#McStay - Juanita said Merritt came to stay with her in 2013 to help her, she had had multiple surgeries. She's having a hard time remembering dates.

#McStay - Rodriguez: Isn't it true that you told the detective you had only seen him one time prior in 2009, you met him and Cathy at a Coco's with the kids?
Juanita: That's not the only time I saw my brother.

wow... Maline should just sit down LOL

That is horrible. She said they had her on every pain killer at the time she was drooling out of her mouth, she does not remember talking to them, doesn't remember who it was.

The several times I was interviewed by detectives/investigators in a trial, I had to read the transcript that was produced, make any changes needed, and sign it....just saying, maybe it's an Arizona thing.

The State better hope that the defense doesn't have proof he was driving Bennet around on the 6th of February. Based on those questions.

ETA: Is this why they were looking for Bennet's DNA????????

hahaha Smith was the one that interviewed Merritt's sister.

He was the "much younger" officer.

#McStay - Rodriguez: Who did you live with in 2010?
Juanita Merritt: I didn't live with anyone, that's why Chase came to stay and help me. Rodrguez: 2010?
Merritt: Yes
Rodriguez: Isn't it true you told a detective that as of 2010 you hadn't seen him in 5 years?
Juanita: No

This is a comical at this stage, the prosecution really need to communicate better with their witnesses because they are just coming across as inept.

Did you watch it? lol She was almost laughing at the question about not seeing Chase for a long period of time.

#McStay - Sgt. Smith back on the stand. Rodriguez asking about Smith interviewing Juanita Merritt. Smith said she did mention that she'd had several strokes, however he says she spoke with ease and did her best to recollect events.

#McStay - She said the last time she had seen Chase was 5 years earlier. Talked to him maybe once every 6 months. Smith said Juanita told him if she wanted to see his kids she would go to Rancho Cucamonga to see "Cathy and the kids."

There are a lot of indications that Chase was involved with his kids. This doesn't mean that he was the perfect dad, but I do think that his daughter-who has been interviewed about her father-is one indicator. She is rock solid as to his innocence, and is clearly devoted. But in addition Chase does have a long record of financial problems, and no where in there is any type of failure to meet his financial burden as a father. It could be that Cathy Jarvis made the decision not to pursue money when she knew he couldn't afford to pay, but in the search warrant there is a mention of their relationship and that Chase over the years visited her and the kids.

If you only read what confirms a belief you already have, you might miss facts that point in another direction.

I think it may behoove you to also heed your own advice you have addressed in your last paragraph of this post.

I really have tried to take into account, and understand all of the multitude of excuses you have given this one defendant from day one

But when you continue to say CM was an involved father implying he is a good man, you lose me when trying to look at your other arguments. It's like you refuse to even look at any evidence that puts this man in a bad light.

It's like you think CM can absolutely do no wrong no matter what the subject matter may be.

When anything damaging is discussed about this ex felon, and accused murderer of an entire family you seem to give him an excuse for all of it.

Will you explain why that always seems to be the case?

I truly am trying to understand your thought processes concerning this particular defendant. TIA

Imo

I back up everything I put forward. If you have any questions as to where I am getting my ideas, please ask.

I wish more people read all the documents before commenting, but I know this isn't alway possible.

I know this case very well, I have read every search warrant made available, numerous times. I've read the prelim about 10 times, all the way through. In fact, I attended the preliminary hearing. And though I'm playing catch up, I have also listened/watched all the testimony given (with the exception of a few witnesses).

Have you listened to all the testimony? Have you read all the search warrants? Have you read the prelim?

Ask me to back something up, I will. Only I would ask that when I make the same request of you that you be kind enough to do the same.
