The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

Caponetti was last seen by his spouse departing for work at the shop he owned on Apr. 10, 1979 at 8 a.m. At 9 a.m. a part-time employee found the doors open at Joe's Tru Cool Air Conditioning at 1149 E. Baseline in San Bernardino. The keys were in the ignition of Caponetti's truck. Behind a work bench to the rear of the business was a pool of blood, partially covered with tar. Caponetti was never found.
