This is exactly why I am the guy ranting at the clouds about the proper handling of circumstantial evidence for year after year :D

If you look at each data point in isolation, you can indeed henpeck each single piece of evidence to death with speculation. But this is not what we learned at law school, and the jury should be properly instructed not to do so.

If you examine the entire collection of deleted cheques together, the natural and obvious conclusion is that the same person created all of them and that person can logically only be CM

But I do agree with you. The defence will engage in wild speculation, supported by absolutely no evidence, that JM created that particular one - and the Jury may fall for it.
But does this make him a murderer? It seems he was always hurting for money and he did this to get some, maybe even thinking he would not get paid his share, seeing his boss is dead.

#McStay - DuGal said he didn't have any evidence that there were remains in the house so he didn't have the cadaver dogs go inside.
I don't know why they bothered having them there then. Did they think it happened in the yard or not at all? Crazy, IMO, and infuriating too, to think that there's a possibility this could have been investigated as murder from the beginning with evidence (phones and security cameras) secured.

How did he know his boss was dead?

Does anyone know where Day 5 of the trial is? I can't find it on Youtube.

If you're looking for Friday there is no court on Fridays.

He wrote the checks before he knew they were dead? Before anyone told him?
I was responding to your theory that he stole money because he thought he wouldn't be paid because his boss was dead.

This is just farcical today and unbelievable how incompetent the detective was and then throw in the family’s own behavior.

Unless Mike was doing something shady there is absolutely no reason to remove the computer from that home. Zero, Zilch, ZIP Nada!!!

I read a message in chat earlier that they are still editing it. I was looking for it as well. Hopefully it will be put up today :)

I stand corrected

It was always my understanding it was caught pulling into the drive way the bottom tail end.

It makes even less sense somebody left that house and then went back to write the cheques.

I think it is possible that he went back to the house. He had to go back at some point to clean up the crime scene anyway. And to take the car to take it to the border?

I am now thinking that Joseph was killed that afternoon away from the home. CM would have had no trouble getting Summer to comply while threatening the little boys. Terrifying to think of how this all went down and how horrifying this was for them.

Exactly! CM didn't have to worry because his boss WAS dead. He was the only one who knew that.

That wouldn’t fit the time frame of him back near home at 9.30pm as wasn’t his phone pinging off a tower near where he lived?

He couldn’t of painted that night unless he drove back in the middle of the night. Plus the car wasn’t ditched at the boarder until a few days later.

If Summer wasn't lured away, her and the boys could have been easily ambushed at the house

Are they done for the day or on break?
