So he was hired a year ago and they are JUST submitting the paperwork? And not even a report saying what he will testify to? That doesn't seem right...

I did catch that they were looking for discovery, but didn't hear whether he was just hired or what. This helps clear it up... I guess LOL

JMO

I dont think it's as big of an issue as the DT made it out to be.

If so the judge would have gotten all over the state with threats of contempt.

Did he, and what did the judge say? If it was more or less their expert would be given time to go over it then it wasn't a biggy.

Imo

This is stunning to me. We have to designate our experts, provide a report or the material and designate any rebuttal experts WELL in advance of trial!

In my current case it was done a year in advance because we were intending to go to trial on time but the prosecution keeps delaying. (Yes, that's backwards from normal.)

I guess maybe it's the length of the trial that is making this totally different from what we are used to. It's just so crazy to me that they are hiring or designating experts during trial. Just wow.

RSBM

This is the same prosecution and LE that finally tried the key found in Joey's pocket AFTER opening statements, so I'm not really surprised. They have had 4 years to prepare for this trial.

Eyeglasses, greying hair, hunched over in his chair. MOST of the time Atty's want their client looking THEIR absolute best, clothing, hair dyed, no glasses etc. , has been my experience.
I think he is looking his absolute best. Except when he appears to panic, looking over his glasses with pleading, puppy dog eyes.

I'm wondering if JM & SM kept any large sums of cash, hidden in the house? That may have been another reason for CM to keep going back, not only doing clean up, but also ransacking the place, looking for more money, to get his murderous, thieving, greedy hands on.
Back in the day there was talk of a possible safe in the house. Never proven. Not cyber savvy. Have no clue why this is bolded. Never mind. Just figured it out.

Thanks. Did I screw up the dates? Not surprising. LOL. I don't keep notes. It's all swirling around in my crazy brain

And why would he even discuss what meds he was taking in a police interview? Was that to stress that he is an old man? Whatever possessed him to think LE would have any interest in that? Did he mention he may be on statins? HB meds? Coagulants post stent? He's a conman, IMO.

I have seen several detectives on the crime channels say one of the things they place close attention to when interviewing a potential suspect is when they add details that arent even relevant to the interview.

They said many pathological liars tend to tell them highly irrelevant information in overly detailed ways.

Maybe they do it as a diversionary tactic perhaps?

Imo

This is a great explanation! Thanks!

Although I agree that it's absurd to "act like jurors", I don't think it's absurd to listen to the evidence and discuss that evidence, and then maybe adjust our opinions accordingly. IMO it's absurd to me that some can't or won't even acknowledge that some of the "evidence" has changed. And the actual trial evidence is getting lost in theories IMO
I can acknowledge that.

Remember when Merritt wanted to represent himelf? Wonder what he disagreed with his attorneys about back then? Maybe this very issue

I found something the other day that said Merritt refused to waive his right to a speedy trial and they asked to be removed... thought it was interesting. I didn't follow for the whole 4 years and don't recall all that went on with the defense lawyers/Merritt. This isn't where I read it, but it's a link to an article stating the same:

During a pretrial hearing Friday, Jan. 15, Merritt refused to waive his right to a speedy trial to allow his defense time to prepare its case. In turn, Merritt’s attorneys asked to be dismissed from representing him.

This was way later as I recall.

Yes and trying to ingratiate themselves with LE. I noticed right at the beginning of his interview he said something to the female detective like 'you look just like your voice' or wtte and I thought here he goes, probably trying to flatter her.

It's somewhere in the back of my mind. Just can't retrieve it. Could have been Court TV boards? They were on fire in the early days. I do recall there was an article in the UK Daily Mail where his responded in the posts?

I was very active on the old CourtTV boards. I don't recall Chase being there, but Mikey definitely was, I believe his wife was at one time and even Gina Watson. JMO because no way to prove it now lol

I think he is looking his absolute best. Except when he appears to panic, looking over his glasses with pleading, puppy dog eyes.

I think in this particular case they want him to be gray headed.

After all from minute one, he has made sure he is old, old, old as dirt. They are trying to match the man when all of his interviews comes in where he says it.

No matter what, he still looks pretty darned healthy anyway. Lol

Yes. Extraneous info. TMI of sorts. Diversionary for sure. And the investigators are so onto this. These men think they are sooooo smart.

But he only has natural graying around his nape and temples. The remainder looks dyed to me, though. How does one do that in jail?

LOL! well he sure decided to waive his right. No one can do it, but him. In fact he is partially to blame for it taking so long.

He did a lot of flip flopping over the years. When he said he was going to represent himself, imo, that was another delay tactic. I knew even he wasn't that stupid and it was all a ploy or another con in order to delay the inevitable.

Imo

It remains to be proven. TY Missy for the truth.

Your welcome... thank you for reading it haha I do think we will find it's somewhere in between ;-) Their side... the other side... and the truth is probably somewhere in the middle :)

I really can't wait for some solid evidence, I want to see ledgers, I want to see cell pings... and both sides better hope they have it laid out in a way that it's easy to follow!

Part of the whole personality. Large and in charge. Much smarter than anyone else. Manipulative. MOO

I know people have opined on that. But I am not seeing it. He looks pretty health to me. And we only have the benefit of the stupid cameras with L and C.
I said in the beginning what we should get a little Merritt cam in the corner so we can actually see his reactions to the evidence! When they do show him, we see the back of his head LOL I have noticed a few times where he looks pretty tired, that sunken dark eyed look, but for the most part, he's looked fairly healthy.
