wow... Maline should just sit down LOL

That is horrible. She said they had her on every pain killer at the time she was drooling out of her mouth, she does not remember talking to them, doesn't remember who it was.

Interesting to watch CM as Maline does cross. CM looks as though he thinks 1) Maline is an idiot and 2) is going to ask a question that convicts his ***.

Well this prosecution is a bit of a mess,eh?

ETA: This is my opinion

Fyi, it is up to each poster to back up what they say with links. It is not up to others to research your claims. If you make a statement that is your opinion, you must state it is your opinion.

I am stunned the prosecution is about to rest its case-in-chief. I am worried they will not get a conviction if this is all they have. I think the guy is probably guilty, but you can’t send someone to death row based on “probably.”

I thought this was a victim friendly forum

Amazing how often the murdered woman and mother gets blamed

Well we all have to remember how much CM relished in crushing Summer in the ground to anyone who would listen.

Of course after he had already murdered her in cold blood, and buried her in a shallow grave to decompose. What a nice fella, huh?

I guess some may think he's a compassionate murderer though because he did throw one of her little dead sons in the grave with her. (Eyes roll big time)

There arent many monsters as dangerous as CM or as depraved either.

But yeah it seems some would rather disparage a murder victim, instead of the one who is accused of murdering THAT victim. SMDH!!!

The case is about 1/3 of the way through so it's too early to really tell which way it's going. Rebuttal witnesses for the State usually clinch the case for one side or the other.

Juanita looked "unstable` to me. IMO If the defense is planning on using her as his alibi for the grave digging, well, she just doesn't appear to be all that credible. IMO

Anyone, would this interview be recorded? If so, could it be played for the jury?
I think Smith said it was recorded. I don't know if that would be a good thing to play it or not lol

That was pretty brutal to watch. She said she was not in her right mind during that interview, couldn't even pick out that it was Smith that was interviewing her, he is in the courtroom. She has had a few strokes, and had just had back surgery and was heavily medicated with pain killers, to the point she was drooling (her words).

I don't see that at all, but JMO.

There is an 'anon' in chat claiming to be Chase's daughter...

mod asked why she isn't there...

anon5538: I try to be as much as I can, but I have work and school and a life as well.

anon5538: Just wait for the defense's case. that's all i can say

dyinggggg to ask her what kinda dad Chase is lmao

Some things speak for themselves.

This applies to everyone though right? Not just 1 or 2 posters that the majority don't agree with.

hahaha Smith was the one that interviewed Merritt's sister.

He was the "much younger" officer.

Every time I hear Smith being brought back to the stand, I have to laugh. All the other investigators look as if they aren't wearing pants behind the stand, and they don't want anyone to know. They look so uncomfortable. Smith is all the DA's got at this point.

Well I would think at the end of the Prosecution’s case, the evidence would lean in favor of said prosecution. Then the defense would step up and create doubt. You know, kind of like the scales of justice tilting back and forth. At this point though, they aren’t really tilted enough to ever secure a conviction, IMO. The defense is just going to keep adding more and more weight to their side. Sure, the prosecution will be able to mitigate some of that weight, but if the prosecution side hasn’t even come close to causing the scale to level out, I just don’t see any hope of it ever doing so.

I don’t know whether to hope I am wrong or not. Part of me wants to see him convicted. Part of me knows it might be an injustice if he were.

What do you feel is evidence of his guilt?

Are we certain that the prosecution is such a mess, or is it that this is a no-evidence case. Where is the evidence? The DA didn't do the investigation. This seems like it falls on the investigators, and former DA Mike Ramos.
