Sorry if I wasn't clear. What I meant is, I understand that there were two separate issues going on. Weitzman would have created the graphs and charts. But he would have also analyzed them and possibly come to conclusions based on what he saw. For example, did he conclude that Chase spent a lot of money in Casinos? On groceries? On gas? If so, he should have documented that in a report. Or, if he could not come to any conclusions upon analyzing his graphs and charts, he should have also documented that no conclusions or interpretations could be made.
Sorry but this is wrong. Experts do not need to report that they aren't giving an opinion.

Again, he made no interpretation of the data and that is because no one knows what Chase spent cash on unless they were there with him.

The class bias being demonstrated so far by the state in their analysis of Chase's finances, I'm a little concerned with. So far all their analysis does is illustrate the anatomy of a person in financial trouble-not unlike a lot of Americans at that time.

It borders on being bigoted in regards to someone's economic status, as opposed to showing a motive for murder.
What???? You're arguing that he's being prosecuted based on his economic status? Makes zero sense imo.

It's not bias, it's presenting evidence implicating guilt.

You know Plo, Joseph sounds like he was a wonderful son, husband, dad and friend, but he sure as hell picked a monster of a friend.
For those posing the theory that there was no lunch meeting, how do you explain the cellular evidence that is in keeping with a meeting at lunch?

I'm still waiting for you to explain the cellular evidence of CM near the burial site.

<modsnipped quoted post>

How can you compare Chase to regular Americans in financial trouble? He made 173k in one year. There is no reason for him to be behind in rent and bills. OTHER THAN HIS GAMBLING ISSUES!

I still think Merritt could walk away Scott free at the end of the trial.

That’s not to say he is innocent but so much time was lost and so much was botched at the beginning.

I hope I am wrong though and we still have another 5 months to go at the rate this proceeding.

Right... the posts previous to your posts saying "guilters" are not warranted and uncalled for IMO

Someone can believe he is guilty AND think the State is not proving that.

The evidence also has nothing to do with Merritt's charisma, and implications that he has groupies is ridiculous and I expect more from posters here at WS's JMO

66 withdrawals at casinos. But it's not an addiction.

Right, but the defense says he may have just used the ATM to get cash, and then he left, and may have used ti for expenses or supplies instead. right....

Interesting to me is that he has absolutely no alibi for what he was doing for the days of and following their disappearance. Nothing in his financial or cell phone records can show that he was elsewhere that week, and furthermore there is no credible eyewitness testimony to show he was elsewhere. The DT so far has not attempted to alibi him ANYWHERE from the 4th through the 8th. While admittedly all the evidence we have seen so far is circumstantial, I am convinced that Jarvis was the key to his arrest. Surely she noticed suspicious or out of character behavior by him that week, and after 4 years and being separated from him for awhile I believe she was likely more forthcoming with SBSD about things she probably never told San Diego LE. I don't know if she is the confidential informant who won't be testifying or not, but I am convinced she was pivotal to the investigation. Based on the warrants, she gave them the crucial evidence they needed to arrest him. He was arrested very soon after they recovered the laptop from her mother.

BBM Then you have not been watching the testimony. I saw bank records yesterday that showed him elsewhere, and I have watched testimony that showed cell phone pings that showed him elsewhere.

I have never been to a casino. Only fake ones with play money for school fundraisers. My favorite was the black jack table. LOL.
When I quickly scanned the records presented today it looked like sometimes he was there for 7 hours. Is this common?

And the only time I have ever made an ATM withdrawal at a casino, is when I already lost the cash I came in with...

Unless you had a Felony Warrant for your arrest and didn't want to give LE a roadmap to your home.

Just another memory issue I guess

Or groceries for the family.

It is common, but only for heavy gamblers. You cannot stay that long unless you have a lot of cash to spend.

A difference in opinion is just that. None of us knows for certain what happened to this family. I have to imagine we all want whoever committed this crime to be held accountable. There are just different takes on the evidence. No one is bad for believing what they believe. Any of us could be wrong. Or right...

Cross exam of forensic accountant.

Defense upset that the FA was listing the cash withdrawals. Asking if the state wanted him to highlight those cash transactions.

Defense trying to say that Cash's business was relying on cash to buy goods or materials, with no record on costs or materials.

WHY would they do that? Wouldn't they want receipts for the IRS and for Joey?

FA pushing back on the defense theory that 'cash' was the way he did 'business.'

Thanks for updating, unfortunately was to busy this this morning to even follow but appreciate it :) Will have to wait until later to watch *sigh*

Sorry but it's not wrong. We will just have to agree to disagree. :)

The FA maintained his cool. I kept waiting for him to say to Maline, I got no dog in this fight!

Or groceries for the family.

Right. Because one cannot pay for groceries with a debit card. I always take a quick detour to my local Indian Casino before grocery shopping, to get cash for my purchases.

Also, the Forensic accountant correct the defense, when they said he took out 840 dollars one visit. The accountant said it was in multiple withdrawals, and the DT said that didnt make a difference.

OF COURSE IT MATTERS. If he made multiple withdrawals from a casino ATM, that means he was there gambling and losing.

He wasnt there to use the ATM on the way to pay his landlord.

SEEEEE he always sounds like an angry little elf LOL

He was very upset earlier. His voice got very high and he was speaking fast, and I don't think it looked that great to the jury. He seemed defensive. JMO

I'm sure the defense will argue a lot of that money was used to pay for welders, vendors, supplies......

Oh wait, that's Dan's excuse.

Maybe he just won't remember where all the money went? He should probably ask his wife. :D
