She was slacking with tweets the last few weeks. The last few days, I think she is getting a run down from someone else (likely the person that gave her the audio tapes). But I did say last week that I don't think Cathy thinks the State is proving it either. Unfortunately, this is what we get.. cuz no one else is doing it.

But that is not her decision to make. She is not a part of this jury, and has no clue what they think.

By interjecting her own unsupported biases she is not tweeting fairly.

In fact it's like she is trying to sway the public's opinion by tweeting unfairly. I've seen this happen before.

She needs to put her own personally held biases aside, and tweet both sides fairly or not tweet at all.

Totally agree with you Erin Corwin trial which was local to San Bernardino got more coverage then this one, Sierra's case got way more tweets and also news civcover I know this cause I am local to her case

Everyone is forgetting that this case has been live-streamed from day one. Reporters started covering it, and then apparently realized the futility of trying to compete with live coverage-not to mention the Youtube archive of each day of trial.

There is no real reason to cover a trial that everyone in the world has immediate first hand access to. Unless you can add to the story in some way. Local stations have limited resources these days. Very limited.

The prosecution has dropped the ball so many times now. It's almost like they put their case together assuming there would be no rebuttal whatsoever.

Yes. That is exactly how it seems. And this occurs more frequently than people realize. This case was a bear (over 20,000 pages of discovery) and a lot of defense attorneys wouldn't have had the guts, the inclination or the skill to take it on.

When did Cathy tweet unfairly? I keep trying to find the tweets people are intimating to and I haven't been able to find a biased tweet.

There is a reason and that is that most people don't have 3 or 5 hours spare every day to watch every word of the trial, or the interest to look at every phone call and every cash withdrawal Chase made.

People can have an interest in the trial and prefer to read a summary of the proceedings.

So the mobile phone evidence wasn’t that conclusive?

Just trying to catch up as with no live streaming I haven’t been around.

Cellular ping evidence, unto itself, is rarely conclusive. Phone companies aren't in the business of solving crimes. They generate data to bill subscribers and to monitor their coverage, making certain they are competitive.

Historical ping data is incredibly unreliable, so much so, that Verizon refuses to testify in court to the accuracy of their records.

This is an inexact science with zero peer review studies in relation to it's accuracy in determining the location of a target.

At best, it gives you a general location of where a person could possibly have been when a call was made or received by way of their "handset", or a tower was pinged for data retrieval. At worst, it is misleading.

Drive tests are the closest to giving a realistic depiction of a tower's coverage, but those have to be true to the time the event being looked at occurred.

GPS is really the only way to accurately pinpoint a person's location. And GPS was not prevalent on cell phones in 2010. They are now. I think we are going to see a change in cellular phone evidence going forward.

I believe Cathy's title is Executive Trial Producer for L&C. I don't know that she is a reporter. She is the ONLY ONE tweeting. Take it or leave it I guess.

Many, MANY cases have multiple media sources covering them, it's not uncommon.

They do, but that is not the case here. Many reporters have been using the L&C live stream to do their "reporting" IMO There have not been many articles since the opening statements, I was looking on the weekend. There is one link that has been shared here that gives a weekly update, can't recall who or where it is though.

And this is why they are soooo unreliable in finding missing or injured people........not buying it.
We used cellular technology wrangling a dude string in a mountain area of Prescott, Arizona. During the 3 years I worked the string there were 3 air evacs for horse/rider accidents where the rider was unconscious. We also used a "SPOT" back up. There have also been situation s of lost hunters and one incident of a deaf child who was find using cell technology. We use that same technology with equestrian search and rescue. I have personally used it since 1995.
Personal experience goes a lot further than "Fly by the seat of your pants".
IMO, IME.

Boles does a good job of explaining pretty much what JMarsh just said. Looking at the historical data compared to the real time data like they do when searching for a missing person or fugitive, etc is very different. JMO based off of what Boles testified to.

Are you still on "hotspot" Bernina???? You picked a good week to switch over lol Cams should be back for tomorrow morning :)

And for this particular case, I find the media lacking as to the gravity of the case. Since the beginning of the disappearance, it garnered National coverage. For all the hoopla, far more news outlets should have had boots on the ground. L & C is in it's infancy and too many news outlets dropped the ball believing L & C would substantially cover it. For the length of the trial, you would expect it to have at LEAST half the media as was in the Arias trial. JMO.

I blame San Diego Sheriff's Dept lol Seriously... once they said it looked like a 'voluntarily missing person's' case, the media seemed to drop it... Tim Miller saying the same back in 2010 didn't help. JMO

"Hot Spotting" away.....grrrr! Have a new provider (BOLT) coming today, 5mbps which is a far cry from Speedconnect (2.2mbps atenae tower) and ATT (2.1mbps hardline). It's the "boonies", lol! Gotta have my Netflix!;)

awwww good luck, hope it goes smoothly! We have audio for the last few days, so when you get a chance, I hope you can catch up :) I believe we will get the audio for this morning's testimony as well later today! Court is only in session for the morning today... and tomorrow, cam's should be back :)

Thanks. Do you know if she is a defense attorney or use to be?

The reason I ask is Dan Abrams use to be a defense attorney, iirc.

I will heed your advice.

Since she rarely covers the state's direct examinations anyway, the logical thing for me is to scroll, and roll past her tweets.

Others like Tortoise, Katy and yourself are bringing forth what is being testified to anyway. Them for the state most often, and you for the defense.

Imo
