Bingo. Then telling MSM that he'd been trying to get hold of JM "all weekend" when that isn't true either. This was his "best friend". Didn't try to call him even once a day before they were reported missing? Didn't try to see if his missing friend had charged his phone, or had coverage wherever he had went? Didn't leave a note on the door, that he'd stopped by? Didn't do anything like that. If you didn't know for sure your friend had gone anywhere (since they were besties and talked so many times a day), why wouldn't you continue calling? Chase, in the months before the murders, called multiple times a day. The fact he didn't when NO ONE knew they were even "missing" at that point cannot be called a coincidence.
Exactly. I'd be calling incessantly. All day, everyday. "Dude WHERE ARE YOU??". Needing money, working on projects, Saudi Arabia, Paul Mitchel, "Joey had big plans". Where is Joseph? A bigger question, where is Chase?

That always seemed suspicious to me too, but McGyver had been trying to reach the McStays to see if they wanted him to come in on Sat or Sun to paint, and he never heard back, and he didn't alert anyone. The brother and mother are told by at least two people that the family is not in contact, and they wait to phone police.

Chase actually has, in a way, the best excuse of anyone for not calling police-he could have been arrested on the spot. There was a bench warrant out for his arrest. What Chase appears to be doing is trying to get someone else to phone the police. And a family member really is the most logical party to do this.

So where do you suppose he watched the movies he rented at Blockbuster? If he really didn't have a TV or didn't know enough to watch it on his computer or laptop? Or maybe he just went there for the popcorn?

I am not sceptical of things that make Merritt out to be a liar... I'm sceptical of taking what is in the PH at face value at this point. For some of the info, that is all we have right now.

And for me..... I will base opinions on the facts, not on rumour. You all are free to think he's a liar because he was too stupid to figure out how to watch a movie if he didn't own a TV (which I still don't know as a fact). I will base my opinion on the fact that I see he made 2 purchases at Blockbuster, which indicates to me that he did indeed know how to watch a movie, TV or not ;-) Still doesn't prove that he did watch them.. but IMO shows that he at least intended to.

Well he might have rented the movies to create a record for an alibi. Works both ways.

I guess you have to have an opinion who is the liar. The detective or Chase. Umm well for me its Chase. If you want to know a horse follow his track record.

OH... was it this? (attachment) it's at 1:02 of the video. I thought it was maybe the bath mat, but she says '2 pieces of torn white towel'

Did she testify to this being blood? Great find, by the way.

Really, really sketchy that CM can remember minute details about the Chik-fil A meeting, which hasn't been verified by video, an employee, and/or a payment on a credit card statement (yet), but not what he was doing that evening, the last time his employer supposedly tried to contact him.
There is no evidence as to where CM met JM on the 4th. YET.

I have yet to see a valid alibi for where CM was the 4th, 5th, and 8th, 9th.

Most people who are self employed have a schedule written on paper (remember Day Planners"?), the computer, or their phone with appointment, jobs, deadlines, payment due, etc.

Nothing, in the trial, has been said to give CM an alibi for the 4th, 5th, 8th, and 9th. There's a vague memory by Carmen that CM was in the Metro Office the 8th or 9th, but, again, that's vague. Barring THAT, no one has given CM an alibi.

Waiting for CM's alibi for his whereabouts because I have yet to hear it from any of the witnesses, ON THE STAND, per what CM claims in pre-trial. interviews/statements.

True, CM seems to have very selective memory recall when recalling certain things.

These events on the fourth weren't about a mundane trip to McDonald's. BTW, I never go to any McDonalds. I dont like their food, but then I don't really like fast food hamburger places. Lol!

This was the day he could clearly recall when he said he definitely knew he was the last one to ever see Joey that day.

This was THE day his best friend, and his entire family vanished into thin air.

I have always found it so telling when CM said Joey was HIS best friend, but he wasn't Joey's best friend.

Imo, it showed even then how he still seethed with hatred, and rage against Joey, even after he had murdered Joey.

Just like he couldnt contain his hatred, and rage against Summer, even after he had murdered the poor woman, her little babies, and her husband. He still seethed long after he had murdered them all.

Imo,to CM a best friend would continue to keep him with the same comfortable lifestyle they had done for years, even if he was more of a burden than an asset.

Imo, due to CMs entitlement grandoise mindset and attitude, to CM, a best friend wouldn't ever make them no longer a subcontractor for their business, and make then out altogether, having to fend for themselves, and having to stand on their own once again.

Whatever alibi he may come up with, now years later, the jury will not drink the koolaid the conman is wanting to sell them. Imo, his conman days are over.

The blockbuster purchases weren't made on the 4th and for an alibi. I only showed them to show that somehow, someway he was watching movies, as some have stated that it was an outright lie because no way he could because he didn't own a TV.

But if horses always adhered to their record, betting wouldn't be much of a challenge. And Chase certainly has a history of theft, but blantant lies? Do we know that he lied, about anything so far? A provable lie?

No, not at all. But I was only listening a bit, some items she spoke about going for further testing, some she didn't say.

Would he be afraid they'd arrest him over the phone lol? Like DK he could have easily called in for a welfare check. He seemed pretty adamant about getting Mike to the house.

Are there pictures located on WS about what was retrieved from the graves? The bloody "pieces" of a bath mat(s) picture shocked me because I don't remember hearing about them during testimony. Maybe they haven't introduced it yet? Maybe it was a doctored photo, I don't know?

If anyone can find them, it would be the WS's.
Look in the early testimony the prosecution showed close up picture of a partial terry cloth looking fabric with a flowery design and a tag in grave B. Maybe go back to day 9 testimony part 2 maybe. I have stopped taking notes since day 14. The case seemed to be falling apart after that. I no longer can follow the court proceedings.

I never considered that he didn't want to contact them because of his warrant, or if I had, it was years ago.:eek:

That is one thing that interested me about items in the grave. I'd wondered if, at the point that they were found, if blood could be distinguished from decomp.

Do we know this is actually true? that DK called for a welfare check? When they had the SD police on the stand, why didn't they testify to that? or did I miss it?

Chase discusses this early in the interview. He even says he had been hesitant to be interviewed at all (he didn't have to be interviewed) because he was afraid they would arrest him on the spot. But after discussing this with his wife he decided Joey's life was more important, and if they were to arrest Chase, so be it.

They assure him they won't arrest him, but that he needs to get his bench warrant status straightened out.

The bath mat was found outside of Summer's grave, according to an evidence list on a website. It is a bath mat, NOT a towel.

I was at prelim. That guy sat with Chase's family on the defense's side of the court. My guess is that by prelim, he'd changed his mind.
