder. He certainly should have clarified more.




Absolutely agree. I often think outside the box which doesn't make me a lot of friends. But I'm not on anyone's side. I just want justice to be served for all involved. Guilty people in prison, innocent people free.




Popcorn isn't cheap. Trust me, I know. I have a father who eats a bag every night. Drives me batty because there are so many healthier, cheaper snacks. My older kids both have braces but my youngest (3.5) often eats popcorn with him.

I have always theorized that the popcorn was a snack while the boys were waiting for breakfast. Hence the eggs and coffee. Of course there are also people who have coffee and breakfast at night as well. It could certainly go either way. No way to know. Then again I've been known to eat pizza with a fork too... so maybe I don't get an opinion on food issues.

Most people didn't have Iphones in 2010. Google was the smart phone used by Joey and Summer. It's really possible Chase had a flip phone. Joey's phone just prior to getting the Google phone appears to have been a flip phone as well

At this point, I'm just going to wait for testimony LOL it's hard to figure out when we don't have all the information. And not gonna lie... I'm not sure I even want to use preliminary hearing testimony as "truth" at this point ;-) But that's just me!

If I was working with the Prosecution, or even the Defense, I would suggest they make really good charts or something to keep it all straight

If this was true though he would never of forged the cheque on the 2nd. He knew when he did that his goose would be cooked, not even Joey would forgive that after everything he had done for Chase.

That’s why this is more than just greed it was personal. Something happened that made Chase think to hell with it all and the Mcstays.

I could be completely wrong, but my "women's intuition" is telling me, that CM may have been trying to put some sort of "moves" on SM and she rejected him (that could also be an explanation for him hanging around their house, constantly). His comment about her and JM "not having sex for over a year," sticks in my head. If he was bold enough to keep stealing/conning money out of the guy, what would stop him from trying to bed his wife, as well? Whenever he has spoken of her, there's so much bitterness. I think she rebuffed him and probably told JM about something untoward happening, also.
